Chapter First Battle
He shook his mental head, "I don't like crowds, and getting up in front of them without a guitar or in a group doing acting, that's not happening." He stated firmly."
I sighed. "As Alpha of our Posse you need to get over that, but I will deal with this for now."
I smiled weakly at the crowd and made my way to the blood soaked stage. I felt as awkward as if I was wearing a dress. I closed my eyes and centered myself as I made my way up the stairs, trying to compose some sort of plan on what to say.
I never should have closed my eyes. A few steps onto the stage I stepped on a finger that used to belong to Therese. Not expecting the sudden roll under my foot, and having already picked my other foot up when I realized what was happening, it was too late, my legs flung out from under me, and I quickly landed on my behind with a loud, echoing, thud.
The crowd erupted in laughter. I wanted to be mad, or at least part of me did, but really I couldn't blame them.
I got up and found the offending appendage. I really couldn't keep from laughing as I held up the finger. "I'm fairly certain it's the middle one!" I announced between bouts of laughter.
The crowd erupted more, some people were actually doubled over from laughing so hard.
I shrugged my shoulders. "Guess she got in one last F you to me." I added throwing the finger into the crowd.
I laughed as many acted like I'd tossed a grenade, and scattered away from the severed finger.
Once I caught my breath I took a look at my bloodied outfit. "Tailor Jasmine I hope blood can be cleaned out of this material."
"Easier than most material." She replied from somewhere in the crowd.
I nodded my head and looked over the crowd. "Where should I start?" I asked myself, accidentally out loud.
"What is happening with these ridiculous games?" Someone yelled out.
I smiled. "Well, maybe we should get the council members from the Wolves and Hunters up here to discuss that."
"Are we going to survive the discussion?" Leona asked with disdain.
I shrugged my shoulders. "That I suppose depends on you and your actions."
She looked nervous.
"Although I'm not happy about past actions." I clarified, "I meant how you behave here and now."
She breathed a little easier. But still let others get on the stage before her.
Once the eight or so members of the two councils who were in attendance made their way onto the stage I turned to them and asked, "Am I the Silver Luna?"
The five on the werewolves council quickly answered, "Yes, Luna."
Then I asked, "Am I the Luna Hunter?"
"Yes Luna." The other three answered, including Leona.
I nodded my head, and then I turned to face the crowd. "Anyone who has joined my Silver Rogue Posse is freed from participating in these games. If you have already found your mate you may claim them, at your own private convenience. Those who wish to have a ceremony, that can be arranged."
The majority of those I had invited were quickly grabbed onto and held protectively by their wolf mates.
I paused for a few minutes while the commotion of movement and surprised shrieks filled the air.
"And if we haven't found our mate yet?" Another voice rang out.
I sighed, "If I've already shown you who your mate is you are welcome to go find them. If for some reason I haven't shown you who your mate is you can find me when this is over and I will do my best to help you."
"You can't just take pack members!" A female council member cried out.
I turned to her, trying to keep my cool. "I'm not taking anyone. Every member of my Posse has come to me of their own free will, and renounced former ties while pledging themselves to the Posse. You will accept their choices." I deepened my voice for the last part, and made it clear I wasn't allowing another option.
I turned back to the crowd. "I'm not in control of what happens to those not in my Posse. Technically I'm only in half control over the Silver Rogue Posse, but thankfully my mate and I are on the same page for that."
A small chuckle rippled through the crowd.
The smell of blood and the buzzing of flies was starting to get to me. "I suggest we take a break from this meeting of sorts, work together to get this mess cleaned up, and maybe have some food before we continue."
The crowd was a mixture of claps, cheers, and a few groans.
A sudden wave of energy filled the beach. "Why clean up before the mess is finished being made?" A booming voice called out.
"Don't worry, your Posse won't be around to worry about cleaning up your remains." A chilling female voice chimed in.
I looked from one to the other. "I'm going to go with you're the false gods Helios and Selene." I stated, trying to emote calmness, "I was wondering when you would appear."
Selene walked up, although I'd describe it more as gliding. "Do you really think we'd sit by and watch you kill, steal, and mislead our devoted followers?" She challenged.
I shook my head. "Again, not stealing anyone. I'm accepting those called by the real God to embrace their true purpose."
Helios laughed. "You keep implying that we aren't real. Yet here we are."
"I never said you didn't exist." I clarified, "I said you aren't, never have been, and never will be a god."
"I am all the god my wolves need." Selene declared.
I laughed.
Helios asked, "What purpose do they come to by joining your Posse?"
I turned towards him, purposely turning my back to Selene. "How nice of you to ask." I replied, "They become a warrior Demon Hunter by joining the Silver Rogue Posse."
Selene screeched and tried to jump on my back. I grinned for a split second before turning into my powerful horse, and mulekicked her across the beach.
"Now!" Helios commanded.
At least a hundred lower level, I assumed, Demons suddenly appeared and started attacking.
"If you aren't Posse, and don't want to be enemy leave, otherwise use your instincts to kick some Demon ass!" I yelled telepathically for everyone to hear, before changing into my wolf and leaping at the closest ones.
The posse members who came from the wolves chose the form they found the most powerful as they leaped into battle. The ones who came from the Hunters chose animal traits and became powerful, monstrous, versions of themselves. The Human Posse members even discovered increased strength, speed, and reflexes to aid them in battle.
I couldn't focus on much, except taking out every Demon that crossed my path, switching forms as I saw fit. Most were easily killed by removing their heads.
At some point in the chaos I felt a pain in my side. I turned, searching for my mate, only to find him in the clutches of Selene.
"I'm sorry." Alpha Nolan stated through our mind linked, "I was so focused on one battle, and didn't see her approach."
"You aren't dying today, although we might have to do some group battle training after this." I assured him.
Selene let out a maniacal laugh. "You can lose your precious mate, before he ever claims you, or you can tell your Posse to stand down. Your choice!" She declared.
I had been stalking towards them since the moment I laid eyes on her with my mate in her clutches. I stopped when she stopped talking, leaving around seven feet between us. I pretended to think about it. Then I announced, "I choose option C."
"There is no C." She said as I leapt into the air and landed behind her.
I was in half wolf form with my claws extended. "There is now!" I exclaimed as I jammed my claws into the brain area of her human-like form.
I concentrated and sent the silver in my blood pulsing into her as fast as I could. A few seconds later she let go of Alpha Nolan and ten seconds later she dropped to the ground, looking much like a person having a grand maul seizure. I removed my claws the moment I felt her lose her balance.
"Helios!" I screamed, "Come, join her fate!"
"We'll have to fight another day!" He declared from halfway across the beach.
I looked and the Demon next to him was holding Derik. Before I could respond: Helios, the Demons who hadn't been killed yet, and Derik, all disappeared.
I looked around. Selene burst into flames at my feet. I jumped back and joked, "Guess the bonfire has started."
Suddenly I had no balance, or energy. I fell into the sand and accepted the darkness as I heard Nolan crying out my name, "Dollie Jo, don't leave me."
I wanted to reply, but I just couldn't.
When I woke up again I was in my room at the cabin. Alpha Nolan was next to me holding my hand.
"How long have I been out?" I asked.
He looked at me with tear filled eyes and replied, "Just shy of four days."
"That's a long nap." I joked.
"Don't ever do that to me again!" He scolded with a smile, as he pulled me into a hug.
"No promises." I stated.
He got up, opened my door, and called out, "She's awake!"

"Over the next several months we adapted a training program, and started tracking Demons. Everyone fell into their niche, and the Posse became a huge family, with many branches.
"My Bro and Sammy Sam stayed in one location most of the time, and coordinated everything.
"Eugene took the head training position, and was turning out excellent warriors for God.
"Alpha Nolan and I took on the more dangerous battles, sometimes together, and sometimes we split up. We traveled regularly to visit our many branches, making sure they were all doing their jobs, and not falling into old ways.
"That my dear friends is how the Demon Hunters got started, minus a few intimate details I never share." I say to the graduating class before me, "Now, I look forward to working with you all in the future."
