Chapter 18
Tari roam through the deep, thick forest, following the direction Alaelra told her to follow.
Tari wasn’t sure where exactly she was going and even felt that she was lost until she saw a farm house at the top of a hill.
She then ran to it as fast as she could, thinking she would be safe there.
She went to the house and then knocked at the door.
A few moments late Anja opened the door.
It took a few moments for her to recognize him though but Tari finally did, he was the one who saved her the night the Moonlight Beast attacked.
“You?” said Tari shocked to see it was him that opened the door.
Anja recognized her as the Buganbalian girl he saved from the Moonlight Beast but he wondered what she was doing there, standing in front of his home and not in Buganbal, her home.
“What are you doing here Buganbalian” asked Anja coldly which shocked Tari as she had never heard anyone speak to her in such manner before.
“Anja, who is out there at this time so late at night” said a female voice coming from the house.
Braiba then emerged from the house, standing next to Anja and then saw Tari standing outside.
Braiba looked at the state Tari was in, she was shaken up and looked incredibly frighten by something.
Braiba couldn’t help but feel bad for her.
“Please come in” said Braiba inviting her in.
“Thank you” said Tari to Braiba before entering the house.
Anja looked at his sister angrily as he did not like the fact that she invited a Buganbalian into their home.
Anja then grabbed hold of his sister by the arm.
“What are you doing Anja?” asked Braiba.
“May I speak to you in private” said Anja wanting to talk to his sister far away from Tari.
Anja then dragged Braiba into his room and closed the door behind him.
“Why on earth would you allow a total stranger into our home” said Anja angrily.
“She was alone and looks like she needs help. What did you expect me to do, leave her out there?” said Braiba.
“Yes, especially since she is a Buganbalian” said Anja.
“What!!!” said Braiba, shocked upon hearing the girl that she just let into their home was a Buganbalian.
“Yes and she probably here up to no good. Who knows what she planning” said Anja.
Braiba then went out of the room and to spy on Tari for a brief moment, she was just sitting on a chair silently.
She did not look dangerous rather she looked frightened and scared, she could not even stop herself from shaking out of fear.
Braiba then went back to the room.
“I highly doubt that she is planning something” said Braiba.
“And how can you be so sure?” asked Anja.
“She looks scared and frighten” said Braiba.
“So, she could be pretending to look scared to get some sympathy from us” said Anja.
“Be practical Anja, why would any Buganbalian willing go to in to the forest when they know it is filled with mystical creature, creature they all fear” said Braiba.
Anja then stopped talking and then took a moment to think about what Braiba said.
She had point; no ordinary Buganbalian would want to go in the forest, at least not usually as they were all afraid of the mystic creatures that roamed inside it.
He then began to wonder what would make Tari leave Buganbal and go in to the forest.
Anja needed to know why Tari, a Buganbalian, would want to come to the forest even though they feared the many mystical creatures inside it.
“We need to find out why she is here and what she wants” said Anja before he walked out of the room to go and to Tari and find out why she came to the forest in the first place.
“Anja wait” said Braiba wanting to stop Anja from confronting the Tari knowing how hot tempered Anja was especially when it came to Anja.
Anja did not listen to his sister and went to Tari.
“Why are you here?” asked Anja.
Tari who was still lost in her thoughts, thinking about everything that had happened to her that night and wondering if her father was still alive gave no reply to Anja’s question.
Anja felt insulted by Tari because she ignored him and refused to answer the question she asked.
“I believe I asked you a question; WHY ARE YOU HERE!!!!” said Anja with his eyes glowing like lightning and his voice becoming as deep and loud as thunder.
Tari snapped out of her thought and back to reality upon hearing the voice Anja spoke with.
Tari then looked Anja with a look of horror and fear upon seeing his eyes that shun like lightning and the enraged look on his face.
She feared that he would hurt or possibly kill.
Braiba then came out of the room and saw Tari looking at Anja with terror and fear in her eyes.
“Stop Anja, can’t you see you’re scaring the poor girl” said Braiba.
Anja then looked at Tari and saw that she was completely terrified of him and couldn’t help but feel bad for scaring her.
He then claimed down, not wanting to frighten Tari even further and as he did his eyes stopped glowing.
Braiba then went to Tari to try to claim her down and reduce her fear.
“Hello, I’m Braiba, sorry for the way Anja behaved. He has a bit of a nasty temper. What’s your name” said Braiba.
Tari felt less afraid as Braiba spoke to her.
“It’s okay, I’m Princess Tari, daughter of king Atoni of Buganbal” said Tari.
Anja upon hearing that the girl standing before him was king Atoni’ daughter wanted nothing more but to explode with rage but was stopped from doing anything by a glare from Braiba.
“Why are you here your majesty and not in your castle in Buganbal” asked Braiba.
Tari froze up as she remembered the Dark Sorcerer and how he attacked the palace and nearly killed her father.
“My sister asked you a question” said Anja coldly.
“Anja” said Braiba annoyed at the way Anja spoke to Tari.
“My castle was attack by a sorcerer” said Tari.
“What!!!!” said Braiba shocked to hear that a Sorcerer had attacked the castle of Buganbal?
“Your people had it coming” Anja whispered softly.
Braiba heard what Anja said but chose to ignore him, knowing he was just speaking rubbish and his words came only from his hatred for Buganbal over what the king did to their parents and every single mystical creature all those years ago, and knew he did not really mean what he said.
“The sorcerer almost got me but a sorceress saved me and brought me to the forest” said Tari.
Anja and Braiba turned to look at each other upon hearing that it was a Sorceress that saved them.
They then began to wonder if it was their mother who saved Tari.
Anja did not believe that it was his mother that saved Tari mainly because his parents had never stepped a foot in Buganbal and swore that they would never do so in their lives but even though Anja refused to believe it was his mother that saved Tari he still thought that it was strange that a Sorceress or any mystical being to help the daughter of the man who forced them to leave their home in Buganbal.
Braiba on the other hand was certain it was her mother as she knew her mother well and understood that she would never let any harm come to any other living being not matter who they or their parents might be but then she began to wonder if it was truly her mother then why would she return to Buganbal after so many years had passed.
“Was there a Storm Maker there as well” asked Braiba wondering if her father was also in Buganbal.
“Yes but he attacked me and my father in my bedroom. He nearly ended my father’s life” said Tari as she remembered Afini who attacked her and her father in her room.
Anja now was certain that the Storm Maker she spoke of was not his father as he knew his father well and no matter how angry or bitter he felt towards the Buganbalians or their king he would never attack or even try to kill them.
Braiba on the other hand was worried because if that if Sorceress that saved Tari was indeed her and Anja’s mother then the Storm Maker had to be their father but she as well knew that her father would never attack anyone except if he had no chose and even when he did he would never be so brutal that he would want to end someone’s life even if that person is the king of Buganbal.
Braiba then looked at the state Tari was in, she was far too frightened and scared to lie and she seemed certain about everything she said but Braiba still could not come to terms with the idea of her father attacking anyone for no just reason.
“You look tired and exhausted, come you can go rest in my room I’ll take you there” said Braiba.
Tari smiled at Braiba unable to believe a total stranger was being so kind to her.
Anja wanted to yell and scream, angry at his sister for suggesting that Tari should sleep in her room but his anger subsided when he saw the state Tari was in.
Braiba was right she needed rest, she looked like she had been through a lot and was truly tired and in need of some rest.
“Thank you” said Tari accepting Braiba’s offer to sleep in her room.
Braiba then took Tari to her room.
Once there it did not take look for Tari to fall asleep and once she did Braiba came out of the room and saw Anja who was busy waiting for her to come out.
“How is she” asked Anja.
“Sleeping like a log” said Braiba.
“Good” said Anja.
“Anja, why did you think mother brought the princess of Buganbal here?” asked Braiba.
“Mother didn’t bring her here, it’s probably some other Sorceress, mom’s not the only sorceress in the world you know” said Anja.
“Then how did she manage to find our home, the forest is a big place and even if some sorceress managed to save her and bring her to the forest how come she didn’t get lost somewhere in the forest” asked Braiba.
“I don’t know. She probably got lucky” said Anja.
Braiba then looked at Anja with an unconvinced expression on her face.
“Look, that Princess couldn’t have been talking about mother” said Anja.
“And why not?” asked Braiba.
“Because neither mother nor father would ever step foot in Buganbal” said Anja.
“How sure are you about that” asked Braiba.
“Because they said so themselves” said Anja.
“We also told mother and father that we wouldn’t go to Buganbal but that didn’t stop us from going there” said Braiba.
“Yes but that was different and I vividly remember telling you I didn’t want to go” said Anja refusing to believe the Sorceress the brought the princess to the forest was there mother.
“Come Anja, even you have to admit this seems strange. Mother and father without telling us where there were going and then this princess just shows up unannounced from the blue” said Braiba.
Anja just took a deep breath and began to think about what Braiba said.
She had a point; their parents not being at home and the arrival of Tari were too much of a coincidence to ignore.
Anja then began to consider the possibility that Braiba was right and the Sorceress that save Tari was their mother but that would also mean the Storm Maker she spoke of was their father.
“Look let’s just say for a moment that the Sorceress that saved the Princess was mother then that would mean that the storm maker that attacked the king was be father, now please explain to me why would our father attack the king” asked Anja.
Braiba remain silent for a moment, thinking about why their father would want to attack the king as he wasn’t the kind of person that would keep a grudge over something happened so long ago in his past so it would make no sense for him to attack the king after so much time had passed.
Braiba had a strange feeling in her heart that something was not right and that their parents were in some kind of danger.
“I don’t think that father would attack the king but the princess seemed so sure it was a storm maker that attacked” said Braiba.
“Maybe it was a storm maker but it couldn’t be our father” said Anja.
“How many other storm makers do you know there are out there apart from father and you Anja” said Braiba.
Anja then kept quiet knowing that Braiba had a point, according to their father all the other storm makers were wiped out years ago and that he and his father were the only ones left.
“But it couldn’t be dad that attacked, could it?” asked Anja.
“I don’t know but there’s only one way to find out” said Braiba.
“And that is?” asked Anja.
“We have to go back to Buganbal” said Braiba.
