The Twilight of Death Verse

Chapter Fight for the Throne!

“Are you all prepared?” G maintains his seriousness. “We’ll arrive there just a minute after I ended the call with the queen. The later we arrive, the more dangerous the situation will become.”

“Let’s just get this over with,” Crystl cracks his fists.

“Do you realize the reason why I want you to rule Death verse?”

“It could’ve been a coincidence,” Crystl glares at G. “Unless you already know about this.”

“I just found out from the call that one of Naxo’s elite officer is Voix’s daughter.” G glares back at him, “We all hate to choose between two important things, but this time… you’ll have to choose.”

“There could be another way,” Crystl sighs. “I can’t be the king…”

“There is… and that is to kill,” G’s face turns grim. “I’m not saying… I’m just saying…”

“How did it end up like this?”

As the portal links Death verse to the Timeless River opens…

“Dr. Cristina Nasci Bios,” G glares at Naxo a few feet from the queen. “How fancy of you to walk in my territory… with uh… that woman… or is it a dumb decision?”

“Mr. Gabriel Celxion Fallasleep,” she answers back. “Since Voix is no longer around and his male child is dead… I reckon that the first daughter should take his place as the new ruler of Death verse… or you doubt that she is not his child.”

“Oh, I believe you,” G grins at her. “You are a doctor… I was just surprised to see the queen surprised also about this illegitimate child of his. Who did he fuck, you which is definitely disgusting for we are all related as Supreme Beings or one of your Life beings?”

“Of course, it is the latter… you nincompoop,” Cristina scorns. “Although it was artificially inseminated to one of my most loyal slaves, she was treated as a royalty…”

“I’m sorry, I wasn’t paying attention,” G sticks out his tongue as he looks back into the portal. “Get your asses in here…”

“You are testing my patience, G,” Cristina clenches her fists.

Queen Cycloe silently turns her attention towards the portal while warily looking back Cristina and her subordinates. Coming out from the portal are Lightzelle, Darkzelle, Savos, Vol-jan, Strika, and Crystl. From the throne room’s entrance, the eight knights of death and the three god slayers enter. They are all surprised to find out that there are intruders in the castle that went undetected…

“Now this has become more interesting,” Vol-jan grins as he glares at his nemesis, Des-lo just behind Cristina, “but I am under strict orders to remain calm no matter what…”

“What is the meaning of this?” Claad Moir raises his weapon at them as well as the other Death gods behind him. “Do you think that this castle is a park where you can walk to?”

“At ease, first knight,” the queen calms them down. “Put your weapons away… this is just a meeting between two Supreme Beings…”

“Mother, please explain…” Princess Darling cautiously walks towards her mother as she passes in between the two parties, “what is happening?”

“Darling, I want you to meet your elder sister… Tai Foun…”

Chapter 10: Fight for the Throne!

“Why don’t you go to your allies, Crystl?” Lt. Strika pats his shoulders. “They might’ve missed you in your absence.”

“Don’t be silly,” Crystl shows his disinterest. “I shouldn’t even be here…”

“Apparently, the two Supreme Beings are discussing some serious things with the Death queen inside that room while we are left with our guards up because of those goons…” Vol-jan glares continuously at Des-lo. “Those goons are equivalent to our Crimson Squad…”

“Our… huh,” Lightzelle teases Vol-jan. “I thought you don’t want to be a part of Crimson Squad, who changed your mind?”

“It does not concern you, bug off…” Vol-jan growls at her. “I’m having a stare down…”

“Whatever,” Lightzelle shrugs her shoulders. “So Crystl, aren’t you going to show me around after this?”

“Hell no,” Crystl looks at Lightzelle as he remembers G and him talking about his mixed feelings. “I uh… won’t… not now…”

Across them are the Life’s Elite Squad which consist of the Death goddess Tai Foun, Life god Des-lo, Fallen Celestial god Galvavon, Chaos god Raijin, Equilibrium god Spriggan, and Destiny god F’lux. Apart from Des-lo having a staring contest with Vol-jan, the others seem busy talking amongst themselves while also keeping their guards up. Meanwhile, the eight knights, Livanne, and Jet are keeping their distance from the two groups while guarding the giant door of the throne room where they are in.

“Is it just me or Crystl is really distancing himself away from us, what do you think?” Aargon asks Junto.

“If you are looking into that standpoint without trying to assess the situation, then I guess he is, Smowk” Junto addresses Aargon with his title. “However, this could be a tactical strategy since the other side is apparently the adversary…”

“We can’t just let our guards down,” Livanne looks at Tai Foun. “I can’t believe that she is Voix’s illegitimate child…”

“Watch your mouth, Nymbus,” Jet warns Livanne. “They might mistake your comments as words against them…”

“Still,” Majo cautiously surveys the enemies, “we might be serving our new queen…”

“That’s not right, Gusius,” Lichten disagrees with Majo. “I believe that Princess Strotus will be next in line…”

“Princess Strotus Darling will still be eligible since she is of pure blood,” Fumi Belille analyzes the situation. “The only problem is if Lord Voix made a written promise in his will that Tai Foun will be the next queen…”

“Let’s just hope for the best,” Smag Jazz sighs, “and hope that this won’t end with another war…”

How indeed… did it end up like this?

If you do not want to be a king, you’ll still have to take action.

You don’t want this universe to lose its freedom, do you?

You know what to do…

“Damn it,” Crystl stands up from where he sits.

“What are you smirking at, Xeel?” Cristina glares at G while Queen Cycloe and Princess Darling are discussing political matters.

G clears his throat, “Nothing… I was just… distracted…”

“Moving on… then…” the queen then continues with her proposition.

“Are you really the son of Lord Voix?” Crystl asks Tai Foun. “Do you know anything about politics?”

“Of course I do,” she answers back. “I came here because I want to take my rightful place as the firstborn.”

“Queen Cycloe is still alive though,” Crystl cautiously approaches the other party. “Unless she was dead… then one of you half-sisters would have to take the place.”

“Crystl, what are you doing?” Lightzelle gets anxious. “You are going to start a war!”

“Shush, let him speak,” Vol-jan grins. “This is getting good.”

“What the fuck is he doing?” Claad Moir gets alarmed.

“I think he is confronting the enemies,” Myst Conveya analyzes the sudden escalation of the situation.

“Should we stop them?” Fugn Junto asks.

“I don’t know what to decide on it,” Smag Jazz hesitates.

“However, this world is run by a patriarch as far as I am concerned,” Crystl continues to rant.

Spriggan blocks his path, “That’s far enough… Death being.”

“You are not the one I am talking to, whoever the hell you are…” Crystl glares at him. “This is my world, my universe… MY KINGDOM…”

Savos raises his defenses, “Get ready guys…”

“Don’t get in the way of the future Death King, bastard!” Vol-jan summons his dark spear.

“The future king?” Gusius Majo reacts to what she hears. “That man is a commoner!”

“Dimwit,” Vol-jan berates her. “And you call yourself a high-ranking whatsoever! You know nothing of him!”

“And… you know something about him?” Comulus Jet prepares for an all-out assault. “We’ve been comrades longer than you have ever been!”

“But this camaraderie is different from yours,” Vol-jan looks back at his squad. “Tell them that I am saying the truth…”

“Yes, he is telling the truth,” Savos backs him up, “but you should rather hear it from your future king…”

“Is that true?” Tai Foun moves forward as the others behind her literally prepare for a fight.

The tension arises as they are all waiting for Crystl to say it himself.

“Oh dear, this is complicated…” F’lux looks at the Crimson Squad in front of them and the Death beings on the right.

“I have a bad feeling about this, kids…” Galvavon stretches out his wings. “It looks like this will become a two on one assault…”

“Well, what is your answer?” Tai Foun summons her headed ax.

“I am Cyrrus Crystl of the Void Family, a noble family that descended directly from the royal line.” He turns his arms into blades, “I will not allow you to rule my world!”

G emerges out of the room clapping his hands, everybody else is shocked over the revelation coming from Crystl. Thought to be a just a lucky commoner, Crystl shocks them all… except for the Crimson Squad, the queen, and the princess though…

“That is exactly my answer to you, Cristina,” G smirks again. “You see, I won’t let you use your puppet to get this world for your own experiments!”

“It looks like negotiations are over then,” Cristina heads to her subjects. “We will be back… and you will all suffer the consequences of your actions towards the Supreme Being of Life!”

“I won’t be doing that if I were you,” G hatches his own scheme. “LET US DO THIS FORMALLY… I mean this world has been met by too much bloodshed recently… I propose a battle, not a war…”

Spriggan grins at Crystl as he moves back to Cristina, “A battle is what I need to relieve this stiffness in my shoulders, what do you say Death King?”

“You won’t be fighting him though…” Lt. Strika pats Crystl in the shoulder, “I will fight in his place.”

“I haven’t settled my score with that human turned god over there,” Vol-jan refers to Des-lo as he grips his dark spear harder than ever.

“Look at that,” G approaches Crystl while talking to Cristina. “It seems like your ‘subjects’ and my ‘allies’ are rearing for a fight amongst themselves… so what about we take this fight away from this world and go to another… perhaps uninhabited universe…”

“No,” Cristina refutes. “As I was saying… I’ll give Death Verse three months to prepare. This is war…”

“GOD-DIGLETT SON OF A BEEDRILL!”

“What’s wrong with him?” Crystl asks Vol-jan. “I haven’t seen G like that…”

“I don’t know,” Vol-jan shrugs his shoulders. “This is first time as well…”

“Perhaps his smooth talking didn’t work out well, I assume…” Lightzelle makes her own conclusion.

“You’re probably right,” Crystl remembers the time he smooth talks the Death Queen. “Yeah, you’re absolutely right…”

“Cyrrus, a minute of your time please?” Princess Strotus Darling excuses him from the others.

“What is it? Is it about my nobility?” Crystl sighs, “I just use my status to protect this world from the enemy…”

“It’s not about that,” the princess looks away. “I already know that ever since I accidentally overheard your conversation a week ago.”

“A week ago?” Crystl looks a G who is dropping rants and trash talks everywhere. “I’ve been in there for a month or two already…”

“So what are you planning to do now?” she asks him anxious of what transpired. “We have to prepare for another war again…”

“I don’t know,” Crystl breathes out heavily. “I’m not meant to lead this world and I do not have the qualities of becoming your leader. I will rely on G…” he sees the Sleep God raising his arms towards the heavens, “what the hell is he doing?”

“Let’s go back to the group and find out…”

“He is putting up a powerful barrier to protect Death Verse from the like of the enemies,” Bezal leers at Crystl. “So, your highness, what’s your next step?”

“I don’t know fellow highness,” Crystl leers back at Bezal. “I just use my nobility to protect my world.”

“Doing that, you already assumed leadership for this world.” Lt. Strika commends him, “I salute you for that…”

“Kuh, I… uh… just… gosh… I just used it to protect my world.” Crystl tries to explain, “I didn’t…”

“It’s too late to explain, kid,” Vol-jan pats him in the back. “You did what you had to and we’ll back you up. Three months is a lot to completely change this place and renovate this into a near-impenetrable fortress.”

“Change,” Crystl comes up with a great idea in mind. “Vol-jan, you genius!”

“Shit, I am?”

“Typographical error, maybe,” Bezal smirks.

“Damn you, Chaos being,” Vol-jan glares at him.

“There he goes,” Lightzelle grins as Crystl runs off to his fellow Death beings. “Let this world’s king do his work, right G?”

“Yeah,” G cracks his fists. “Training is over guys…”

“So you’re apparently the highest of us nobles suddenly,” Claad Moir rubs his own forehead. “That is surely surprising…”

“I should be lowering my head, ain’t it?” Fugn Junto lowers his head as a joke. “Considering you’ll be the future king, I will bow down as well.”

“Come on,” Crystl rounds them up. “Please work with me…”

“Of course we will,” Myst Conveya puts on a serious face. “What’s you plan, Cyrrus?”

“Yeah,” Nymbus Livanne approaches him. “What’s the plan?”

“You are a vital part of the plan Nymbus,” Crystl explains to everyone. “Nymbus was the architect of this universe. She designed every nook and cranny of this world and she is the only one capable of doing it. I need you to fortify this place and turn it into the most impenetrable fortress you could possibly design it.”

“It will take a lot of my power, just like when I first designed this world,” Nymbus Livanne explains, “However, I can only fortify it to the best of my abilities. We still need some sort of primary defense…”

“Maybe… we can live up to your expectations,” Smowk walks forward. “Claad and I have been training hard to recreate the event where you beat us. Our Golems can be used as a primary defense.”

“That’s good enough,” Crystl fist bumps Smowk. “Crimson Squad and I would be protecting the frontlines while you guys protect the universe itself, any other suggestions?”

“I have a suggestion,” Gusius Majo raises her hand. “First of all, sorry if I was mean to you for being a commoner… I’m sorry.”

“It’s forgiven,” Crystl nods in agreement. “Please treat the reapers equally from now on too…”

“I will, your majesty.” She lowers her head, “I suggest that we cover the entire universe with an illusory cloud to misdirect the enemies…”

“That’s a great suggestion, by the way,” Crystl gives her thumbs up. “You guys will be protecting the universe, please do your best! I’ll convene with the others to discuss our masterplan.”

“What’s up, Death King?” Bezal greets Crystl again, “what have you guys discussed over there?”

“You know,” Crystl grins, “the usual…”

“Are you ready to take responsibility now, Crystl?” G asks him. “You will become their king…”

“I think I am ready,” Crystl looks back at him, “but this universe is still your responsibility.”

“There you have it,” Lightzelle claps her hands. “We finally have another king in our midst, so how are we going to fight?”
