Chapter 1228 Car Accident!
Alec's lesson to the Wardleys caused Anthony to suffer a great loss very soon, but he didn't give up. On the contrary, he felt dissatisfied and thought he wasn't inferior to Alec in any aspect except for his background. Now that he had caught up in terms of background and status, he was naturally adamant about proving his abilities.
Unfortunately, he overestimated himself in the end.
For a while, everyone in Bardoff City knew that Anthony and Alec were warring against each other, and it was evident to everyone that Anthony was no match for Alec. Looking at how the stock market prices had been tanking continuously for the Wardleys, they would be finished if the situation persisted.
However, since they were a big and prominent family, their fall wouldn't happen that quickly. It was just that everyone could foresee that if things continued like that, the Wardleys would be doomed sooner or later.
Before this, Anthony had approached some families, wanting to join forces with them to deal with Alec. They were very interested at first, but now all of them didn't dare to act.
To start off, the Faust family had long been one of the Ten Elites, and with Alec's strong personal abilities, the Fausts were thriving under his leadership instead of regressing. At a time like this, no one dared to provoke Alec.
The board of directors of the Wardleys had just criticized Anthony. They demanded he cease his confrontation with Alec and personally apologize in order to minimize the Wardleys' losses. Unfortunately, Anthony wouldn't listen to them.
"Anthony, what should we do now? Are we just going to give up like this?" Anthony had spent some time in the underworld before the Wardleys brought him back, so he had a few underlings under his command. After he went back and became a Wardley, he brought his subordinates with him. They were now his confidants.
Anthony tapped the table, and his expression clouded over. "Quintus, I've encountered a problem now. If I don't resolve this, I'm afraid my life will be over. Are you willing to help me?"
"My life is yours, Anthony. What can I do to help you? Just tell me." Quintus was still very young, barely eighteen. In his heart, nothing was more important than comradeship and camaraderie. Anthony smiled, but there was a hidden murderous intent behind it.
On Friday, traffic was exceptionally busy as everyone hurried to get off work as the weekend approached. Alec picked Jenny up from the hospital, and they were now looking for a place to eat. "Is the hospital busy these days?" Alec and Jenny chatted casually while waiting for the traffic light to turn green.
Jenny nodded. "There's never a time when the hospital isn't busy."
"Then, aren't you working very hard?" Alec felt a little worried that Jenny was working too hard, but he knew he couldn't ask her to stop being a doctor.
Jenny shook her head and replied, "I've gotten used to it. I actually think it's better to be busy. That way, my days will be more fulfilling."
"Well, it's fine as long as you like it. But if you feel tired, then take a break." Alec could only say so much.
Jenny knew what he meant and smiled at him. "Don't worry, I'm fine. The light's green; let's go."
She looked at the green light ahead and changed the subject promptly. Alec didn't say anything more. He started the car and continued driving forward.
Just as their car reached the intersection, a large truck on the right suddenly rushed toward them. The truck seemed to be out of control and showed no signs of slowing down! Jenny's gaze was still on Alec, and she didn't notice the truck on the right, but Alec did.
"Jenny!" he exclaimed and then acted on instinct.
He turned the steering wheel sharply to the right, then protected Jenny in his arms. A loud bang ensued, and both of them felt the loss of gravity.
The next moment, their car fell back onto the ground heavily. Jenny tried to open her eyes to see what had happened, but she passed out due to the huge impact.
