Chapter 152
Letta really took her husband to spend the whole day exploring the city of Chicago. Although initially Marco was a bit reluctant due to lack of sleep, seeing his wife's wide smile erased all his annoyance and drowsiness. Currently, the lights adorning the night sky in Chicago looked enchanting, especially when Letta gazed in awe at the beautiful waterfall, as if it were dancing before them. They were at Buckingham Fountain, one of the famous waterfalls in the world, known to attract many tourists with its beauty.
"Can we also make a waterfall like this in our backyard?" Letta asked, making Marco stare straight at the waterfall in front of them.
"If we make it, it will surely attract the attention of people and tourists in our country. Do you want our house to be visited by many people?" Marco asked nonchalantly, making Letta look at her husband with a displeased expression. Although Letta knew that Marco could do it and was capable of making the waterfall just for himself, it seemed like Marco only wanted to annoy Letta in return for her behavior since this morning.
"But if you insist, I can make one just for you," Marco continued after a moment of Letta's silence, ignoring his response. Marco felt that Letta wouldn't consider it, until Letta finally looked at Marco with a beaming smile.
"No need, you're right. I don't want to draw too much attention. It would surely be too much trouble for you and also involve our privacy," Letta said, making Marco nod. Marco then pulled Letta to stand in front of him, embracing Letta's round belly.
"How's today? Are you still not satisfied with exploring this city?" Marco asked, making Letta shake her head while placing her palm on top of her husband's hand.
"No, I'm satisfied. Thank you for going through the trouble for me," Letta said, making Marco gently kiss Letta's cheek.
"It's my duty, consider it as repayment for being too busy with my affairs and not having time for you, rarely taking you out. Didn't I say that I would bring you and fulfill all your requests?" Marco said, making Letta finally turn to look at her husband.
"Even though tomorrow you'll have to be busy with all your work again, I'm already happy because we spent the whole day going to various places," Letta said, making Marco gaze into his wife's eyes.
"Would you feel embarrassed if I stole just one kiss?" Marco said, making Letta look around where people were focused on the waterfall in front of them.
"Although I'm not sure if anyone will notice us, it seems like some people might whisper while looking at us," Letta's words made Marco smile, as he could already predict his wife's response. "So, should I hold back until we get back to the car?" Marco asked again.
"No, just until we get to the car. Yes, just a little longer. I'm still not satisfied watching the waterfall dance," Letta said, making Marco smile.
"Alright, then let's enjoy the view in front of us again," Marco said, until a few moments later they felt the wind starting to blow through the crowd, causing Letta to gently rub her arms.
"I forgot. I should have prepared a coat for you. We brought it, right, and left it in the car?" Letta said, making Marco nod.
"Yes, I forgot to bring it. Because earlier I felt warm, but as it gets later, especially with the waterfall facing us, the air is quite cold," Letta said, making Marco finally look around.
"Okay, wait here. Okay, I'll get the coat and also a scarf for you. Remember, don't go anywhere, stay here. Don't mind anyone trying to talk to you or anything like that. Don't accept any food from anyone either," Marco said, making Letta nod. "Okay, I understand. I'll stay right here, not moving my feet at all," Letta said, making Marco nod, then walk towards their car parked not far away to get Letta's coat. However, when Marco was about to return, his phone suddenly rang. When Pedro called him, Marco frowned before answering the call from his subordinate.
"What's up?" Marco asked straight to the point.
"There seems to be a problem, Sir," Pedro said, making Marco furrow his brow.
"What problem again? Haven't we resolved all the issues at the casino? Are there more forged documents by that old man?" Marco asked.
"This isn't about the casino, but about our construction project. It seems Jacob has caused trouble again," Pedro said, making Marco rub his face roughly.
"What's wrong with that scoundrel? Do I need to really throw him behind bars?" Marco said, seeming to be getting tired of Jacob constantly disturbing his peace.
"What has he done this time?" Marco asked.
"Apparently, without our knowledge, he has altered the design and structure of the project we're working on. It seems he has managed to infiltrate our security network again," Pedro explained, making Marco sigh in frustration. "Haven't I emphasized how weak our security is, that he can still meddle with us? Should we look foolish in front of him? Or should I buy a telecommunications company in this country to strengthen everything? Come on, I've paid a high price. for everything I'm about to start," Marco said, making Pedro go silent on the other end, seemingly understanding that his boss was currently upset.
"We will fix it immediately, Sir," Pedro said.
"Yes, you really need to do that. You've truly ruined my mood. I was out with Letta, after all," Marco said, then hung up the phone. Marco then immediately remembered Letta. He had to hurry, as Letta must be waiting for him. A few minutes later, Marco realized that he had indeed left Letta in the queue. However, his wife was nowhere nearby. Marco ran his hand through his hair. Could it be that his wife had gone missing again? But where to?
“Come on, Letta, where did you go now," Marco mumbled, feeling a bit anxious. He passed through everyone, but thinking about it, Letta wouldn't have just left after he warned her to stay in place. Not far from where he was, Marco saw the silhouette of Letta's back walking towards their parked spot, but with whom was she walking? Marco thought, then immediately lengthened his strides. He was afraid that Letta was currently being followed by someone unfamiliar. Since Marco never sent any guards or delegates to follow them, it was clear that the person was a stranger from their surroundings.
"Which scoundrel is trying to bother me and Letta now?" Marco mumbled, finally starting to run towards Letta and the unfamiliar person.
