Chapter the Wife 98
Chapter 98 The Traitor
Anders suddenly smiled. “In exchange, give me a kiss, and I’ll help you. How about that?”
“What…” Sally was stunned, but Anders grabbed her arms and, without any warning, leaned in and kissed her.
“Hey…” Sally panicked, but before she could react, Anders‘ lips were already on
hers.
Sally’s eyes widened!
Anders held the back of her head and deepened the kiss!
Unable to break free, Sally pinched his waist hard, and only then did Anders release her in pain.
“Why are you so heavy–handed?” Anders looked a bit hurt.
Sally wiped her lips vigorously. “Anders, respect yourself!”
Seeing her angry look, Anders felt amused.
“I’ll get the ointment from my mother,” Anders said with a smile. “I hope you’ll give me a kiss every day.”
Sally turned angrily and got on a bus.
Anders watched her leave with a complicated expression.
When Sally got home, she called Andy.
Andy seemed to have just finished eating. Hearing Sally’s voice, he happily said, “Mom! Do you need something?”
Sally felt a headache coming on.
Honestly, she didn’t want to question Andy or get angry at him.
After all, Andy was her beloved son, her only child.
But thinking about Anders‘ recent actions, Sally was furious.
Chapter 8 The Trator
“Andy, I need to ask you something.” Sally tried to keep her voice calm. “What’s going on with you and Anders? Why did he suddenly say he reconciled with you?”
Andy knew Sally was upset.
After a few seconds, he timidly said, “Mom… you found out.”
“Yes, I found out.” Sally said, “Can you answer my question now?”
Andy quietly said, “I didn’t want to deal with him… but that day, he was really nice and admitted he was my dad. Mom, you don’t know how much I hoped to be with my dad.”
Sally almost passed out.
“So, you reconciled with him and called him dad, right?” Sally continued to suppress her anger.
“1
“…Yes.” Andy admitted softly.
Sally was silent for a few seconds, then closed her eyes.
“Mom, are you mad?” Andy panicked. “If you’re not happy, I won’t talk to him anymore. Even if I see him on the street, I won’t acknowledge him.”
Hearing her son’s careful words, Sally felt heartbroken.
These were adult conflicts, but Andy, as a child, was dragged into it.
Sally felt very sad.
Her anger disappeared, and she said, “Okay, Andy, it’s not your fault. I’m not mad at you.”
Anders was Andy’s father. She couldn’t teach Andy to hate his own father.
Sally sighed and said, “He’s your father. If he’s good to you, that’s what he should do.”
Andy’s eyes lit up. “Mom, does that mean I don’t have to avoid him anymore?”
Sally didn’t want Andy to have too much contact with Anders, given his past actions.
But she also didn’t want Andy to grow up without a father’s love.
Sally, who had lacked love growing up, didn’t want the same for her son.
Thinking this, Sally gently said, “Not exactly. If he’s nice to you, you can talk to him. But Andy, you must keep some distance from him, and don’t tell him anything about me.”
Andy nodded. “Okay, Mom, I understand.
Sally finally ended the call.
That evening, Sally received an email from Calvin’s company.
The company officially announced she was the spokesperson for their new
game.
Sally, already beautiful, quickly became the subject of online discussions.
However, many people doubted Sally as the spokesperson for the game.
Though pretty, she was just a minor internet celebrity, not well–known enough.
People began to gossip, some even accusing her of using her body to climb
the ladder.
These harsh comments hurt Sally, and Byron, in charge of advertising, saw the online comments and comforted her.
“Those guys are just jealous,” Byron said. “Don’t let it get to you.”
Sally nodded. “I understand.”
By shooting this game advertisement, Sally was stepping into the entertainment industry.
If her career went well, she’d spend more time there.
Naturally, more haters would appear.
She had to maintain a positive attitude.
The company soon released the final product of Sally’s advertisement.
Byron knew how beautiful Sally was. He believed her future success was inevitable.
With nervous anticipation, Sally read the comments on Weibo.
At first, many praised the ad. But soon, she noticed something odd,
A group of commenters claimed her clothes stole elements from H country’s traditional attire.
The relationship between Z country and H country was delicate, especially concerning cultural heritage.
Now, some claimed the elements in Sally’s ad outfit were from H country.
The internet exploded with criticism, with some even calling Sally a traitor.
Sally was dumbfounded.
How low was the education level of these netizens?
Her outfit was clearly traditional Z country attire, yet they claimed it was H country’s!
Sally cursed internally and messaged Byron about the situation.
Byron was also worried.
He hadn’t expected things to turn out like this.
He planned for Sally to become famous online, followed by interviews.
What was happening now?
Byron was anxious, but Sally calmed down.
She switched pages on Weibo and stumbled upon a post by Mia.
The post was made five minutes ago.
Seeing the content, Sally sneered.
It was Mia’s doing.
It
Mia had posted: “Please stop attacking Miss Sally! Honestly, we’re good friends privately. Though Sally liked H country’s clothes before, she’s kind- hearted.”
To make her claim believable, Mia included several photos of Sally in H country’s attire.
