The Soul of Scarlet's Lost Tears

Chapter This is not farewell but goodbye for now

Night soon faded, as the light of the sun soon shined

on a more peaceful morning. But how peaceful it would be I had no idea until I walked into the front door of my house, as I was met with a fierce look on both my mom and dad, followed by “where have you been, your mother and I were worried sick”.

At that time, I didn’t have an answer but soon followed by Terrance saying while he walked in after me, “kind sir and madam, she was with me, as she was safe,

I sure you”, “well, don’t let it happen again Alanna” my father said as he took Terrance aside into the family room where his older brother was sitting and waiting in one of the chairs, then my mother took me to the kitchen, where there was a plate of leftovers of breakfast for me.

I soon asked “where are my brother’s at”, “oh don’t you worry, your brothers are outside keeping our guests entertained, even though” Leeanna started to say once she looked out of the window, “although it would seem, that our guests is entertaining your brothers” she then added by asking me “so, you really ok, how was it, can he be trusted like his older brother” as I strongly answered back with “I’m fine, and yes he is trust worthy”.

Then suddenly we felt as we even heard a sudden thunder boom, shake the ground, that soon changed when me and my mother saw, my dad and the two brothers run to the front door, as both of their men looked toward the west.

Where the sound and rumble came from as we all discovered that there was a huge form of smoke rising over the tree line, as it turned the pretty blue sky to a greyish blue smoke, “somethings happen”, as a few to mostly all were ridding off on their horses.

“Where are you guys going”, Elias shouted at the men, as one of them answered while he was leaving with the group “sir, that is in the direction of our camp!”.

With surprise, they (the brothers) looked at each other, then Elias said to Terrance, “quickly say your goodbyes”, as he shook the hands of my dad, and waived at my mom, in a whisper he told my dad, “thank you for your hospitality, but we can’t stay”, “understandable, goodbye” my dad said as he stood by the front door watching him soon mount on his horse that was in a frantic mode, while he nervously waited for his brother, as he abide me and my parents his goodbyes knowing that his brother’s patients is very thin.

He took only a few steps out and away from the door stopped look toward his brother, let out a strong sigh, turned right back around, retracing his steps.

He approached the front door, that’s when I met him again, he gently grabbed onto both of my hands with his, then pulled me toward him, followed by him giving me a friendly peck on the cheek.

Then turned and continued to walk toward Elias, who had a shock look on his face, as he held onto the reigns of the horse that was Terrance’s, once he was mounted on the horse he; Terrance saw out at the corner of his eye, saw his brother looking at him, still with his jaw dropped, “what!” Terrance said, Elias answered back as he started to lead the way from the house “you are, so not my brother”.

Seeing them rode off to an unexpecting concern, from the door I; Alanna placed my hand on my right check which was the same place he, gave me a little kiss.

Where I then turned as I saw both parents looking at me, my mother had a smile on her face, but it was my dad who had a discus frown, while he shook his head as he started to walk pass me and out toward the barn, as he was soon accompanied by my two brothers.

I then, walked back inside, closed the door behind me, as I went back to finishing my plate of breakfast. Making a quick pace, trying our best of catching up with our men, as fast as our two horses can take us, it was when we got close enough to the billow of smoke we start to hear a mixture of screams pain and fear, with the abundance of crashes and things catching on fire.

As we come ridding up toward the sight of men running all over the place, franticly ducking incoming arrows, and rocks that were on fire crashing on the ground, rolling into things that were flammable like, tents, and barrels. It was a huge holocaust.

Wondering who or what would be attacking us, let alone for what reason, we each went in different directions and tried as we could form and rally our men the best we could.

Dismounting off both of our horses almost at the same time, we soon manage to build back up our men forming a regiment, of who survived the brutal attack, only sending a few of them two helps with the wounded, and get them to a safe distance, as well a few others to douse the fire.

A strong, horn soon made its presents as from a distance me and my brother would look at each other puzzled as we weren’t the one making that sound, we even looked down the line at our men, gathering like a strong break wall on one side of a hill that was slightly on the outskirts of the now burning camp, trying to even keep our composure, the feeling of becoming furious of how we, were all fooled at how we got ambushed without a single warning.

Me and my brother soon sent three scouts to go up the hill, then repot back at what they saw.

Without any hesitation, the three soon army crawled up the hill, peered over, one of them looked through a spy glass, then with surprise he then past it to the others, joined his look.

When I, shouted to them “so what is it, what do you see” after that two of the three waved at me, too have not of done that, as they soon scooted back down the hill, until one of them, thinking he was in safe enough down the hill he stood up, that was when he soon got struck by an arrow, below his left shoulder.

Almost missing his heart as he fell forward, tumbling all the way down the hill. Reaching our feet, at the bottom of the hill, soon noticing that the harsh tumble down the hill manage to do the most harm as it dislocated his neck where he was looking in the opposite direction than it should be. Disgusted, at the gruesomeness at how he landed, knowing it would be hard to erase that from my memory, I soon heard Elias, abruptly shouted, “all right gentlemen get yourselves ready”.

Followed by me hearing a roar of ‘yeah’ coming down the group like a title wave amongst the men. And just like that, first steadily making up the hill, once reaching the top, it was only a second or so till we started to proceed down in a fast pace, of seeing who stood ahead of us, there was no turning back, with our weapons soon drawn, like two opposite sides collide, too front emerge, with one great force.

Colliding, with our opponents, dressed in black, like untamed beasts, it turned out to be old adversaries, an entire group of orcs soon were upon us, it was soon present that we were in the thick of it.

The sound of eerie cries, of shrieks from the many orcs, and painful moans made from our men getting hit by their weapons, being a very brutal hand to hand combat as there was even a continues barrage of the flying burning rocks being launched from a huge catapult from another hill further away from us.

Clearly hitting its mark, even though sometimes it missed and came down on their own men. Which I couldn’t help but smile, while I was even in the middle of the ongoing battle.

As the last of the survivors stood up amongst the lying bodies of both comrades and slayed orcs. Off in the far distance the sound of a horn soon blew for the last time, as the remaining orcs fled to their master’s call. In full retreat, a few of the men shortly gave chase.

“Everybody, halt, do not follow, let them go” I ordered them, as they did just that, when suddenly one of them “but shouldn’t we stop them from taking him, sir, he is after all your brother!”, I soon looked all around, in disbelief.

Until, my fears were, realized that in the mists of confusion my brother, was taken, captured by those dishearten creatures.

Soon fearing the worst for my brother, “what should we do sir, uh, what should we do now” was asked, as my men as well as a few of his men soon swarmed around me, pondering the same thing over and over.

I took a long look behind me, where the house of my new friend was, then was brought back, when asked again “well sir what’s your orders!”.

Looking amongst the crowd of beaten, but strong men, breathing heavily, waiting for my orders. When the words “well then, let’s go get him”.

With a big cheer, erupted, followed by the sound of clashing iron, and armor. We all soon gathered up all the horses, and soon was making our way to rescue my brother from the unknown torture. Shutter to even imagine, what he is going through at this moment.

Thrown in a fisher’s net smelled of wet mildew, being dragged by two orcs, toward one of their leaders, as a few other men were also captured as they were linked together in a line, tied together while tripping over their feet while being forcefully pulled and shoved.

Stripped of their weapons, while being vigorously searched when we soon made it to the orcs camp. Forced to our knees once we surround a camp fire that was in the center. The one who was possibly their leader, asked us in a slobbering tone like a dog that has a lot of slobber riding on his dark black horse, “who’s the leader, I repeat one last time who’s the leader”.

Down the small line, each of us was punched, kicked, and even hit by the bunt of their weapons, I couldn’t take the abuse let alone seeing my men in such torment. I soon, stood up, but was then stopped when one of my men stood up first and said, “it’s me, I’m the leader”, as the one who might be the leader of the orcs dismounted, walked over to the one who announced of being our leader, took him away from us, by his shoulder and shortly asked “you the leader”, “yes” he answered trying to have a strong tone.

The orcs leader then looked up, and to his left, looking up at another rider shrouded in full black, then he, gave off a limp of a sigh, followed by “no, you are not” then pierced the one who volunteered of taking the leadership, was struck by a long-bladed sword, soon after he dropped to the ground. Every one of us shrugged against our captors, as we surrounded our fallen comrade with in a split second. I soon felt cold iron, pressed against the right shoulder.

Then a deep voice came up “I told you we, will meet again”.
