Their Mate, My Saviors Chapter 65
-POV
Ayame-
To say this fight was intense would be an understatement. I feel like someone has been holding me down with hundred-pound weights when I was training before. Now...now I feel light, and I feel the speed. It's so...invigorating. Edon lunged for me again and I bobbed out of the way, landing three punches to his side with sheer accuracy. He took a deep breath and spun to see me. "You know I grew up with a lycan and a wolf for brothers. You won't be able to use the same tactics on me as you would with another werebear, princess." He stood to his full height and folded his arms. The man wasn't even breaking a sweat. I glanced over at Conri, Vil, and Kyle to see Charlie had joined the group.
"Don't let him overpower you, Luna! He may be right about his endurance being much higher, but he is still a werebear." Charlie said, with a knowing look.
Right! They cannot fight well if they stay low. They are used to fighting larger opponents. Because Edon is the werebear of the three, I'm sure that applies to him too. Charlie taught me the fundamentals months ago and I'm glad I still remember it. "Thanks Charlie!" I called out and got to work.
I kept my center of gravity low and tried to go for his legs. He was built like a wall. Well, I guess that's why he and his brothers are the alphas. This book has many missing chapters and scenes if you're not reading it on [J] o bnlb. c [o] m. Then, before I could blink, I was pinned to the ground breathing heavily with around 250 pounds of solid muscle pinning me to the mat below. "Sorry, princess. The fight is over." I wiggled, doing my best to get loose and he growled lowly before leaning over my ear. "I wouldn't keep moving around like that princess." I didn't think much of it and tried to find an opening. "I'm not giving up that easy." I huffed.
Edon pulled the both of us to our feet but his arm was around me immediately. "That is not why I asked you to stop." He growled and pressed me into his torso so I could feel his reasoning.
I felt my cheeks turn scarlet. "Sorry, Edon." I mumbled before Emily came into the ring.
"Wow, okay, you really held your own in there. I'm impressed." She grinned with approval and the guys came along after. Edon adjusted himself then let me go, allowing me to focus on fixing my flushed face instead of hiding his...perdicament.
"Thanks Emily, I cannot wait until I shift for the first time, then maybe I'll have even more of a chance." I said, rubbing my palms on my gym pants.
"I have no doubt about it, Ayame." Charlie said, and I felt more of my confidence rise. If he says I'm getting better, then that must be the case.
"So, now what?" I asked, looking for another fight. I guess the energy came back to me.
Edon grinned and nodded to the outdoor gym. "Cardio and weights. Then you can head in." "Nice, I'm coming with you." Emily said, bee-lining it to the weights before Kyle could reach her. "Kyle! You stay here, we have a few things to discuss." Conri called, stopping his beta in his tracks. "But...Emily and -"
"Kyle, this is important and Ayame will make sure she doesn't do anything too crazy, but we need to discuss a few things and then...." Conri turned to me and I furrowed my brow. "Then we will bring the girls into the mix."
Kyle opened his mouth then closed it again. "Fine." He knew he wasn't going to win this one.
Conri walked up to me and kissed my head. "You did well, little one. Go finish up your work out and meet us at the office after lunch."
"Which office?" I asked, holding back the urge to jump up and wrap my legs around his waist. I'm excited that they aren't leaving me out, but I'm also thoroughly interested in finally continuing what we started before mother nature so rudely interrupted our fun. "Downstairs, and see if Elizabeth and Litty can make something for you to bring for us to eat, okay?"
I nodded. "Yes, daddy." I whispered and he grinned proudly before leaning down and kissing my lips. I have to relish these moments with Conri. They are few and far in between, but I dare say they are starting to become more commonplace. Once he pulled away, I ran over to Emily and immediately started to corral her away from the kettlebells. She got shot in the side and the first thing she picked up was a kettle bell?!
"So, what do you think they need to tell us?" Emily asked when I finally got her to stick to medicine balls and dumbbells.
I flinched and stopped the treadmill, seeing it was almost 1:00pm. Well after lunch and I'm sure we will have to fend for ourselves now. "Probably something to do with Richard." I said, as if this was totally normal.
Her face contorted like she smelled something nasty. "I don't know why we don't just let our assassins deal with him."
I walked up to her, drinking what was left of my water from earlier. "Em, we can't just kill everyone we don't like." I said mockingly and she smirked.
"But didn't you say that Prince Chaz was basically on Death Row? What he did was bad, yes, but Richard got away with torturing you for two years."
I sighed and slung a towel over my shoulder. Emily took that as the signal to start packing up herself. "Yes, he did, but he is still human, Emily. If we cannot remove him using the proper channels, then we are no better than him."
"I can't think of anyone who is worse than him, Ayame. I know you try your best to be caring and democratic. That's why you will make a great Luna, but Richard needs to pay and that's why I'm your beta." She shrugged and started walking to the pack house. "My Beta?" I asked curiously. "Don't the alphas only get betas and gammas?"
She shook her head. "No, there is a beta and gamma female. They are the mates of the current beta and gamma. The alphas don't do everything by themselves and neither should the Luna." Emily exclaimed. "It's only fair, but that is beside the point. As your beta, I vote we kick his ass from here to the poles and back."
"She isn't wrong, you know." I stopped dead in my tracks and turned around, looking for someone to be standing next to me or around me. When no one came, I shook my head, thinking my dreams were starting to spill into reality, but I haven't had any warnings or conversations since the triplets and I completed the mating bond. "No, I'm not a figment of your dreams, Ayame. I'm your spirit. Pleasure to meet you."
I gasped and the grin on my lips grew tenfold. I cleared my throat and focused on my spirit. Just like Conri said, they are the embodiment of us. An extension of our minds. "Hi?" I said, not being able to think of anything else to say. I mean, I'm meeting my freaking wolf spirit for the first time. What human do you know get's to ever say that?!
She chuckled softly. "Hi. From what I have heard, it seems like the moon goddess gave me a very fair Luna to protect. I look forward to spending eternity together. Go, see your friend. We can tell our mates the big news soon. I can feel them and it seems like they are not really in the most...interruptable conversation right now."
I started to walk faster so I could catch up to Emily. "Wait, you can feel them?" I asked excitedly. The guys always tell me that they can feel my emotions. I hope I can do the same. Maybe share the load.
"Yes, I can. We will all teach you soon enough, but sharing emotions is not an easy task for a new shifter. For now, I will block it so it isn't too intense for you. Go, have fun. I'm sure we can talk more later." She answered with a smirk and I nodded to her as if she could see me before I caught up with Emily and we made it to the kitchens.
"Why were you lagging behind?" Emily asked.
I giggled lightly and started pulling plates out of the cabinet. Litty looked to be on break. I'm not going to have her make food for us when I can very well do the same. "It's a secret. I'll tell you as soon as I can." I said, unable to keep the smile off my lips. She looked at me skeptically and pulled some meat out of the fridge while I got some bread rolls. It looks like steak sandwiches it is. "Okay...but I'm going to find out. That's what besties are for." She warned playfully.
"Oh, I'm sure you will." We heated the meat on a skillet and toasted the bread before adding some mozzarella cheese and onions. Then we walked over to the office with all the food on the trolley. Before I went to knock, I heard shouting and remembered what my wolf said. Either way, the food will get cold. I can't hide from them forever and I like hot food. I knocked on the door quietly, knowing, even through all that screaming, they would still hear me. The door opened and Papa Oden was the one who welcomed Emily and I. "Oh hello ladies, come on in."
When I pushed the trolly through, Charlie looked like he was about to kill Conri and Vil was rubbing his eyes while Edon, Kyle, and Vince were throwing back shots. Yeah...really not the meeting to interrupt. "Are you sure we can still have lunch? We can meet up later?" I asked, feeling the anger flooding through the room, especially from my triplets. I winced at the overwhelming power and my wolf whimpered inside my mind.
The three of them darted their attention my way and the anger turned into curiosity before all three of their eyes shifted to black, orange, and yellow. "Your wolf has awakened." Vil said, breaking the silence.
I bit my lip. "Y-yes she has, but I'm hungry and I would really like to eat now.... Can we talk about this later?"
They snapped out of it, feeling my discomfort, and Edon walked up grabbing a tray of the sandwiches. "Of course, princess. We need to talk to you anyway about something else, but trust me, we will talk about this later." He said, leaning down and kissing my cheek.
"Fair." I walked over to Conri's desk and put another tray down while Edon placed his on the coffee table. "We can talk while we eat." I said with more of an authoritative tone that I had used only a couple times before on our flight back from the island. The room froze and turned to me. Charlie looked shocked at first but his smile overtook any other emotion soon after.
"No way. Did she just use...?" He started to ask a question, but one look from Conri was enough to shut that down. Charlie cut that question short and grabbed a sandwich instead. "I mean, as you wish, Luna." He patted my head and everyone convened in the seating area. Once Vil pulled me onto his lap, I looked around the room at everyone eating silently. "Alright, start talking."
