Chapter the Wife 97
Chapter 97 The Kiss
Robert finally had to admit that Lilith’s supposed miscarriage was a staged act.
As Robert looked at her, Lilith confessed
“Yes, I did it!” Lilith gave up pretending. “Robert, I did it not to hurt Laura but because I saw you paying more and more attention to her. I was really scared…”
Lilith looked very aggrieved. “I’m your fiancée, but you clearly care more about Laura. Even if she’s your sister, you should keep proper boundaries between men and women, right?”
Robert didn’t know how to respond.
Indeed, before meeting Lilith, Robert and Laura were very close.
And even after getting engaged, he still treated Laura very well.
Knowing he was wrong, Robert said, “Dear, I’m sorry. Please don’t be mad at me…”
Sally was stunned to see Robert apologizing to Lilith.
Was Robert out of his mind?
Lilith had done so much to harm Laura, and Robert was ready to forgive her just because of a flimsy excuse?
Sally couldn’t stand it. “Robert, what do you mean? Lilith hurt Laura, and you’re going to forgive her?”
Robert said indifferently, “So what if Lilith did it? Laura deserved it.”
Laura was shocked by Robert’s words and collapsed to the ground.
Sally couldn’t believe Robert’s shamelessness.
The root of all this was Robert.
It was his failure to maintain proper boundaries that caused Laura’s pain, yet this shameless guy blamed Laura!
Laura had clearly loved the wrong person.
Sally tried to help Laura up, but she fainted.
“Laura!” Sally turned pale with fear, and Robert was also shocked. He quickly called for the doctor to take Laura for an examination!
Abel immediately followed.
Sally wanted to follow, but Anders held her back.
“Laura needs rest. Don’t disturb her,” Anders said.
Sally didn’t want Laura to stay in this hospital. It was Robert’s territory, and if he did something crazy again, the consequences would be unimaginable.
But seeing Abel accompany Laura, Sally didn’t want to intrude on their private
moment.
Robert coldly said, “Lilith is not well. If you have nothing else to do, please
leave.”
Sally knew Robert was asking them to leave.
She glared at Lilith sitting on the bed, then turned and left.
Anders followed Sally out of the hospital and didn’t leave.
Sally felt annoyed. “Mr. Anders, why are you following me? If you have something to say, say it. I’m busy and don’t have much free time.”
Anders looked at her seriously, “Sally, I hope you’ll reconsider what I
mentioned before.”
Sally felt repelled and quickly showed her impatience. “I told you, it’s impossible between us. No matter how many times you ask, we can never go back to the way we were.”

Anders looked hurt but soon smiled. “Is it because of Mary? I’ve broken up with her. There’s no one between us anymore.
Anders had broken up with Mary?
Sally was surprised.
Hadn’t he always said he would marry only Mary? Why had he broken up with her so quickly?

Seeing Sally’s surprise, Anders thought she was happy and continued, “Sally, give me a chance to make up for my mistakes. I’ll treat you well. Don’t you want Andy to have a complete family?”
A complete family?
Sally laughed.
“So, you think I should tolerate your past actions and ignore your crimes for the sake of the child?” Sally’s tone became sharp.
Anders hadn’t expected such a reaction.
“Sally…” he said hurriedly. “That’s not what I meant… I hope you can forgive me for what I did. I feel really guilty…”
Sally took several steps back.
Seeing she still wouldn’t accept him; Anders grew desperate.
“What will it take for you to accept me?” he asked helplessly.
Sally remained unfeeling. “It’s never going to happen.”
Anders thought for a moment, then said something shocking. “Don’t you know? Laura’s face is injured.”
Sally was surprised. “What do you mean?”
Anders smiled. “My mother is a doctor. I’ve learned some medical knowledge from her. I noticed something wrong with Laura’s face in the hospital.”
Sally looked at him skeptically. “What are you implying?”
Anders continued, “She wore makeup, so you couldn’t see her injuries. But I observed closely.”
Sally was incredulous.
Anders, fearing she wouldn’t believe him, took out his phone and sent a message. Soon, he showed Sally his phone.
“I have Abel’s contact. As I guessed, Abel knows about Laura’s facial injuries.”
Sally looked at the phone and saw their conversation about Laura’s scars. Sally’s heart ached.
She hadn’t known Laura’s face was so badly injured!
All because of that wretched Lilith!
If not for her, Laura wouldn’t have been forced to jump into the sea and wouldn’t have those scars.
“Why are you telling me this?” Sally looked at Anders warily. “Are you really that kind–hearted?”
“Sally… don’t say that,” Anders laughed self–deprecatingly. “Laura is your friend, so she’s my friend too. It’s normal for me to care about her.”
“Hmph.” Sally snorted.
Anders, stepped closer, speaking seriously. “Sally, you know my mother is a medical genius. She must have a way to heal Laura.”
Sally frowned. “What are you suggesting?”
Anders said, “My mother has a special ointment. It’s made from rare
ingredients and is usually not available for purchase. I can help you get it for Laura.”
Sally was initially happy but soon grew suspicious. “You’ll give this ointment to Laura for free? What’s the catch? What do you want in return?”
Anders was a thorough businessman. Sally didn’t believe he would act as a charity worker.
What was he really up to?
