The Sovereign Heir (Book 1)

Chapter 3 First Born Princess

I was born to Delilah and Titus Renaud, the current Emperor and Empress for the past three hundred years in the lovely state of California. Our home of origin was placed in a space between space after Allister, what some scientist call a dimension. A thin invisible fabric between the human world and the Primeval Kingdom, nick named the realm but also known as Angora.

*Flashback August 1999*

“Oh my God, I’m going to be sick!” With a flash Delilah couldn’t make it up the stairs fast enough and orbed halfway up the stairs. Titus stood in his same spot, stunned with her favorite meal in hand. As he was ascending the stairs to see what was going on with Delilah, he could hear her vomiting. Titus arrived in the bathroom quickly holding Delilah’s light brown hair, rubbing circles on her back.

“Baby, how long have you been feeling like this? Do we need to take you to the realm to see the healers?” Delilah looked at Titus with her beautiful segmental heterochromia eyes, eyes only carried by Elijah’s direct descendants.

Delilah wiped the tears forming from her eyes, stood up and grabbed Titus’s hands. She gazed at Titus with love as she said, “This is not something that the healers can fix, I’m pregnant. I wasn’t sure at first and didn’t want to be disappointed like we were so many times before.”

Titus was speechless, after two centuries it finally happened. They finally were having a child. So many thoughts invaded his mind within seconds of Delilah speaking those words. Titus caressed Delilah’s cheek with his hand, the hugest smile that anyone could ever have painted on his face.

“Titus? How do you feel about this?” Delilah had great concern and nervousness wrapped into her words. Titus wrapped his arms around her, kissing her forehead, “I’m the happiest man in the world!” Delilah took the throne three hundred years after her parents stepped down to live their lives in the realm. Elders, healers, and the supernatural council lived in the realm with various others. Elite warriors from around the world were chosen by the Tree of Life, which included Delilah and Titus.

As Delilah and Titus were about to stroll out of the bathroom, a portal appeared. Grand Elder Marcus walked out bowing to the couple, his platinum blonde hair almost sweeping the floor. The Renaud’s were stunned by his sudden arrival. Marcus stood up before speaking, “Your Majesty, I am here because the Tree of Life has given a vision to the elders. They wish to see you and Emperor Titus urgently.”

Delilah and Titus looked at each other both taken aback by elder Marcus. “Delilah and I are in a personal moment; we are in fact in the middle of celebrating...” Marcus suddenly cut Titus off responding, “With child.” Now I know this has to do with Elijah, “How do you know that, Marcus, I literally just took the test less than an hour ago?!”

“Your majesty, as I said, the elders wish to see you and it is in regards to the princess, the elders all received a vision and that is the reason for the urgency. You both clearly have a multitude of questions; however, the elders have not given all the answers you seek, please come with me,” Marcus bowed again in front of the royal couple.

“How the hell do they know it’s even a girl? I’m barely six weeks!”

“Hun, I have no idea either,” Titus shrugs. “Let’s just see where this goes.”

Delilah and Titus finish their internal dialogue and did just that, following Marcus into the portal. All twenty-one elders assembled in the great hall, including Delilah’s parents. It was as if the former rulers had not aged a day with the exception of their platinum-colored hair. All members of the council rose to their feet bowing. The royal couple returned the bow.

“Your majesties. We all deeply apologize for this abrupt intrusion, but with what we have been shown by the Tree of Life… it is rather pertinent we speak to you both immediately.” Elder Olivia, one of the oldest of elders, kept her head slightly bent downward after speaking.

“You can stop being cryptic, Olivia, say what it is without any further hesitation, please.”

“The child you carry is and will be that of the primeval. Their training will have to begin soon after birth. It is a joyous occasion as well as one aligned with dread. The birth of this child is the precursor of the war that is to come. She must be born in the waters surrounding the Tree of Life.” As Elder Olivia finished, Delilah and Titus stood frozen in their spots. Titus gripped Delilah tightly and tears began to flow. Her parents Evan and Andrea came rushing over to hug and console her. The wistful tears then became uncontrollable cries.

Delilah almost fell to her knees as they all tried to steady her descent to the ground. “Why, why is this happening now? Why my child? She hasn’t even had a chance to live yet, and her life is already decided! They must choose another, they must!” Titus furrowed his eyebrows and looked directly at the elders who all had their heads down, with solemn expressions. “When? When is it going to happen? How much time do we have before our child must go to war?”

Olivia hesitated before rising up from her seat, “There will be a series of smaller battles, within a small window shortly after the princess’ sixteenth birthday. It will be approximately fifty years before the decisive end.”

“Sixty-six years is all we have. A mere sixty-six years is a blink of an eye for us! You can’t possibly be serious?” Titus was beginning to lose his temper rapidly after this bombshell of information.

“Emperor Titus, I’m afraid that is all the time we have. This pregnancy length will be unpredictable as well.” With that last revelation Olivia took her seat.
