The Whispers of A Baby (Yang Yuting ) Novel

Chapter 13

Chapter 13 Second Mother

I got to take the attention away from the lead character’s one–month–old birthday celebration. Yay! Yang Yuting waved her chubby hands and cheered.

Zhang Ling chuckled at her. She’sprobably still too young: sometimes her thoughts are clear, and sometimes they

arent

Zhang Ling didn’t push it. They had a future ahead, and even catching a glimpse of the future was a big advantage.

But having a threat hanging over her made her uneasy.

“There are so many people here today, so keep an eye on Yuting, Zhang Ling directed.

Ever since someone targeted Yang Yuting on the day she was born, Zhang, Ling had kept Xu Jia and Jiang Ning close by, never leaving the baby alone.

Yes, Madam,”

“Madam, guests have arrived in the front yard. Old Madam Yang is asking for you,” Hu Yue reported from outside.

Although the house of Marquess Yang had a tide that could be passed down, it was all thanks to Old Lord Yang’s service to the founding emperor.

The Yang family originally had humble beginnings, and even after being ennobled in the Capital, they didn’t fit in with the Capital’s aristocratic families.

It was only after Zhang Ling, who was talented and versatile, married into the Yang family and had been teaching the Yang family’s children, that the house of Marquess Yang began to shine.

Back then, Yang Mingrui had kneeled outside the Zhang family’s door for three days and three nights to win his virtuous wife, Zhang Ling.

“Old Madam Yang is quite something, Miss Yuting is celebrating her one–month–old birthday, but she hasn’t visited even once, Jiang Ning grumbled, feeling dissatisfied.

“Enough, those words shouldn’t be spoken outside of Zephyr Court,” Zhang Ling scolded sternly.

Jiang Ning lowered her head in response.

Zhang Ling walked to the front yard, where many guests had already arrived, and indeed, the Princess Royal was among them.

Yang Mingrui’s younger sister, Yang Yiying, had been waiting eagerly at the front.

Zhang Ling paused.

“You’ve finally recovered from your confinement. I missed you so much… I’m sorry I wasn’t around when you were giving birth.” Yang Yiying had returned to the old family home in Riverport a month ago and had only just returned to the Capital.

Chapter 13 Second Mother

“You two sisters–in–law are really close.” The Princess Royal and Zhang Ling had been close friends for many years..

Yang Yiying smiled. “When Zhang Ling and my brother got married, I was only two years old. She was practically my second mother. Of course I feel close to her.” Yang Yiying’s face was full of admiration.

Zhang Ling felt a bit relieved.

At least Yang Yiying treats me genuinely

Yang Yiying was born to the old Yang couple later in life, and when Zhang Ling married Yang Mingrui, Yang Yiying was only two years old, so she had basically raised her.

Over the years, she had done her best to educate her.

Zhang Ling patted Yang Yiying’s hand and heard her ask, “Why hasn’t Mingrui returned yet? Today is his daughter’s one–month–old celebration. If he’s late, I won’t forgive him.” Yang Yiying pouted slightly, looking displeased.

Zhang Ling smiled but said nothing.

She led the guests inside and entered the main hall to greet Old Madam Yang.

Old Madam Yang was from the countryside, and even though she had lived in the Capital for decades, her demeanour and grace couldn’t match those of the ladies nurtured in aristocratic families from birth.

“Mother.” Zhang Ling took a deep breath, lowered her brows, and kneeled in front of the hall.

Old Madam Yang was seated high at the front of the hall, wearing a dark robe.

“Hurry, Yiying, help Zhang Ling up. I have a weak body; during your confinement, I didn’t dare to visit you for fear of making you sick,” she said.
