Chapter Partake to explore each star
As it soon came apparent that we would be soon moving forward to where we don’t quite know. Fear soon swept over me, as I stayed close as I can to the wall of ship as it only had a few holes that I could peek through but to no avail see nothing but open water of an open untamed sea that we could be sailing anywhere.
For the one JT, who was the one that was trying to get my attention by calling my name soon go over to where I was, as he looked around him and shortly noticed that the others were watching him.
Without saying another word, he then stood next to my left shoulder, when he slowly placed his right hand on my shoulder; knelt on his left knee, where I then at that time looked back at him. He then looked up at me and started to say, “Sara, um”, when I noticed that his right hand soon slid down my left arm and his grip got tighter, and tighter, that’s where he then ended with him saying in a demanding tone. “Sara, don’t you ever do that again!”, “JT!” said, Maxwell as the men were soon taken back to see that their commanding officer was still alive not quite well but alive. None the less as he was in the adjacent cell parallel to ours.
“JT, let her be”, “but sir, you don’t know what she did”, said JT as he tried to explain himself as he started to walk away from me while pointing his finger back at me.
I was a little taken back on what he said and how he said it.
When I felt Keith’s, arm come across the back of my shoulders as he soon slowly pulled me closer to him. When I noticed that he placed one of his shoulders against the wet cold bars.
Squatting downward as he started to sit somewhat in a cross-legged form which he then patted with his left hand against his right knee, being still somewhat tired, where I just began to slink down and sat on his lap, pressing my right ear to his chest I could start to hear the sullenness of his heart beating.
He even mumbled into other ear “have no worry, little one I will look after you, long as I live” soon after that it would drown out the commotion, lulling me to sleep while the ship steadily made its way through the small waves of the open sea.
On land, the family of Sara still had high hopes contained in their hearts of seeing their daughter and young sister once again, as they try to live out their lives one day at a time although.
The thought slowly creeps, where it might be years nor the dreadful never, as the continuous night falling over the house, with tearful visions of their young sibling creep throughout their dreams. While the short but long-lasting summer soon ends.
With the approaching fall is on the horizon, the start to harvesting the remains of wheat fields, before the first fall of snow shows itself. Soon the sound of school bells rang for the first day of school as the two oldest Alana, Mathew. Tried to focus more on their studies than what accrued during the recent summer, for being so recent like an old record repeating the same song over and over, again. It still left an undeserving scare that may not be noticeable to the naked eye of everyone else but within the family it’s a stark reminder.
That anything could happen at any moment at any time to even anyone. This tiny ripple of emotion, such a turning point. For a much bigger rip, the simple question is will or even can this family hold it together.
Where upon months, to even years, it would only be a phantom of a memory; in such a way that pain and remorse. Only hoping for the best and dreading the worst, the years followed as Sara grew up learning the ways of a cabin girl scouring the deck, and kitchen as well as serving the crew of the ship that held her and her rescuers.
Keith, keeping his word like how of a character he is, from the first day he said it to even now. With, from every passing moment, by the many counts of shooting stars dance on the horizon. Keith made sure that the line is tightly tide down.
Or other ship duties that he would be doing if he was part of their crew not a captive. Years slowly go by, even if it was hard serving the crew members of the ship that destroyed a beautiful ship.
From what was can now only be described by mere words before it became a mere haunting memory.
A few of those brave crew members that risk their lives to save me from the cold brisk weathered rock. Which at first, they have been proud of themselves of doing such a noble thing, till realization of where they were came into play when we all heard their shipmate’s scream, as the ship soon became consumed.
It became all too clear, what just took place as seeing only the small handful of the remaining crew members of the Bell-Lock be boarder or exchanged for their freedom to other ship captains however to whomever it would be concerning. Which in turn gave them the choice weather or not to work on the ship or be on their merely way. It soon came, clearer each one of them made their own recommence to join the other ships just to get away.
In short, being one of the two, that was not able to leave this ship. But too have stayed aboard, was unlikely a best endeavor, for the reminder of my young years, soon became an unwilling change in what I thought I might have become, as only the quietness of the sun setting on the open seas.
Could only lesson the blow, for it was me not forgetting the past, which soon became a whisper in the flickering candle light.
That I would bathe in its soft glow, before I take my very own. Blew it out, slowly
Fallowed the turning events soon unfolded itself; I became part of the crew, as I became a follower. Trailing behind those who leaded us, as well as by learning their ways of how to fight with a sword, to shoot with pistols and even some other strategies.
With the amount of years of strangulating and the pursuit of leadership at my disposal, it was about time where, I with enough years have gone by, within only at least as it took eight years from the day I came on the ship, by doing the math it would makes me now 18 years old, and Keith who is now in his early thirty’s.
Up until, I was now able to pick my own group of men, although, I wasn’t the caption of the ship, though Captain Keen who through the many years spent on that ship I sort of gotten to know in some form of fashion.
It was obviously clear to me, as he continued to explain to me.
Even when it came to picking a few of his own men, that
“he too will have a watchful eye, on not only on me, but also with Keith as well”, though that was been a year or so ago, beside it would even things out, were not only I have, had the pleasure of getting to know Keith a little more. Practically joins me on some to all on the raids of captured vessels. We all would take a few days off. Partaking the fruits of along waited beaches, from the harshness of the baring sea.
Where we all became, to confine with more days out there. Than to breathe a sign, of relief when someone cries out “land-hoe”. Which upon the first, of many ship to shore, straddling our sea baring legs, on the loose sandy beach, even on the rickety planks of the shipping docks.
More than on occasion. In the most common of towns, seem to have, welcome just about anybody. That would like to, even I seem to have even start to notice, that after only a three year stretch there have been less and less of place’s that we considered to be scroungers have been welcomed.
To have stay, to have barred/ traded, to have once visited before. Seem to have all yet. Vanished, do to, many new taxes on tradesman.
This simplest of lifestyles that I barely became accustom to is sooner rather than later becoming more and more extinct.
Died out for, when times were certainly, and hardly for the better. Indulging, more than in such consumption of pint after pint of rum. I took in the sights, sounds of the other stores around the neighborhood as well as.
Even consuming meager portions, heavily over cooked raw meat. That tasted more like, very over cooked.
Thick pieces of uneatable rubber.
