Chapter 12 One–Month–Old Banquet
Nanny Jiang was taken aback for a moment, feeling a bit thrown off by Madam’s refusal–it was a first for her.
But when she heard about the Princess Royal, her eyes lit up,
The Princess Royal was the Emperor’s sister, and after years of marriage without children, the Emperor always showed her special care.
If the house of Marquess Yang could establish a connection with the Princess Royal, it would bring many benefits to Yang Mingrui.
I’ll go tell Old Madam about it. I’m sure she’ll understand, Nanny Jiang said, confident that Old Madam Yang would likely agree.
But then she remembered that Old Madam Yang and Lord Yang had already agreed to attend another banquet, so they might break their promise.
She glanced at the chubby baby in the cradle and was surprised.
With chubby arms and rosy lips, the baby was so cute that anyone who saw her would be delighted.
She looks better than the one outside, Nanny Jiang thought to herself.
It didn’t take long that after her return, a messenger came back, saying that the Old Madam Yang had agreed.
That night, after a long absence, Yang Mingrui returned home, sounding somewhat resentful.
“Why did you set the date for March 6th? That day… That day was Xinru’s one–month birthday banquet.
“You haven’t returned for a month, and as soon as you’re back, you’re blaming me. I just wanted to help you. I specially invited the Princess Royal to the mansion. How did that become a bad thing?” Zhang Ling wiped her tears with a handkerchief.
“We are husband and wife. I’m just trying to support you. After so many years, what kind of person am I? Don’t you know it best?
“Even when I was sick, I still show filial piety to my mother–in–law, and take care of my sister–in–law. For more than ten years, have I ever caused any trouble?”
Yang Mingrui looked a bit awkward.
Even though his cousin was gentle, her family background couldn’t compare to Zhang Ling’s.
“My love, I’m not blaming you at all. We’re husband and wife. You understand me best. You’re also the most thoughtful,” Yang Mingrui reassured her.
“On March 6th, you have to come back. My brother might also return to the capital.” Zhang Ling snuggled into his embrace, catching a whiff of the faint scent on him that wasn’t hers, her heart feeling a twinge

Chapter 12 One–Month–Old Banquet
‘Oh boy. The Zhang family will be busted for witchcraft on March 6th. Oh no, I’m gonna kill those baddies
Yang Yuting grimaced with his toothless mouth.
“Will he get another promotion when he comes back?” Yang Mingrui asked with a serious tone, a flicker of disgust crossing his eyes,
Zhang I ing chuckled. “I’m just a woman, I don’t understand all that. My brother works as an official at the border, where promotions often come with a hefty price in those turbulent times.
“Yuting is fortunate. I heard the North has been facing drought for years, on the verge of famine. But it rained on the day Yuting was born,” Zhang Ling said, a hint of joy in her voice as she remembered the rain that blessed Yuting’s birth outside the mansion.
Yang Mingrui’s brows furrowed slightly as he agreed to her words.
His gaze drifted towards the door, lost in thought.
March 6th arrived before they knew it.
At just over a month old. Yang Yuting was already a hearty eater and sleeper. She had the adorable, innocent look that everyone couldn’t resist cuddling her.
Early in the morning. Marquess Yang’s mansion was bustling.
“Miss Yuting seems to know it’s her special day today. She’s been all smiles since early morning,” remarked Xu Jia, her eyes sparkling with delight every time she held her.
