The Rogue Alpha

Chapter The Silver Luna

After that Derik was sent home. The healer refused to lay her hands on him. Others joined me in my vow to never call him Alpha again. I left the clearing before the guard wolves showed up to drag him away, but Alpha Mike assured me he would make sure Derik was properly dealt with.

I heard Luna Shelly releasing Derik as I left.

Even though the Alphas and Lunas had taken my side the atmosphere was now awkward. I decided to find my bro and let him know that I was going home. He offered to take me, but I could tell that he was having a good time, so I told him to stay. "We can always talk later." I assured him.

I ran back to the cabin, running faster than I ever had, even my wolf was panting when I arrived. I went inside and went straight to the bathroom, where I started my bath. Then I went into the kitchen and made some of my hot chocolate, infinitely better than the hotel's hot chocolate. Then I grabbed some left over roast, heated it up and got some cheese. I put it all in the bathroom and shut off the water before quickly grabbing a robe, my sleep clothes, and towel. Finally I stripped and climbed in the tub, attempting to soak away this awful day.

I was still in the bath an hour later when I heard my bro come crashing through the front door yelling, "DoJo, DoJo, where are you?"

"In here!" I replied, climbing out quickly to see what the big emergency was.

I barely had my robe on when the bathroom door flew open. My bro rushed in and wrapped me in a hug, squeezing me a little too tightly. "Why didn't you tell me what happened?" He asked as he let go.

I sighed, trying to shake the image of Sammy Sam that suddenly appeared in my head back out, and answered, "You were having a good time, I didn't want to ruin it over something that was already done and over with."

"Being rejected is not a horrible enough fate for that scoundrel." My bro declared.

"I agree, which is why I, and some others, refuse to call him by that title anymore. We might not be able to actually strip him of it, but we're refusing to give him respect he doesn't deserve."

My bro smiled and stated, "I won't either, and I'm sure more will join us as news of what he's done spreads."

"Give me a minute and I'll be out." I informed him.

My bro looked around and suddenly became embarrassed. "Sorry DoJo, I'll wait for you in the living room."

I nodded my head and he left. I quickly drained the tub, dried off, put my sleep clothes on and then slipped the robe back on. Then I grabbed my empty mug and the plate that only had the scraps I wouldn't eat left on it and headed out to the kitchen where I put the plate on the counter before refilling my mug and sitting on the couch.

"So, why is my wolf's fur color such a big deal?" I asked bluntly.

"Not just your fur." He answered, "But also your eyes."

"They're both silver."

He grinned. "Exactly. Werewolves have waited almost four hundred years, between when the prophecy was given till now, to see a Luna with silver eyes and fur to arise and choose her mate."

"Great." I exclaimed, "So, there's all kinds of expectations on me, and whoever I choose as my mate?"

My bro pulled a blank folder out of his bag. "Read for yourself. You, and your mate will rule the strongest pack the world has ever known, have alliances with many, and change the ways of things. Those who stand in your way will fall without grace and land in misery."

"No pressure or anything." I said with a laugh.

"I get to Beta the best pack ever!" My bro exclaimed excitedly.

"Couldn't do it without you bro." I replied truthfully.

My bro laughed. I gulped my Cocoa.

"Hey." He said, "Don't worry about all that. Just find the Alpha who completes your Luna, whoever that may be."

"Easily said." I replied, "Not so easily done."

My bro shrugged his shoulders. "Nothing about your life is easily done, yet you've done it."

I sensed Alpha Nolan approaching. I couldn't hear him or smell him, but I knew he was coming closer.

"I'll be right back." I told my bro, and then rushed to my window.

I looked out and saw nothing but shadows and darkness. "Alpha Nolan!" I loudly whispered.

His head turned. His silver kiss shone as brightly as my fur.

I smiled. "I knew you were here."

"And no scraps on the sill." He teased.

I rolled my eyes. "We have plenty of food inside, if you'd like to come in." I informed him, "I'd really like you to meet my bro."

Alpha Nolan jumped into my window, his wolf form filling the space, but just barely. He sniffed the air. "The Beta doesn't smell like your brother."

I laughed and explained, "He's not biologically related, but he's watched over me, and cared about me like a big brother since we met."

Alpha Nolan nodded his wolf head. "There's a rogue healer that I call my little sis."

My bro opened my door and took one look at Alpha Nolan perched on my window. "Oh, wow." He whispered. Then he came and stood next to me. He looked directly at Alpha Nolan and stated, "I'm Beta Mitchell, attached to the Silver Luna. If you would be kind enough to take your human form, we have a lot we need to talk about."

I tapped my bro on the shoulder and pointed out, "I'm pretty sure as a rogue he doesn't have any Wolf Wear clothes, and I'm considerably bigger than him."

"Change in plans." My bro announced, "Come with me to my room, and we'll find something for you to wear."

Once they left my room I went to the kitchen and started putting together a plate for Alpha Nolan.

They came out of my bro's room as I was debating what to grab him to drink. I turned to ask, and saw Alpha Nolan in his human form, looking much like he had at the beach, only in basketball shorts and a black muscle shirt that was slightly baggy on him.

That wasn't what had me staring in amazement at him. On his forehead, just above between his eyes, was a spot, that at first glance could be mistaken for sweat, but it was definitely in the shape of a kiss. "Does anyone else see the glistening kiss?" I asked in astonishment.

"My healer sis says that after a few days only you will be able to see it on either of my forms." Alpha Nolan informed us.

I grinned at the idea. Then I asked, "What would you like to drink?"

"Cola or coffee would be great." He replied.

I grabbed a glass. "Ice in your cola?"

"Yes, please." Alpha Nolan replied as he approached my abandoned plate with scraps. "You're plate I'm guessing."

I nodded my head. He snatched up the scraps of fat and grissle. "No need for them to go to waste." He declared. Then shoved them in his mouth.

I handed his plate to him. "This should be much more filling."

My bro looked at my now empty plate and laughed. "That explains how you had a clean plate last night and not today."

"He's not picky like me." I volunteered. Then I gave Alpha Nolan his glass of cola, and went to grab my hot chocolate.

Alpha Nolan followed me to the living room.

I sat on what I now called my end of the couch. Alpha Nolan sat down, not like my bro did, but right next to me, so I wrapped my legs around him, so I could still sit sideways, and drank my Cocoa.

My bro sat in the nearby chair and handed me an envelope. "I've been instructed to give this to you, in the hopes that you can find Alpha Nolan and give it to him."

"Gee, I don't know if I can." I said sarcastically before handing it to Alpha Nolan.

He looked at my bro. "What is it?"

My bro shrugged his shoulders. "I'm not allowed to know Alpha business. I could assume, but we all know what that does."

Alpha Nolan rolled his eyes and opened the envelope. He pulled out a fancy invitation card, and immediately threw it at the wall.

"I was afraid of that." My bro stated as he got up to grab the card.

"Will somebody tell me what's going on?"

Alpha Nolan answered, "They want me to attend the mating ritual games."

"Why?" I asked, "They've never cared before, have they?"

Alpha Nolan shook his head.

"Everything changed when you formally accepted Alpha Nolan as a potential mate, and in front of so many witnesses to top it off." My bro explained.

I smacked my head. "I basically asked him to compete for my heart."

"Exactly, but that's not our biggest problem." My bro stated, "Your wolf has already chosen her mate."

"Say what?"

My bro handed me a loose page. He explained, "I didn't want you worrying about who you kissed, so I removed this from the information, until I could figure out how to bring it up."

I read, "She will mark her mate with a silver kiss, all can see for a few moons, but she will see it all his moons."

"It's why you're so comfortable with him." My bro pointed to the way we were sitting.

"So, if that's the case, can't I just declare Alpha Nolan my mate?"

"Woah, hold up." Alpha Nolan exclaimed, "You have no idea what my life is like, you can't commit to me just yet."

I laughed. "You don't know what our life will be like. Marriage, or mating, changes everything."

My bro interjected, "While technically you could just make it official as early as tomorrow; it could cause problems we could easily avoid by playing their game for a while."

"I can't join the competition until only DoJo can see the mark, and I need clothes I can actually wear to the games." Alpha Nolan conceded.

"No one has to know that you've received the invitation." I pointed out.

"That can easily buy us a few moons." My bro stated, "But you'll have to avoid watching her at the beach, they're looking for you there."

Alpha Nolan groaned. "I don't like that."

"As her only pack member, thanks to what Derik did, I've been excused from my own rituals to watch over her, with a few mated wolves that volunteered. I won't let anything happen to her." My bro informed us.

"But won't that effect you?" I asked.

"Like you I have found my mate."

"Sammy Sam." I guessed.

He nodded.

I turned my attention back to Alpha Nolan. "Speaking of which, you don't have a Beta, do you?"

He shook his head. "The rogues aren't a pack, and higher rogues are rare."

"The agreement my bro made, to be able to watch over me and handle anything they deem pack business obligates him to go with me to my Alpha, becoming our pack Beta." I quickly informed him.

"If you'll have me." My bro stated.

Alpha Nolan grinned. "As far as I'm concerned you've been a perfect Beta, protecting your Luna while the Alpha was away, even though he hadn't been found yet. When the time comes to make everything official I will gladly accept you as my Beta."

The guys shook hands.

"Well, now that that's settled, let's hope that Sammy Sam still wants you when she finds out who our Alpha is." I joked.

"I'll find time to let her in on the secret. As long as we're forming a pack, and not being some weird half rogue mates I'm sure she'll be fine." He assured us, "But what are we going to do about the clothes problem?"

I grabbed my Luna folder and flipped through the pages until I found Alpha Zech. I tore the page out and handed it to Alpha Nolan. "He's only two inches taller than you, and his wolf might be a little bigger, but he's the closest in size. If he orders some black outfits it should all work out fine."

"Can you sense where he is?" My bro asked anxiously.

I shook my head. "He released me at the bonfire, before the incident. I was the first released, and he planned on releasing all the Lunas by the end of the night."

"Well, that'll make him harder to find." My bro complained.

I shrugged my shoulders. "Unless he's with Alpha Erik, or Alpha Erik knows where he is."

My bro asked, "Where is Alpha Erik?"

I closed my eyes, and struggled to ignore the only Alpha presence I actually cared about, so I could tune into Alpha Erik's. "He's at the hotel, in his room." I was finally able to answer.
