Chapter 1232 Give Him Some Time
Stephanie pushed Jenny back to her ward, and with great effort, she managed to get Jenny back in bed.
"Ah, I'm so tired," she complained.
"You've worked hard, Steph. Thank you," Jenny said, feeling a bit embarrassed.
"Now you know how hard it was for me. When you asked for my help before, why didn't it cross your mind how tiresome it was?" Stephanie questioned irritably, feeling a little annoyed.
Jenny chuckled, knowing that Stephanie wasn't really angry. "How's your relationship with Leonard going? You haven't contacted me in a long time."
On the day Max and Jade got married, Stephanie and Leonard got together as well. After that day, the two of them hadn't seen each other. It had been several months since then, and now it was summer.
"It's going okay. I didn't know how busy work at the police station could get. But after becoming his girlfriend, I know that better than anyone else now." Stephanie couldn't help but complain whenever she talked about Leonard.
"You know, they don't really have normal vacations. Even if they take a break, their phones are never off, and they might get called back in the middle of a date," she said. She had experienced it several times before and was understandably slightly salty about it.
Jenny could understand, as it was similar to a doctor's job. "I know. You have to understand that this is the nature of his job."
"I know. If I didn't understand, I would've said goodbye to him long ago," Stephanie replied. She was just slightly displeased, as she'd always wanted a normal relationship. It was difficult to have that with Leonard, just as it had been with Paul.
Jenny could see Stephanie's frustration and advised, "Give him some time. I believe he can balance his work and his time with you better. Besides, Leonard is so capable. When he rises up in rank, he won't have to work so hard, and he'll have more time to spend with you."
Stephanie sighed. She knew all this; she was merely a little discontented and wanted to vent a little. It wasn't like she really wanted to break up with Leonard.
"He's not in Bardoff City these days. He said he's arresting someone in another city. If he were here, he could help you with this matter," Stephanie said.
Jenny held Stephanie's hand and said, "Don't be upset. You have me, don't you?"
"You?" Stephanie sneered. "I know how busy you've been with Alec these days. Do you have time to care about me?"
"Just contact me, and I'll come whenever you need me," Jenny promised.
Stephanie was skeptical, but she didn't say anything. Despite that, she felt a lot better inside. That night, Stephanie and Jenny talked a lot until they slowly fell asleep in the early hours of the morning. The next day, Jenny learned that Alec's condition had stabilized, and he'd been transferred to a regular hospital room. Almost instantly, she asked Stephanie to push her over there.
After a night of rest, Jenny was able to get off the bed herself, albeit with difficulty. It greatly reduced Stephanie's burden, so she had no reason to refuse.
Inside Alec's hospital room, Vincent was taking care of him. When he saw Jenny arrive, he stepped aside and went to wait outside. Stephanie pushed Jenny to his bedside and tactfully left the hospital room as well, giving them space.
After such a major event, Jenny had a lot to say to Alec. However, he was still unconscious, so no matter what she said, he couldn't hear her. Even so, Jenny didn't care. Her gaze fell on Alec's face, and her eyes instantly turned red.
"Alec, you bastard! Who asked you to shield me? I'm not a delicate flower in a greenhouse. What makes you think I need your protection?"
Compared to Alec being in a coma, she would rather be the one lying in bed right now. She hoped in vain that Alec hadn't chosen to shield her and end up in this state.
