To My Shattered Soul

Chapter Another Prison

When I opened my eyes I found myself in a small room, with less light, more darkness there was a bed I was lying on!

No window just an iron gate in front of me, I jumped out of bed and started banging on the door, that door had a small opening with a fence on it, I peeked out and there was another door behind that door, the same as this one which probably belonged to another room.

“Let me out!” I yelled and banged the door with more power, but there was no response, the silence was haunting enough to make anyone believe they were in a grave.

When I stopped I realized I had bandages wrapped on my wrists and spots of blood on them.

I couldn’t understand what was happening to me.

I started hitting the door with both of my palms I screamed at the top of my lungs until a woman dressed as a nurse came inside and slapped me straight on my face, once, twice, and thrice, then she pushed me on my bed.

She slapped me with such power that reddened my cheeks.

“I hope this teaches you a lesson now say with me! We don’t kill ourselves and we don’t scream to disturb everyone! Say!” she held me by the scruff of my neck “Say it!” She yelled at me.

I didn’t do as she said, and why would I? I didn’t try to kill myself. And she asks me to shut my mouth! that? I wouldn’t.

“I didn’t try to kill myself!” I protested with my shaking voice and breaking breath.

She raised her eyebrows and slowly shook her head “Ahan!” she was being sarcastic I know “And you were not the one who was screaming?” She pouted.

“I didn’t try to kill myself” I repeated and here she goes slapping me again.

She made me furious that’s when I again inhaled a large amount of air and started screaming louder than before.

“You idiot brat!” She covered her ears and stabbed me in my neck with an injection.

My voice started fading away in my own ears and I lost my senses.

I didn’t know what I was doing there until I woke up again, this time there was a doctor inspecting me and that obnoxious, vile wimp was standing by the wall holding her hands together, making a face as if there was not a single innocent soul than her in this world.

The doctor who was sitting beside me was not a psychopath like her, he examined me “I think there might be confusion, this woman appears to be a normal person” He said.

“You haven’t seen her screaming like crazy” She protested when I interrupted her.

“You slapped me! What do you expect me to do? Ask for more? Or sing for you?” I stared at her.

“Did you slap her?” The doctor stood up staring at her.

She tossed her head and quickly started shaking it.

“If you ever tried to hit anyone else I swear I will send you to your in-laws, this is what you deserve,” He said and approached me.

“I will personally examine you, if she ever bothers you just let me know” he smiled.

Even though I smiled back I was scared just by thinking about what they might do with me if I didn’t leave, especially that crazy nurse! She was still staring at me while getting out of that room.

Do you remember when I said that my final chapter began? Maybe that was just the beginning of my first chapter, and it didn’t stop there, things only began to get worse after I raised my voice against her.

Maybe my life around Peter was a lesson for me, and now it was time for my examination, it was time to put the things I learned with him to the test, but how could I remember it? One thing I knew was that the paper I found under the table had all the answers to my questions.

All I knew was that I was in a mental health institution and the teaser I just saw had a faded watermark on it that said “Institution to make you mentally unstable”

Every day patients who were sane enough to communicate were sent out of their rooms to learn skills to help themselves get through their troubles.

Some chose coloring and painting activities to take out their frustrations, some of them chose to learn cooking, while others used to sit on the bench and pass the time making weird faces and judging everyone.

I saw a woman with short black hair with bangs and big eyes standing by the easel scratching her head with both of her hands and sniffing, she kept looking at her color palette then canvas.

I approached her she was shy she lowered her eyes “What is wrong?” I asked.

“I am color blind… don’t tell anyone!” She whispered “I can’t see red and green shades! They told me how to understand which color is red and green but I forgot!” She held her head with both her hands “Can you help?” She asked.

A drawing circled around inside my brain, a drawing of a ship! Drawn with green color.

I was lost in thought when she cleared her throat to catch my attention “Yes of course I will help you!” I whispered and showed her the colors.

“I want to draw a unicorn! But that nurse over there says it is pointless and I should paint something that makes sense” She smiled but her eyes were telling me she’s been forced to do things all her life just like me.

“You know what? Someone once said to me that we all are going through different problems in our lives, so instead of watching something that is relatable to our lives we will watch something that is relatable to our dreams or imaginations” I blurted with happiness when I realized I used wrong words.

“I mean… instead of drawing something relatable… draw something that is relatable to your dreams” Even though I stammered, my words left a big smile on her face.
