Chapter 24
Chapter 24 Can You Teach Me Your Ways?
Elizabeth had witnessed Liam’s cold face and demeanor before bul never experienced it for herself. She wanted to help Mary out to benefit herself in the future, but she did not dare say a word at that moment.
Elizabeth also noticed that Liam was not listening to her. “This is the first time he’s not letting me have my way. Is this because of Gwyneth? She thought. Elizabeth could not help but glance at the woman. She became mad when she saw how much Gwyneth was
enjoying the show.
Mary was fired, partly because of her actions and partly because Liam wanted to exemplify her. The servants in the Luther residence did not treat Gwyneth badly; they mainly just ignored her. Although Gwyneth did not mind that, Liam was not thrilled.
As expected, everyone’s attitude toward Gwyneth changed drastically alter Mary’s departure. Regardless of whether they willingly did it.
they finally treated her as the lady of the house.
Elizabeth stayed for dinner that night. She was touched by the fact that Liam had invited a five–star chef to cook for them in the mansion. She assumed he had prepared this to celebrate her leaving the hospital.
The dinner table was filled with all kinds of delicacies, and the aroma of the food rushed into the people’s noses. However, there was a
bowl of spaghetti near the head of the table.
When Gwyneth walked down from the second floor and saw the bowl of noodles, she could not help but feel a stir in her heart. She glanced at Liam to see an indifferent look on his face. The two chuckled to themselves, knowing that the other dishes were just a cover-
- up.
Liam did not hesitate to reach for the spaghetti at the table. Gwyneth, who sat on the side, was slowly drinking her soup and gauging the
man’s reaction.
‘Is this soup a love potion or something? Why does Liam look kinda… Less annoying?”
To everyone’s surprise, Liam did not put anything else on his plate after taking a small bite of the noodles. “Mrs. Luther…”
Gwyneth paused and met Liam’s eyes.
“Can you cook me another portion of this? I like your food best.”
Gwyneth. Elizabeth, and the chef froze at the sound of that.
Elizabeth even put her hands under the table and clenched her fists. She had never heard him request a dish in all the years she had known Liam. ‘Is her food actually incomparable to the skills of this five–star chef?‘ She thought.
She took a deep breath, and a faint smile appeared on her lips. “I didn’t know you cooked, Ms. Glen. If so, why did Liam invite a chef to
cook tonight? Or were you the one who arranged this?”
Gwyneth slightly moved her neck and wiped the corner of her mouth with a napkin when she heard Elizabeth’s blatant embellishment.”
When will this little phony stop?” 1
Elizabeth was clearly directing her words to the chef. Liam would only hire someone who big restaurants wanted. The cook could not rest after realizing his skills were being taunted. He walked up to Liam and nodded as a basic courtesy. “Mr. Luther, if you allow it, I would
really like to go up against Mrs. Luther’s cooking skills.”
“You should agree, Liam. Otherwise, he would lose confidence in his skills.”
Hearing this, Liam looked at Gwyneth and saw that she was indifferent. She did not accept nor reject the challenge.
“Alright then,” said Liam. He did not agree to have the competition because he wanted to decide on a winner but to taste Gwyneth’s cooking again. He knew that she would not cook for him if he asked.
What a hassle,” Gwyneth muttered in her heart as she got up and nodded to the chef. The two of them then walked toward the kitchen. together.
Elizabeth was overjoyed to know that Gwyneth would go head–to–head against the chef. ‘Although there isn’t much of an audience, it will still affect her prestige and arrogance when she loses.”
Half an hour later, the servants brought Gwyneth and the chef’s food to the table. Liam and Elizabeth acted as judges and tasted the two dishes.
Liam knew which plate of food was Gwyneth’s without even asking. One of the dishes had no taste at all, while the other was full of flavor. There was a slight change in Elizabeth’s expression after she tasted Gwyneth’s dish as well. She took a sip of water and thought of how to phrase her opinion. When the chef looked at the two, he reluctantly tried a bite of Gwyneth’s food, and his pupils dilated.
“Mrs. Luther, I admit defeat…”
Elizabeth’s heart went cold when he heard those words. She knew that there was no use for her to object.
“Can you teach me your ways, Mrs. Luther?”
Hearing that, Gwyneth could not help but laugh. She glanced at Liam and saw that he was staring at her. This made her heart flutter, and she quickly looked away.
