The Sovereign Heir (Book 1)

Chapter 58 Tell Me The Truth

“By the way, she only calls me Jaddi when she isn’t pissed off with me.”

“You know why I’m here, before I uncover the truth, just tell me. Was he your grandson? Was he Allister’s?” Elijah looks away towards the tree. “Yes, he was. I didn’t have it in me to kill him. Before you say anything, what would you do faced with killing a boy that resembled the spitting image of your child you had such hopes for? A child that nearly destroyed the world? Yes, I should have done what you are now tasked to do. I just couldn’t bring myself to do so. I knew eventually you would be born, correcting the wrong I didn’t have the strength to properly prevent. You will be stronger than me when the time comes. I want you to remember my words the next time we meet, “Get the skull.”

What the heck did that mean? Get the skull? I swear I really didn’t understand him at times. Bryant sent me a message, letting me know he has intel on the old Lycan pack. I am getting ready to tell Elijah I will come see him before we left.

“Little one, when it is your time to choose, and you must, choose wisely. I will see you before you leave.” Wish he would stop doing that, even if he knows, just let it be a surprise old man. “And I heard that, young lady.” Ugh, he is never going to quit that. “Don’t worry there will be a time when I can’t.”

“Bye, Jaddi, see you before we leave.” I give him a hug, which not only shocks him but me as well. I guess when your time is limited, holding grudges is the last thing you want to do to those you love.

Wedding Bells

The pre wedding kick off was such a success. I can’t believe Nolan almost beat me in the games we set up. His change is setting in faster than my father’s. I finish Michelle’s hair and got her laced up in her gown. Now it is my turn to get ready, but someone just won’t stop fondling me. “You know what’s one of the things I love about you? Despite you being toned with muscle, you still feel soft and oh so curvy.” Nolan dips his head in my neck running his lips up and down.

I try to nudge him away with no success, “Stop it, or we won’t be on time. And I have to be there to give the royal blessing. So quit it.” Nolan reluctantly left me alone to finish getting ready. The sprites pinned my hair up with crystal accented pins. I slip into my gown and secure the gold clips to keep my cream dress intact. I am finally ready. Upon stepping out of the bathroom, Nolan has his mouth wide open. Was something wrong?

I am frantic for him to tell me what is wrong, “What? Is my makeup smudged somewhere?”

“No! Nothing is wrong! You always look beautiful, but right now I have no words to describe how beautiful you are in this moment.”

After what he said, I am left speechless. Nolan put his hand out for me to take. The carriages are ready for us to depart to the shore, with Michelle being the last to arrive. Everyone took their seats, with my parents, grandparents, Reggie and a small group of Sedena pack members are seated near our seats. Nolan and I take our seats near the officiant. He looks so handsome in his cream and gold accented tunic suit.

Michelle’s dress is the exact same one I worked on back home. It had added glimmer stones to it, which shift in her favorite colors as she moves. The music begins, indicating Michelle has arrived. Lennox is very nervous as he watches Michelle walk towards him, with several of our female warriors leading her procession. I feel so overwhelmed with emotions, one of my best friends is entering a new phase of her life, mine could be ending soon. I love them all so much and can’t see my life without them. If I became selfish and choose not to die, I am condemning them all to a fate worse than death.

Lennox and Michelle’s hands are bound, that is my cue to bestow the blessing. I kiss her on the cheek and place my hand on Lennox’s arm. “May the bond endure and flourish as the love you hold for one another. May this union be blessed.” The cord illuminates, sending tendrils of light up their left arms, their union is complete.

The reception is beautiful, Michelle and Lennox love their gift. I had Azure create matching bracelets for their left arms. This not only looks fashionable but would react if anything ever tried to dampen the bond, letting them know how to find the other. Nolan creeps up behind me, snaking his arm around my waist. I close my eyes, leaning back into him. “I can’t wait for me to see you walk down that aisle.”

I pray I make it that far. “It will be just as beautiful and we can honeymoon wherever we want, even here if you like.”

Uncle Reggie comes over from the dance floor, “Do you mind me taking my niece for a spin?” That is a first for Reggie, he has wanted to take a chunk out of Nolan since the club incident. Nolan tips his head taking my hand and placing it in my uncle’s. Reggie spins me into the middle of the dance floor, before pulling me in close.

“I know you better than I know myself, baby girl, something I know is bothering you. You don’t have to tell me; whatever it is you’ll make the right decision. I’m here for you and I always will be.” Uncle Reggie places a kiss on my forehead and I rest my head to his shoulder. There is so much I want to say, but if I tell him, he will tell my father. After telling him, my father will tell my mother and it will be shit rolling downhill. ”You don’t have to be strong all the time, it’s okay to just be Laina.” God! This is going to make me cry, I hate that I’d be leaving them for who knows how long.
