Chapter 59 Return of The Lost Lycan Pack
We watch as Michelle and Lennox sail off into the seas of the realm to a remote island for their honeymoon. We all return to the lodge after cleaning up. Nolan and I soak in the pool of the bathroom until we were all but pruned up. “This place is what everything used to look like before everything went to shit. The Tree of Origin had networked throughout the globe, everything flourished and we were all at harmony with each other and the humans. Looking at everything outside the realm, it saddens me and it doesn’t feel like it is worth saving anymore.”
Nolan tilts my head, “It is worth saving with you and the ones you love in it, never doubt that your destiny is in vain. Things will change, people will change. Give it time and don’t give up hope. I believe in us, in our bond. This isn’t going to be the end of us or the ones you love. It is only the beginning.” Maybe he is right, this couldn’t be all for nothing, but my mind has a hard time accepting it. This couldn’t be our end.
Jaddi
Nolan and I walk to the grove; he let me go in alone to speak with Elijah. He has his back turned when I enter, more fire lotus’ have sprung up in the short time I have been here. “Little one, you’ve grown far beyond any of our expectations. Do not think for a second what I ask of you is easy for me, because it is not. If there were another way, I would have done it. You will never realize how much we love you, that I love you. When the time comes we will be there to prepare you for your next steps. And no, we did not let you find your mate to rip your happiness away. In due time you will see, it could not have happened any other way.”
I slowly walk towards him grabbing his hand, he turns cupping my face with the other. “Do you promise to be there when the time comes? Will this all make sense to me and not be some cruel joke?”
“Never, little one, you will be greater than anything we thought possible. I promise you we will be there and it will be more than you hoped for. What you seek is hidden in the mountains above the former Lycan pack. It is hidden for good reason; it has kept them safe. But now you must keep them safe.” Elijah kisses the top of my head and he is gone instantly.
I walk back out to Nolan, “Where are we headed, love?” This will be his first experience orbing across the globe, he is so not going to like this after his last experience, “The Mediterranean Basin, we will pack when we get home. We are orbing, babe. I know you hate it, but it’s the only way.” Nolan sighs heavily, “I’m just going to have to get used to it, it’s either now or never.”
Strategy
We all gather in the command center to get the terrain specs correct. “Some of this territory is treacherous and with a hidden Lycan pack, expect to be in a hostile situation. We don’t want to hurt them but use the least deadliest force necessary.”
Nolan pulls me to the side as we prepped our gear. “Are you up for this? I know you’re physically up for this , but…” I know exactly what he is getting at, my emotions and mental health have gone through the ringer. “I have to be, whether I want to or not.” Uncle Reggie will be with me and Nolan, the others broken up into teams of three. We have our best trackers coming with us. My parents didn’t know where we are going. I didn’t need them flipping out about this just yet. I know I can find them, but with all these weird energy outbursts I’ve been having, it was better to do this the old fashioned way.
I narrow the area we need to search by listening in on anyone or anything within a 10 mile radius, picking up definite Lycan signatures at the mountain peak. They clearly have a witch with them. If you aren’t skilled enough to sift through the cloaking, you’d never sense them. We are half way up the peak at different angles when we all sense movement. “Take defensive positions, try not to hurt them.”
Lycan’s larger than Nolan come out surrounding us. “We have been expecting you, your majesties.” They all drop to one knee. “Our witch told us years ago you would come. Patricia said you would have eyes like no other, please follow us. Our Luna, Liza has held on for the past twenty years waiting for you. She is not well; we’ve done what we can to keep her alive this long.”
We follow them up a very steep path to the top of the peak; into an opening tunneling down and throughout different areas in the mountain. I could pick up at least one thousand Lycans here. Their witch is directly next to Liza chanting over her. Her skin is weathered with age, her hair snow white and missing in some areas. “Your majesty, she is stable for now, but I do not know how much time she has left.”
I nod to their witch, “Thank you, Patricia, I will be brief.” Kneeling down in front of Liza, grabbing her hand. “Will you allow me to see your past?” Liza nods her head ever so slightly. I place one hand on her head and the other over her heart. It pulls me into the night her son was switched, changing to different times until the boy was summoned to the realm for training. She kept telling her mate the things she had seen, but he dismissed them. Liza had become pregnant the year the imposter was thrown out of the realm.
Within weeks many of their pack warriors went missing. Until one night, they were attacked by Allister’s twisted followers. The few they had left along with their alpha held them back long enough for the rest to escape. The last thing in her memories was the sight of her mate having his throat slit by the child posing as their son. I removed my hand and Liza clutches my wrist firmly. “Please bring him to me, allow me to die with my son in my arms.”
A Lycan male that looks just like her mate joins her as I went to my team. “The Luna does not have long to live; she wants me to bring her son’s remains to her.” Everyone looks at me in confusion, “Baby girl, we would be looking for a needle in a hay stack!” I rub my forehead, “I know where he is buried, I saw it a few weeks ago in a vision. Please stay with them. Help them gather everything they need. We are taking them to a new home. Once Liza passes the wards their witch made will be no more. They are tied to her life. As their Luna, she made the ultimate sacrifice to keep them safe. It has drained her and she has nothing left. They will be wide open for Allister’s bastard to finish what he started.”
“You have your orders, let’s get these people together and get them out. Baby girl, they will be ready when you return.” Reggie put everyone to task. Even though Liza didn’t ask, I will find the remains of her mate and bury them together. It is only right to put them to rest together. I know why they never found their alpha, that twisted degenerate took his remains to use in order to find the pack, since this last surviving heir was directly linked to his bloodline. “Love, I will go with you. I will never let you do this alone.”
