The Sorcerer and Storm Maker

Chapter 12

The Dark Sorcerer and his army of monsters attacked the protective dome Alaelra created with her magic.

Alaelra knew the dome would not hold the Dark Sorcerer his army back for too long and soon he would find a way to destroy it and get into Buganbal.

The royal guards then approached Alaelra.

They were about to bring out their swords to attack Alaelra but Delamu stopped them.

“But the law states…” the guard that spoke was cut off mid-sentence by Delamu saying, “I know what the laws says but do you understand that this war and when in war it’s not advised slay your greatest chance of victory”.

The guards then put their swords away.

Delamu then went to Alaelra to help her carry Afini.

“Is he…” Delamu bring himself to finish his sentence as the thought of his friend’s death brought him a great deal of pain.

“No, he just needs to rest” said Alaelra as placed his hand on Afini’s cheek and smiled.

They then felt the dome around the kingdom quake and shake as Dark Sorcerer’s monsters hit it, trying to destroy it.

“This dome won’t last forever, sooner or later it will fall and when it does we are all doomed” said Delamu.

Alaelra just sighed deeply before say, “We have to go to the king”.

“Are you sure about that Alaelra, he may not listen” said Delamu.

“I know *sigh* but we don’t have much of a choice now do we” said Alaelra.

Delamu just sighed knowing the Alaelra was right.

“Alright then we’ll go to the” said Delamu.

They then made their way back to the palace.

In the palace the king roamed around the palace hall thinking about the battle that going on outside.

He then stopped to look portraits on the walls of the royal family.

Atoni then sighed upon see a portrait of him, his parents and his older brother who died a long time ago before he became king.

Atoni then left, continuing to roam the halls until he reached his daughter’s room.

He knocked at the door softly but no one answered.

He then opened the door and entered the room.

There he saw his beloved daughter fast asleep, lying on her bed.

Atoni couldn’t stop himself from smiling upon seeing his daughter sleeping peacefully.

He then went to her and sat down on the bed next to her.

“You, my child are my success. I’ve a long life and lost a lot; my brother, my mother, my father and your mother” said Atoni as small tears began to fall down from his eyes.

“You are all I have left” said Atoni as he delicately stroked Tari’s hair, trying not towake her up.

“I’m not going to lose you too my child” said Atoni as he kissed Tari’s forehead.

Tari then slowly opened up her eyes.

“What’s wrong father” asked Tari.

“Nothing my child, I just wanted to see my beautiful daughter that’s all” said Atoni as he wiped away his tears.

“Sorry if I woke you up my little princess” said Atoni as he kissed her forehead once again.

“Now go back to bed” said Atoni.

Tari smiled at her father before closing her eyes and drifting to sleep.

Once she was fast the king got up from the bed and made his way to the door.

As he slowly opened the door to leave he turned back to look at his daughter.

He then smiled upon seeing his little princess sleeping peacefully like an angel.

He then left the room to allow her to continue to sleep without being disturbed.

As made out of the room he felt the ground shake causing him to lose his balance and lean on to the wall for support.

The ground then stopped shaking and Atoni regained his balance.

He rushed in to Tari’s room to if she was alright.

As he entered her room he sighed in relief once he saw that Tari was still fast asleep.

He then left her room.

He then began to wonder what could have made the earth shake like it did.

He then began to wonder if the battle outside was the cause of the ground shaking.

He made his way to the balcony hoping to see the battle and how it was going.

Once there he saw the dome Alaelra created to protected Buganbal.

The king watched as the monsters attacked the dome and with each blow delivered to the dome the ground shook.

One of the king’s servants then rushed in.

“My lord, Delamu and the rest of the guards have returned” said the servants.

“What? Why aren’t they fighting to protect Buganbal” asked the king.

“I don’t know my lord but they want to see you” said the servant.

Atoni then sighed before saying, “All right then, take me to them”.

The servant then took the king to the throne room where Delamu and Alaelra stood waiting for him.

Once there the king became enraged to Alaelra who he recognized as the Sorceress with an unconscious Afini who he also recognized as the Storm Maker.

“I knew it, you two are responsible for the beasts that are attacking Buganbal” said the king.

“My lord before you do anything please hear what she has to say” said Delamu, begging the king to listen to what Alaelra had to say.

“Delamu I order as your king to strike them down now” said the king.

Delamu then looked the in the eye before doing what no one in the entire kingdom of Buganbal dared to do.

“No” said Delamu.

“Very well then” said the king as he took Delamu’s sword.

“I will do it myself” said the king pointing the blade of the sword at Alaelra and Afini.

The king then lifted blade up to strike Alaelra and Afini down with it but before he could Alaelra used her magic to lift the king off the ground and hold him in place in mid-air above the ground.

“Put me down now” commanded the king.

“Not until you listen to what I have to” said Alaelra.

“Why should I listen to those that took my father away from me” said the king with hatred and bitterness.

“My lord, please just listen” said Delamu.

The king sighed before begrudgingly saying, “Speak and I’ll listen”.

Alaelra then began to tell the king everything about what happened the night his father died and how she and Afini faced the Dark Sorcerer who killed his father and banished him to the realm of eternal night.

After telling the king everything Alaelra freed him from her magic, setting his feet on the ground.

The king upon hearing what Alaelra said looked at her with look of shame and guilt.

“I’m sorry for everything I’ve done to the two of you, please forgive me” said the king.

Alaelra gave no reply to the king’s request for forgiveness.

“There is a battle waging on outside, we have to focus solely on winning this battle” said Alaelra.

“I’ll take Afini to one of the rooms in the palace to rest” Alaelra before she carried Afini and left.
