The Return

Chapter 11

Izzy's POV

I had passed out a few minutes after the man picked me up and carried me out the dungeon. I was happy that he saved me but I still don't trust him. I'm sure he's one of the guests but for all I know he could be a serial killer.

Before he showed up Beau tried to give me food but I smelt the Wolfsbane in it. They wanted me to pass out, 'cause I was screaming for help. I knew no one would hear me but it was still worth a try.

When I wouldn't eat the food he started to beat me, I could barely stay awake after the tenth hit. Then that guy walked in and knocked Beau out. I was shocked, no one in our pack, aside from his dad, could ever beat Beau. We use to be evenly matched, until I lost all my strength.

It hurts knowing that no one cares for me, they all knew I was down there but no one even tried to help. What did I expect? For someone to come to my rescue? Well I didn't believe it at first but then he came along and did just that.

I was still sceptic when he walked out of there because I had no idea if he was going to help me or harm me. I didn't stay awake for long enough to find out where he was taking me.

My eyes flutter open as I see a dark ceiling above me. Must still be night, I think to myself. I sit up but fall back down as I feel a huge pain in my head.

I sit up slower this time, ignoring the pain I feel. I look around the room and notice the familiar scene around me. My old room.

I get up slowly from the bed and shiver from the cold tiles. I walk to my desk and see my photo frames are no longer there. I quickly walk to my cupboard and see a box in the back.

I pull it out and open the box. I sigh in relief as I see all of them there. I grab one of the larger frames and look down at the photo. Its of me and my parents. All smiles, no worries in our lives. It was the day that mom found out that she was pregnant again. Unfortunately they disappeared two days later.

I vowed that I'd find out what happened to them, and I will.

"You're up." Someone says from behind me. I gasp and drop the frame in the box, wiping away the tears that fell. I clear my throat and turn to face the voice.

It sit by the cupboard door, not wanting the person to be closer than he already is. I don't reply, only look at him. I never got a good look at him when he saved me. I know its him, his scent is the same.

He's wearing clothes now, luckily.

"Is it fine that I sit down?" He asks me hesitantly, wanting to know if I'm comfortable with it. I nod and expect him to sit on the bed but he shocks me by sitting on the floor.

"Are you feeling better?"

"Y-Yes." I whisper out a stutter. I blush looking down as he smiles at me softly. "I'm Theo, by the way." He says with a soft caring voice.

"Issabella." I whisper not looking him in the eye, fearing he'll get mad at me. "Nice to meet you Issabella. Could I ask you a few questions?" He asks me scooting slightly closer.

I nod my head and look at him properly. He doesn't seem like he'll harm me, but you could never be too sure.

"How long were you down there?"

"Almost two days." I whisper, as I play with my fingers nervously.

"Why did they lock you down there?" He asks me, worry clear on his expression. I don't respond, not wanting to talk about it. He sees that and nods, understanding.

"I hope you don't mind but my mother wants to meet you. She can help you, if you'll let her?" I think it over, wondering if its the best idea to trust people I have never met. Maybe they could help, who knows? But what could they do?

"O-Okay."

He smiles brightly and his eyes suddenly cloud over, probably talking over the pack link. After a couple minutes there's a soft knock on the door.

Theo tells the person to come in, and in walks a beautiful woman. Her long black hair is pulled back into a ponytail while she's wearing a pair of jeans and T-Shirt. I instantly recognise her and I can't help but burst out laughing.

Theo looks at me confused while his mother only chuckles. "It's good to see you again Izzy." Skylar says to me. I stand up shakily and run into her embrace.

"I missed you too Skylar. It's been too long." I whipser into her shoulder. She hugs me tightly and runs her fingers through my hair.

"Okay, I'm confused. Mom you know her?" Theo says as he stands up and watches the both of us. His mother chuckles and pulls away from me.

"I've known her since she was a baby. I use to know her parents but I didn't know she belonged to this pack until you told me her name." He walks closer to us with a small smile.

"Mom we need to help her-"

"I know sweety but I can only do that when she tells me herself why all of this happened. Izzy? Would you like to tell me?" She asks as she leads me towards the bed. We sit down in the middle. Theo sits on one of the chairs and sits there quietly.

"I'll tell you. It was a week after my p-parents disappeared. We found their bodies and they w-were...murdered. Everyone helped me in the beginning but then they all suddenly just turned on me. They made me the pack slave. They made me do all the chores, I had to cook, clean, basically do anything they asked. If I ever said no I would be punished. I-I don't know what made them hate me but they did, now I have no one in my life anymore." I say a I try to keep my tears at bay.

When I look up at Skylar I break and cry. I cry for my parents, I cry for my unborn sibling, I cry for the pain I went through.

I feel arms wrap around me and I instantly know its Theo. He pulls me to his chest and I continue to let out my emotions. I hear Skylar stand up and give me one last kiss on the head before walking out the room.

"I think you should lay down Izzy." He says and pulls me with him to lay down. He keeps his arms around my small frame and I'm sure he can feel my bones poking out but he doesn't seem to care.

"It will all be okay." He whispers into my hair. The softness of his voice lulls me to sleep.

Maybe I could trust him?
