The Sovereign Heir (Book 1)

Chapter 65 One Last Show

I load my assault rifle as they slowly broke down my barrier. I could hear Tristan yelling, “You fucking idiot, you better pray you haven’t killed her or I will kill your entire species. Fucking useless blood bag!” I snap the shaft of the arrow off as my wall comes down. My veins feel as if they were on fire, all I want to do was lay down and sleep.

As soon as they cross over I open fire getting all head shots, sending brain matter spray in the air. I had to find a high priest to buy me some time. I orb in and out, popping them off one by one until I see my target. My fangs elongate and I exsanguinate him, feeling the scar tissue forming around my wound. I orb out behind the 911. I hear Yana’s vibrating snarl bringing me out of my daze.

A hand grips my arm, ”Elaina, why do you keep wanting to run away from me, you know this is where you belong. Why are you fighting so hard to not accept it and accept us?”

Finally looking up at his beautiful face sent such calm over me, “I would never run from us, definitely would not, or not accept us anymore.”

“Good, now let’s get you out of here while Yana tears them to shreds.”

I resist him helping me up, shaking my head choking back my tears. “No, this is how it has to be. I’m sorry we didn’t have more time.” Nolan’s eyes sadden. “Let’s give them hell!” I nod my head, “One last show it is then.”

Our gauntlets engage suiting us out, rising to my feet, I grip the under carriage of the car hoisting it up, throwing it into Tristan and his minions. We orb together swords in hand, spinning into the fray killing as only I can. I whistle calling Yana with my arm raised, she plucks me up dropping me on one of the cat walks. Nolan leaps up the walls towards me.

We both pull on our infinity bows let our arrows loose as Yana sweeps her talons across the top of them slamming their bodies everywhere. I grab a rogue arrow from the cat walk, jump down when I see Evil-Lynn trying to make a run for it. I made sure she remained when I forced the others out. I had a score to settle with her. “Please! Please, I’m begging you!” Now she wants to beg and be humble, I think the fuck not. I wasn’t going to kill her just yet. With my claws extended I slash her across the face, her scream bringing music to my ears, “A small token of what you deserve, you’ll die slowly looking as ugly as you are outside as you are inside.” I let the rest of the ash I created from the arrow slip from my hand.

“Kill that son of a bitch. You can’t handle one Lycan? Do I have to do everything myself?” Tristan takes the cross bow out of one of his soldiers hands, shooting him in the gut with it and reloaded it. I run just as the hammer is released taking the hit to my right heart. I begin to cough, this is it. There is no turning back. “It is time, little one, We are here till the end.” Nolan let out an agonizing roar breaking my heart even further than it already is.

“Yana, make sure he is safe. Stay by his side no matter what.” She screeches at the sight of my chest. “Do it! Now!” Yana let out a roar crippling them to their knees. I put my shooting star around Nolan’s neck, tears run down his cheeks. “When the light returns to this shooting star, come find me.”

”Nothing will keep us apart. I don’t care how long it takes; my soul will always wait for you. I love you; I’ve always loved you. I will wait for you even after death. Nothing will keep me from you.” I kiss him one last time then force him and Yana back home. Dropping to my knees from my despair.

“Get a priest to fix this mess. If she doesn’t make it, you’ll pay for it with your life!” I start to laugh manically while coughing up more of my blood, wiping it away with the back of my hand. “You think I would be stupid enough to let you take me alive? Jokes on you, we are going to all die right here.” I let everything out, all the rage I held in for the past four years. All the pain, all the anger exploding out of me.

Tristan’s POV

My eyes couldn’t believe what I am seeing. Even near death, Elaina burnt hotter than the sun. The light is blinding and mesmerizing until realization hit me she is going to incinerate us all. My soldiers would have to be collateral damage as I run for the portal, leaving them in their stupor. The sound that echoes from her mouth set a deep rooted fear in me. The skin to my face sizzling as the heat becomes unbearable. “Close it! Close it now!” Some of the blast crept through the slivers of the closing portal.

There is no way she could have survived, but I had to see. This couldn’t have been for nothing! I need her blood and her body. I need her alive to produce supreme warriors. I need her alive, especially because I wanted to own her, and fuck her. I’ll eventually make her crave my touch once I kill her mate.

Elaina POV

I don’t know how long I lay there, but I am on my last leg. I can hear Evelyn coughing and groaning. Slightly lifting my head to survey the damage I made. I am in a crater, the remnants of the structure. I nearly incinerated everything. The whoosh of a portal opening shifts my attention. Tristan is excited to see me alive and begins running towards me. His excitement is about to be short lived.

“We are going to get you fixed up, Elaina. You are no good to me dead.”
