Chapter 1393
Chapter 1393 Gilbert and Marigold (68)
Everyone was shocked to hear her speak so suddenly. Lottie was stunned, and she explained, “You’ve misunderstood. That’s
not what I meant. I just think that if the child follows his father, it’ll help him develop better, and you’ll be less stressed.”
“I don’t need your concern. I can raise my child alone,” Marigold snorted. She did not hold back at all.
Lottie looked unpleasant. Gilbert had no choice but to step in. “We’ll have our own child together. And whoever likes it the most
will get to keep it.”
Although they knew that Gilbert had meant this for Lottie to hear, Marigold found it extremely upsetting.
She looked at Gilbert, and for a moment, she was unable to tell if he was being genuine. She thought of all that Gilbert had said
to her last night, saying that he didn’t like Lottie and had no intention of marrying her.
But he looked to be truly in love. Marigold didn’t think she could tell if he was faking it.
“I’m sorry. I need to go to the restroom.” Marigold didn’t want to stay for another second. Especially with Gilbert’s puppy eyes,
every minute spent here was torture.
Jenny got up quickly, not forgetting to glare at Gilbert before she left. Although it was an act, surely there was no need for him to
be that serious. He should have known that it would hurt.
Gilbert was exasperated. Lottie was no fool. How could she believe him if he wasn’t a little harsher?
When she saw them walking away, Lottie said awkwardly, ’Miss
“What do her emotions have to do with me? I only care about you.” Gilbert looked at Lottie with adoration in his eyes.
Even though Lottie knew that Marigold had lived in Gilbert’s their relationship, she was powerless against Gilbert when he was
like this.
He was strong, capable, handsome, and was good
“You’re amazing, Bert.” She leaned against his chest bashfully. Right now, she felt like the luckiest girl in the world.
Gilbert held her. If Lottie would just look up at him now, she would notice that the adoration in his eyes had completely
disappeared, replaced by cold indifference.
In the restroom, Marigold wiped the corners of her eyes with water. She didn’t want anyone to see that she had cried.
Jenny walked in and saw Marigold’s red eyes. She felt upset, too. “Don’t take his words to heart, Marigold. He was obviously
only saying it for Lottie to hear.”
“I know.” Marigold nodded, smiling. “I just feel a little upset. I’m fine. I’ll be alright in a while.”
“If you don’t want to see them, we can just leave.” Jenny regretted accepting Lottie’s invitation. It was just plain torture for
Marigold.
However, Marigold didn’t agree to it. “It’s like you said. If I go now, that would mean that I’m afraid of her.”
Marigold was not afraid of her. The only one who could hurt her was someone she cared about.
“Are you sure you’re okay?’ Jenny was still a little worried.
Marigold nodded. “Yes.” Then, she fixed her makeup and returned to the restaurant with Jenny.
The waiter had already served the food. Gilbert was currently giving Lottie some of his own food to eat. At a distance, they
looked perfect for each other
