Chapter 19
Chapter 19 A Real Husband?
Upon disembarking from the plane, Gwyneth did not wait for Wesley; instead, she made a beeline for the exit as if her life depended on it. She initially planned to return to her apartment, but with all her belongings still at the Luther residence, she reluctantly changed her destination. However, upon reaching the mansion’s entrance, she found herself blocked. Surrounded by journalists both inside and out, she turned to leave but was caught in the throng.
“Gwyneth, is it true that you and Liam have divorced?”
“Will AMC Group and Luther Corporation collaborate in the future?”
“Do you have anything to say about Liam recently accompanying Miss Lisle at the hospital?”
As the barrage of questions rained down, Gwyneth felt overwhelmed. Then, realizing that Liam would be returning soon, she panicked.” Regarding my relationship with Liam, we will hold a press conference to answer all your questions in a few days.” Spotting a gap in the crowd of reporters, Gwyneth made a break for it but was interrupted at the last moment.
“Mr. Luther has arrived!”
Gwyneth knew this spelled trouble and tried to hurry away, but the reporters intercepted her again and pushed her next to Liam. ‘It is
ridiculous!”
“Thank you all for your concern about my relationship with Gwyneth…” Liam’s lips curled into a sudden smile. She felt a foreboding
sensation. “Gwyneth and I have a harmonious marriage and have no plans to divorce.”
The clamor of the journalists took Gwyneth aback. “What is this man saying?”
The Luther family’s bodyguards, who had been conspicuously absent, finally appeared and escorted the journalists out, leaving her alone
with Liam.
“Liam-” Gritting her teeth, Gwyneth, who had maintained an outwardly calm demeanor even through her marriage, now felt anger flooding
her heart.
“Anger is bad for your health, Miss Glen.” Liam said. “There’s no way we’re getting divorced!”
The taunting tone ignited her resolve. She stormed past Liam and into the mansion, heading straight for the guest room, where she
remained for the night.
The next day, Gwyneth arrived at AMC Group early to attend to company malters. She had not been working long when the office door was abruptly opened. Noticing the excitement on Wesley’s face. Gwyneth raised an eyebrow. “Have you forgotten how to knock because I’ve
been away too long?”
Hearing her words. Wesley hesitated before scratching his head and laughing awkwardly.
“What’s going on?” Gwyneth chuckled, then watched him approach and place his phone in front of her.
“Boss, you’ve gone viral…”
At his words, Gwyneth picked up Wesley’s phone and saw that the journalists had captured the accidental kiss between her and Liam on the plane. There was no doubt that her identity had been exposed during the piano competition. She tapped her fingers on the desk, speechless. It was hard to believe that she would make headlines with such an ambiguous photo one day.
“Um, boss…”
Gwyneth’s thoughts were interrupted as she turned her head to look at Wesley, who wore an expression of curiosity. She remained expressionless.
“So, what is really going on between you and Mr. Luther? I thought you were already divorced. Could there be some secret operation?”
“What are you trying to say?” Gwyneth replied, subtly flexing her wrist, feeling her dormant muscles awaken as if anticipating a potential. need for action.
Immersed in his fantasies, Wesley did not notice the impending danger and continued to speak. “I have this strong premonition that your former hubby might actually become a real hubby after a while.” The moment Wesley finished speaking, he felt a chilling wind approaching. By the time he realized it, it was too late. “Ah, boss, I was wrong; please forgive me!” Wesley cried, covering his head as Gwyneth’s blows rained down on him like a hailstorm, a look of misery on his lace.
“You may eat whatever you want, but you better watch your words, Understand?” Gwyneth felt refreshed after venting her frustrations. She casually tied up her long hair, looking at the slowly rising Wesley, who wore a pained expression. Wesley, prioritizing his survival, dusted. himself off and hurriedly ran out of the room.
Meanwhile, Elizabeth, who was recovering at the hospital was browsing through the news on her smartphone during her free time. She came across the photo of Liam and Gwyneth passionately kissing on the plane. Upon catching sight of the image, it almost made her breath hitch in her throat. The information flooded in, and Liam’s statement at the mansion’s entrance shattered Elizabeth’s concerns. ‘No. I have worked so hard to reach my current position. If Liam doesn’t divorce Gwyneth, I, Elizabeth, will always have to hide in the shadows!! want Gwyneth dead!” In the past few days, her calls to Liam were either unanswered or ended hastily after a few brief words. However, Elizabeth refused to give up so easily. Since she could not contact him directly, she contacted someone else. 2
“Larry, is Liam… there? *cough cough“…” Biting her lip, Elizabeth weakly dialed Liam’s assistant’s number.
“Miss Lisle, what’s wrong with you?” Larry sensed something was off.
*Can you get Liam on the phone… I… *cough* *cough*… I cannot reach him… “sob” “sob“…”
Thinking about Liam’s usual attention to Elizabeth, Larry quickly transferred the call to Liam.
In his office. Liam answered the call.
“Liam, I feel so terrible… So terrible… Can you… come… here?”
Liam frowned, his tone cold. “I’ll be there shortly.”
After hanging up, Elizabeth regained her composure. The maliciousness and determination in her eyes were impossible to ignore.
About ten minutes later, Liam arrived. When he entered, he saw Elizabeth’s current state and felt a pang of sympathy. She appeared to
have collapsed on the hospital bed, her eyes lightly shut, a pained expression on her face.
“What happened to her?” He asked the doctor standing nearby.
“Liam, I think….. I think I feel unwell… “cough” “cough“…” Elizabeth dared not say too much, fearing the doctor would discover she was faking her illness. But her words were enough to make the doctor feel a chilling sense of unease.
Elizabeth was Mr. Luther’s friend; if anything were to happen to her, he would face the consequences. Not daring to hesitate, the doctor immediately summoned other medical staff to examine Elizabeth. After thoroughly examining her, the doctors exchanged puzzled glances
and shook their heads.
“I didn’t find any issues with my examination; what about you?”
“Same here…”
This top–notch hospital employed the finest doctors, and given Elizabeth’s unique status, they took extra care not to overlook any details. But with all indicators showing normal results, they were at a loss, unable to understand the situation.
“Doctor, what’s going on? Why can’t the best hospital find any cause for her illness?”
Seeing Liam’s furrowed brow, the doctor spoke, his voice trembling slightly. “Mr. Luther, we just examined Miss Lisle. Her indicators are
normal.”
‘All normal?” Upon hearing this result, Liam’s brow creased further. Then, the image of Gwyneth involuntarily appeared in his mind.
