Chapter 230
Chapter 230 Kneeling to Deborah
Joseph didn't pay attention to the person who fell to the ground. Instead, he immediately went to Deborah's side and carefully checked if she had been injured.
His face looked quite unwell. "How are you? Everything alright?"
Deborah shook her head. "I'm fine, I'm not hurt."
It was just a little tug on the hair, causing a slight pain on the scalp.
Damian wasn't actually targeting her and didn't lay a hand on her.
But Simone's situation wasn't great; after being kicked several times by Damian, she now lay on the ground, struggling to get up.
Mona hurriedly stepped forward and helped the pale-faced Simone to her feet.
Mona was so angry that she was shaking. Now that Joseph and the security guard were there, she felt a bit braver. She pointed at Damian's nose and cursed at him.
"You scoundrel, beating your wife and taking others hostage, just wait for your time in jail!"
Damian was kicked hard by Joseph, falling to the ground as if his bones were broken, groaning in pain for quite a
while.
However, he quickly recognized that the man who appeared before him was none other than the one who had gone to the restaurant with Simone, right?
He was worried that he wouldn't find someone to swindle, but now, it was perfect - the opportunity had presented itself right before his eyes.
Immediately, Damian's spirit flared up as he struggled to get back on his feet, glaring furiously at Joseph.
"You deceitful scoundrel! You seduced my wife and now you have the audacity to show your face in front of me! This
is outrageous! How dare you attack me, the rightful husband, in broad daylight! You both must compensate me, and it better be a substantial compensation!"
As soon as Joseph arrived, he saw the unfamiliar man yanking Deborah's hair, and his anger surged like a volcano.
Now, Damian's words had left him a bit bewildered, and for a moment, he couldn't figure out how to react.
Upon seeing his reaction, Damian thought he had been exposed and wanted to play dumb.
Immediately, Damian's momentum increased, and his voice grew louder.
"I saw you with my wife, laughing and talking together. I even have photos on my phone.
You laughed as you watched her speak, the two of you flirting shamelessly. Did you really think that bringing more people to cover for you would prevent me from noticing?" Joseph still didn't understand.
He looked at Deborah with a puzzled expression on his face.
Deborah explained with some difficulty, "He is Simone's husband, Damian. He suddenly came looking for Slinone, apparently there was a misunderstanding about your relationship with Simone." Joseph was speechless.
His relationship with Simone was, in fact, completely unrelated.
If it weren't for Deborah, I wouldn't have been able to say a single word.
It took him quite a while before he could barely comprehend what was going on.
"Is he talking about the recent visit to the restaurant?"
Upon seeing Joseph and Simone chatting and laughing together, one could only assume that they were either engaging in playful banter or reminiscing about their recent visit to the restaurant.. Mona has a rather cheerful personality, so she isn't that afraid of Joseph.
At the restaurant, Simone seemed quite reserved and didn't talk much, so Deborah made a conscious effort to engage
her in conversation.
Joseph noticed her and took the initiative to strike up a conversation with her. They discussed some matters related to the company and he asked her if her work was going smoothly. The photo Damian captured was probably taken around the time when Joseph was talking to Simone.
Joseph was wronged, but dealing with a man who was clearly looking for trouble and trying to frame him, it wasn't really about whether he was wronged or not.
Joseph didn't think there was much to explain and looked at Deborah. "What should we do now? Do you want me to help call the police?"
Deborah couldn't make a decision either, so she looked at Simone, waiting for her opinion.
Damian was ignored by Joseph, and seeing that Joseph had no intention of giving him any money, he threw a tantrum and lay down on the ground.
"It's outrageous, absolutely outrageous! My wife has gotten involved with another man, and now when I just want justice, they beat me up and even threaten to call the police on me!" As he called out, he looked around, trying to attract more people to come and watch.
Joseph didn't want to deal with it himself, so he instructed the security guards, "Take him to the police station."
The security guards immediately approached, and several people dragged Damian up, intending to throw him into the
car.
Damian was extremely agitated. "You have no right to do this! I hit my own wife, and as for this woman, she was the one who meddled in our affairs and slapped me first, so I grabbed her! My relationship with my wife is our personal business, and it's not anyone else's concern. As for grabbing that woman, it was an act of self-defense!"
He kept chattering nonstop, making a fuss. Following Joseph's instructions, the security guard threw him into the back seat, closed the car door, and drove straight to the police station.
Deborah couldn't help but chuckle, but considering Simone's feelings, she only whispered to Joseph, "He's not that dumb after all, he knows about self-defense."
Joseph didn't know what to do with her, but he couldn't help but feel a lingering unease when he thought about how Deborah had just been held hostage by Damian.
Fortunately, he was nearby and managed to arrive just in time.
What should we do if Damian really did something to hurt Deborah?
Joseph spoke with a hint of reproach, "In the future, don't be so eager to take matters into your own hands. Before acting impulsively, pay attention to your own safety first." Deborah was really fed up with this Damian guy. Watching him repeatedly kick Simone, she couldn't hold back any longer and rushed over to slap him twice.
Looking back, I was indeed impulsive. I'm no match for Damian on my own.
She had a proper attitude when admitting her mistakes.
Nodding, she said, "Alright, I won't be impulsive next time."
Upon seeing her well-behaved demeanor, Joseph couldn't bring himself to utter a single word of reprimand." Damian went straight to the police station, while Joseph accompanied Deborah to take Simone to the hospital. Throughout the journey, Simone apologized to Deborah and Joseph, saying that she had caused them trouble. She assured that if Damian caused any more trouble, she would definitely not let it affect other people or the company.
After that, she didn't say a single word about how she planned to negotiate with Damian, or whether she would resort to legal means. She didn't mention any of it.
Deborah didn't want to ask too many questions, seeing that she was injured and feeling quite down.
It seems that Damian must have something on Simone, forcing her to swallow her pride and tolerate the situation.
Upon arriving at the hospital, the doctor conducted an examination.
In addition to skin injuries, Simone also suffered a mild concussion.
In addition to that, she had other injuries on her body, which didn't seem to be caused by Damian's kick just outside
the company.
The doctor informed Deborah of the situation. When Deborah asked Simone, she hesitated for a moment before finally
speaking up.
Damian had come to Oceanview City a while ago, demanding a large sum of money from Simone. He threatened that he wouldn't agree to a divorce otherwise, and even hit her several times. Damian had a character of bullying the weak and fearing the strong. He knew that Simone worked at a big company, which was not a place he could cause trouble.
So, he never went to the company to look for Simone; he just secretly followed her.
This time, it was because they bumped into Simone having dinner with another man that they couldn't keep their cool and ended up making a scene outside the company. Mona couldn't help but ask, "What's going on with you? Things have gotten to this point, and you still haven't
divorced him?
If he's trying to extort money, just sue him directly and go to court for a divorce. It's not difficult to get a divorce in cases of domestic violence from the husband's side." Simone's eyes drooped as she said, "It's not that simple. My family... we owe him."
Upon further questioning, Deborah, she remained silent.
Deborah really had no choice. Later in the evening, Mona left first.
Get Borts
Deborah stayed here to take care of Simone, while Joseph sat outside in the hallway waiting.
Late into the night, Simone finally fell asleep, her face showing signs of exhaustion.
Deborah looked at the wounds on her face and couldn't help but remember that she too had once suffered like this.
Perhaps it was for this reason that when she saw Damian fighting Simone, she lost control. Unable to hold back, she rushed forward and slapped Damian across the face.
It was like helping the once silent and enduring self to finally breathe.
Deborah tucked Simone in, making sure she was comfortable. She arranged for a caretaker to stay and look after her, then got up, planning to head back home.
Joseph was worried about her staying here overnight. Just like Adrian said, now Jane, the Black family, and Mathias might all have ill intentions toward Deborah. Joseph couldn't let what happened with Chandler happen again, so he couldn't help but want to keep a close eye on
Deborah.
He sat in the corridor outside for quite a while before Deborah finally emerged from the hospital room.
Joseph asked, "How's it going?"
Deborah sighed, "Simone has gone to sleep. Let's not talk about it anymore and head back first."
Joseph nodded, she didn't say much, and he didn't ask much either.
He stood up, taking her hand, and they left together.
Upon reaching the end of the corridor, a person suddenly blocked their path.
Deborah was suddenly startled, and Joseph immediately put on a serious face, pulling Deborah behind him.
Hector, leaning on his cane, stood before them.
Suddenly, he slowly knelt down, kneeling in front of Deborah.
