Chapter 3
“Where are Oliver and Milo?”
Chapter 3
They’re in Mr. Austin’s office.”
Christine’s heart sank as soon as she heard it. Her two sons always ended up in Henry Austin’s office.
Vita looked at her superior, Christine, and thought to herself, “Christine, at such a young age, is an accomplished protégé of the renowned Henry Austin. She has quite a reputation in the medical field and is impeccable in her work, except she always takes the blame for her two sons.”
Oliver and Milo were quite impressive.
The security network at Christine’s research institute was from NIEN, the world’s top cybersecurity company, known for its supposedly impenetrable security systems. Yet, Oliver and Milo managed to breach it.
Every time they hacked in, the institute had to spend a fortune on upgrades.
This time, Henry had invested heavily in NIEN’s security system, confidently believing it was foolproof.
But once again, the investment went down the drain.
Vita saw Henry become extremely furious.
Christine pushed open the door and saw Oliver and Milo sitting in the office chairs, swinging their legs carelessly, utterly oblivious to the trouble they had caused.
As soon as they spotted Christine entering, Oliver and Milo dashed toward her.
Oliver, the older brother, furrowed his brow and said, “Mommy, you haven’t been taking good care of yourself again. You’ve lost weight.”
In a sweet and innocent voice, Milo, the younger brother, said, “Mommy, please sit down and rest. I’m very worried about you.”
They suddenly transformed from two little devils into well–mannered young gentlemen, massaging Christine, one on each side.
Henry’s expression grew even more unpleasant.
“You may be acting so well–behaved now, but that doesn’t hide the mischief you’ve caused!”
In a slightly bossy tone, Milo said, “Mr. Austin, my mommy hasn’t come home for three days. Look, she’s lost weight. I made her clam chowder at home, very nutritious, and now we’ll take her back to drink the soup.”
Oliver and Milo were completely unaware of the seriousness of their actions. Their minds solely focused on taking Christine back home to drink the soup. Meanwhile, Christine was concerned about how to please Henry, as she was genuinely afraid he would be furious with her.
Henry looked helpless and astonished, then he gave a pitiful gaze and said, “If you want to go home and have soup, restore the system first. I spent a lot of money hiring top–notch programmers to strengthen it, yet it’s still so vulnerable”
With an aristocratic air and a calm voice, Oliver said, “It’s still worth it. We took an extra ten minutes to break it this time.”
Mr. Austin was on the verge of a mental breakdown after hearing that. He had spent so much money to upgrade the system, and it was not just to delay them by ten minutes.
Before Henry threw a tantrum, Christine quickly told Oliver, “My dear, please restore the computer quickly, be a good boy.”
Oliver’s fingers flew across the keyboard, typing a series of codes.
The system returned to normal once again.
Henry was filled with deep emotion as he looked at the restored computer screen.
The intelligence of Oliver and Milo was simply extraordinary, almost supernatural.
Oliver and Milo looked identical but had completely different personalities.
Oliver, the elder one, was worshipped for his genius IQ, photographic memory, and ruthless eye for investments. He was skilling it in the stock market. When Christine’s lab had financial troubles, he casually transferred 20 million dollars like it
was no big deal. People might suspect that he actually had an adult soul in him.
Except with Christine, he was icy cool with everyone else.
On the other hand, Milo, the younger brother, was the cute and mischievous type. He could cook, had a knack for fortune telling, and called himself a mystic master. But his true gift lay in medicine, where he had unique talents.
Henry really could not afford to provoke Oliver, and Milo was just too adorable to the extent that he could not bring himself to scold him. Therefore, Henry could only count on Christine to take the blame whenever they were being naughty.
Chapter 3
But today, Henry could not blame Christine. Henry needed something from her.
Christine tensed up, apologizing before Henry got a chance to scold anyone. “Mr. Austin, I’m really sorry. The kids were just being naughty, and 1 apologize on their behalf.”
“No worries, they just messed up our lab’s system. As long as they were happy, other things don’t matter, Henry replied nonchalantly.
Christine was utterly confused. This was not how it usually went.
The fact that Henry was not angry made Christine feel like something was definitely off.
“Christine, a patient with a serious condition, needs surgery, but she refuses to let me operate. I can only entrust you with the surgery,” Henry said.
Christine was struck dumb.
Henry, the internationally acclaimed medical maestro, rarely performed surgeries for others. His skills were highly sought after. Christine could not believe that someone would actually refuse to let him operate.
She had to suspect if that person wanted to live.
Milo chimed in, addressing Henry. “Henry, was the patient an old lady named Elizabeth Reeves?”
Henry’s face changed instantly, looking anxious. “How do you know, you little brat?”
“Oh, I overheard it. I never expected you to be a heartbreaker in your younger days,” Milo said teasingly.
Henry’s face turned so red as he quickly covered Milo’s mouth. “Milo, stop talking. How about I give your mom some time off? Seven days, no, three days off?”
“Five days.”
“Deal”
Henry put Milo down, and Christine looked on with a knowing smile. She did not expect that the typically serious and devoted Henry had a romantic past hidden away for forty years.
Henry felt Christine’s prying eyes and could not help but sigh. After hiding his secret for forty years, it seemed that he still could not keep it hidden.
“Christine, can you go and help Elizabeth with her treatment? Just tell me.”
Christine could not contain her excitement and replied, “Of course, I’ll go. I must go, even if it’s facing the toughest challenges.
Although Elizabeth and Henry did not get married, she was once his love, and Christine felt she should help her.
“Where is the patient?” Christine asked.
“In Royalyork, Archiland,” Henry replied.
Now it was Christine’s turn to feel awkward.
Six years ago, when she left, she never thought of going back.
After all, she no longer had a home in Royalyork and had some unpleasant memories there.
“Can you ask someone else to do this surgery, please?” she asked.
“You are the most outstanding among all my students, and I trust only you. Besides, didn’t you just vow to go even if it’s facing the toughest challenges?” Henry said, not caring about being awkward or not.
Milo held Christine’s clothes and said, “Mommy, didn’t you teach us to keep our promises?”
“Fine,” Christine had to reluctantly agree.
Christine now regretted being so nosy earlier. She would not have had to go back to Royalyork if she had not been so
curious.
Five days later, at Royalyork International Airport, as soon as they got off the plane, Milo held his legs and said to Oliver, “Oliver, I need to pee.”
Oliver replied impatiently, “If you need to pee, go to the restroom.”
Milo acted cute and said, “Please, come with me.”
With his chubby little legs clamped tightly together, Milo looked like he could not hold it anymore.
Oliver was speechless and had no choice but to accompany him.
Christine watched Oliver and Milo go to the restroom together and thought their bond was really strong.
Chapter 3
Oliver felt so tired of it. He had to care for Milo because Christine was too busy with work. As a result, Milo clung to him all the time. If Milo were not Christine’s son, he would not have bothered.
As Christine stood in the airport hall waiting for Oliver and Milo, she accidentally bumped into a man behind her.
The man’s phone fell to the ground, and Christine squatted down to pick it up.
“Don’t touch it!” Randall Reeves‘ voice was icy, even colder than a dark river.
