The Whispers of Arcanum

Chapter 6: Retaliation

The group was in shock after the events of the previous day. Maya was inconsolable after the loss of her friend, Lily. The rest of the group was also struggling to come to terms with what had happened. Lily sacrificed herself in battle to save Maya. She was successful in saving Maya but unsuccessful in saving herself.

Nico, the tech genius, was trying to find the people responsible for the attack on the group. He had been hacking into various government databases to try and get some leads. After hours of searching, he finally found something.

“Guys, I think I’ve found something,” Nico said excitedly, as he rushed into the room where the rest of the group was.

“What is it?” asked Tempest.

“It looks like the government was behind the attack on us. They were trying to take us out because they see us as a threat,” Nico replied.

“That’s outrageous!” exclaimed Orion.

“We’ve done nothing wrong. We just want to live our lives without being ridiculed for who we are.” He finished.

“I agree,” said Eden, the healer. “But what can we do about it? The government is too powerful for us to take on.”

“We can’t just sit back and do nothing,” Phoenix spoke up. “We need to retaliate. We need to show them that we won’t be pushed around.”

The group discussed their options and eventually came up with a plan. They would launch a coordinated attack on the government’s headquarters in the city. It was a risky move, but they knew they had no other option.

The group spent the next few days preparing for the attack. They trained, they mustered weapons, and they made sure they were ready for whatever might get in their way.

Finally, the day of the attack arrived. The group met outside the government building and prepared to make their move. They knew that they were risking everything, but they also knew that they had to stand up for what they believed in.They stormed the building, fighting their way through security forces and making their way to the top floor. There, they found the person responsible for the attack on their group.

It was the President himself.

The group was stunned to see him standing there, looking at them with a mix of fright and anger.

“You can’t do this!” he shouted at them. “You’re criminals! You’re a threat to national security and a threat to the world!”

The group was shocked to know that he actually believed this was the right thing to do.

“We’re not criminals,” Maya spoke up, her voice shaking with anger. “We’re just people with special abilities. And we’re tired of being persecuted for simply being us.”

The President didn’t even seem to be listening. He pulled out a gun and aimed it at the group.

“You’re all going to pay for what you’ve done,” he demanded.

But before he could pull the trigger, Phoenix transformed into a large bird and flew at the President. The distraction gave the rest of the group enough time to disarm him and take him into custody.

The group had succeeded in their mission, but they knew that there would be consequences for their actions. They were ready to face whatever came their way, knowing that they had each other to rely on. The president constantly bantered about how they wouldn’t get away with this and that his men would be here to get him soon. None of the group paid attention to him and instead used what he was saying against him just to get him fired up.
