Chapter the Wife 77

Chapter 77 Impatience

Calvin asked about another matter, “Have you investigated Sally as I asked?

The assistant responded truthfully, “Boss, I found out that Sally was previously

Calvin frowned but wasn’t surprised.

Sally had a son, so it was likely she had been married before

“Continue,” Calvin urged.

The assistant continued, “Sally’s ex–husband is Anders.”

The atmosphere in the car suddenly became tense.

The assistant could clearly sense the person in the back seat breathing more heavily.

“What did you say?” Calvin asked.

The assistant swallowed and repeated, ‘Sally’s ex–husband is Anders.”

Calvin’s expression turned peculiar.

The assistant explained, ‘Sally and Anders were apparently in a secret marriage. Six months ago, Anders and Gale personally hosted a funeral. The deceased was… Sally.”

Calvin was utterly baffled, “You mean, Sally was supposed to be dead six months ago?

The assistant nodded, “Yes, she supposedly died in a fire. Later, somehow, Sally came back to life. I suspect she faked her death to escape Anders.”

Hearing that Sally went to the extent of faking her death to escape Anders, Calvin’s eyes lit up.

“It seems she didn’t have a good relationship with Anders…” Calvin said meaningfully.

The assistant nodded, “Since Sally has been ‘dead‘ for six months, her marriage with Anders is null, so they have no actual relationship now.”

Calvin remembered something, “Didn’t Anders get engaged to that actress, Mary? Didn’t they have an engagement ceremony?”

The engagement ceremony was interrupted, but Anders‘ family still acknowledges Mary as their daughter in law, so Anders and Mary are in a state of engagement”

A satisfied smile appeared on Calvin’s face. “That’s good.”

Seeing Calvin’s reaction, the assistant hesitated, “Boss, what are you planning? Are you interested in Sally?”

The rest of the assistant’s words went unsaid, but Calvin understood.

“Just as you think,” Calvin admitted openly, “I want to be with Sally”

The assistant nearly blacked out

Was the boss joking?

Given his status, he could have any woman he wanted. Why Sally?

The assistant tried to advise him, ‘Boss, maybe you should consider other options.”

“Other options? Calvin questioned, “Like who?”

The assistant wiped the sweat from his forehead, “There are many excellent women in your circle, not just Sally.”

Calvin scoffed.

The assistant knew he had misspoken and quickly added, “That’s just my personal opinion. You don’t have to take it to heart.”

Calvin continued to sneer, “Who said I was taking it to heart?”

The assistant listened as Calvin said, “No matter how good others are, they are not Sally. I only want Sally. To me, no one else compares to her.”

The assistant felt worried.

Calvin had always been aloof towards women, but since meeting Sally, he had

changed completely

He wasn’t sure if this was a good or bad thing…

Meanwhile, Daniel arrived at the hospital,

He kept replaying the surveillance footage in his mind, feeling a mix of emotions.

He couldn’t believe Mia hated Sally so much that she would even target Sally’s son!

He had thought Mia had reformed, but she hadn’t changed at all!

Mia had gone too far!

Daniel was even reconsidering his decision to marry Mia.

Should he call off the engagement?

Daniel found himself outside the hospital room.

He sighed and eventually walked in.

Mia, temporarily blind, had heightened hearing.

She recognized the familiar footsteps and asked, “Is that you, Daniel?”

Daniel stared at her face for a few seconds before answering, “It’s me.”

Mia knew her moment to act had come.

She quickly started crying, “Daniel, my eyes, my eyes… Am I blind? I can’t see anything.”

Daniel stood by the bed, not comforting her as usual but instead saying calmly, “The doctor said it’s temporary. You’ll recover in time with rest.”

Despite Daniel’s reassurances, Mia continued to cry, “My eyes, my eyes! Daniel, what will I do?”

Daniel found Mia’s constant crying irritating, “You won’t be blind forever. The doctor said you have a good chance of recovering.”

Mia noticed the change in Daniel’s attitude.

She felt uneasy.

What happened to him?

Why was he suddenly so impatient with her?

Mia quickly realized he must have seen Sally!

That little bitch must have told him something!

Mia knew Daniel’s trust in her had waned, but she understood the key point.

She needed to keep Daniel firmly by her side to become his official wife!

Thinking of the future wealth and status, Mia’s heart was filled with longing.

Daniel’s impatience? No problem. She just needed to keep playing the victim.

Mia tentatively asked, “Daniel… Did you see Sally?”

She was probing his actions.

Daniel felt annoyed by Mia’s probing but didn’t hide it, “I broke into her house, but unfortunately, her son wasn’t there. Otherwise, I might have gouged out that little brat’s eyes.”

What?

Mia was initially shocked but quickly overjoyed!

That’s exactly what Daniel should do!

But she soon felt regret.

Andy wasn’t home!

The thought of that kid escaping made Mia feel suffocated.

Of course, she couldn’t show her true feelings.

She feigned shock, “Oh my… Daniel, what are you saying? You wanted to gouge out Andy’s eyes? Isn’t that too much?”

In reality, Mia thought: If Andy wasn’t home, why didn’t Daniel gouge out that bitch Sally’s eyes?

Daniel observed Mia’s expression and said, “In the end, I didn’t succeed, did l? The one who offended you was Andy, not Sally. I couldn’t really harm Sally.”
