Chapter 22
Chapter 22
Since Oliver had fired the first gun of the war against their scumbag dad, Milo had the itch to keep pace with his elder
brother.
He was desperately eager to drug their scumbag dad.
Oliver saw through Milo’s eagerness and comforted him like a mature man. “Milo, don’t be hasty. We should take our time. and do it step by step.”
“I know what to do. Oliver. We won’t let him get away with that. He should know that being a scumbag dad will not lead to a good end.”
“What good end are you talking about?”
The sudden appearance of Christine scared Oliver and Milo out of their wits. Milo explained in a fluster, “Mommy, Oliver, and I are talking about Ultraman. We were saying that the monsters who did bad things would not lead to a good end.”
“Oliver, is that true? Did you watch Ultraman with your little brother?”
Christine smiled contentedly. Oliver used to prefer watching those boring financial news channels to animated films for children. Now he watched Ultraman with Milo, which was rare but delighted Christine.
Oliver was too mature at such a young age. Christine was worried that Oliver would not have a happy childhood. After hearing them talk about Ultraman, Christine felt somewhat relieved.
“Mommy, I thought Milo would feel bored watching it alone. I’m his big brother, and I should look after him when you’re not around, right?”
Christine heard Oliver and stroked his head softly with satisfaction. She said gladly, “You’re so sweet, honey. Oh, by the way. I have to go to work from tomorrow on. I don’t feel easy if I leave you two at home alone. Henry has arranged a nice kindergarten for you. I’ll send you to the kindergarten tomorrow morning. What do you say?”
Oliver and Milo nodded and said in unison. “Okay, Mommy.”
Milo walked to Christine and said, “Mommy, I made a different soup for you today. I’ll get it for you.”
Milo scampered off into the kitchen. Watching his back, Christine smiled tenderly and was grateful to have such a lovable son. Milo prepared different dishes for her every day, and Christine thought she must have saved the universe in her previous life to have such a son in return.
“Milo, be careful! I’ll help you with it,” yelled Oliver from behind.
Oliver was running away with a guilty conscience of lying to Christine. Yet, Christine watched her sons‘ little figures and smiled lovingly.
She thought, “I have two thoughtful sons.”
At that moment, Christine’s computer suddenly beeped. It was the exclusive tone for Xenon’s message.
Christine sat down by the computer. The relaxed look on her face was gone and was replaced by seriousness.
[The Reeves Group offered a high price to dig out the detailed information of Skyy and Magnate.]
Christine’s brow was knitted tightly as she read the words. She understood why Randall wanted to know who Skyy was.
Oliver hacked Reeves Group’s company system. Having Alaric working for them, who ranked fifth in the global hacker list. the Reeves Group could soon figure out it was Skyy that attacked their system.
It made sense that Randall wanted to get it even with Skyy.
But what confused Christine was the motivation of Randall searching for Magnate.
Christine quickly typed a line of words on the keyboard.
[Why would the Reeves Group want to know Magnate’s information?]
[Boss, I’m on it.]
Worry and confusion overclouded Christine’s eyes. The Erickson Group was searching for Magnate because Oliver had manipulated their stock price, but Randall had nothing to do with the Erickson Group. Why would he want to know who Magnate was?
Christine sneered coldly. She took the glass of water on the desk and wanted to take a sip when she received the reply from
Xenon.
[Magnate won three biddings, which were supposed to belong to the Reeves Group, causing a loss of 360 million dollars for them. Moreover, something is interesting. Every of Magnate’s three tender prices was twenty cents higher than the Reeves Group’s. Magnate has got some nerve. He was picking a fight, you know?]
drinking and choked on the water.
“Ahem! Ahem…
Christine coughed so violently that she almost coughed up her lungs.
She thought, “Dammit! What has Oliver done?”
Winning the three biddings was no big deal, but when the prices were only twenty cents higher? That was no doubt a provocation.
Christine had told Oliver and Milo that Randall was not their father. Why couldn’t they believe it?
Christine held her forehead, pondering what she should do.
Then, she received another message from Xenon.
[The Reeves Group offers 20 million dollars to dig Skyy and Magnate out. Boss, should we take the job?]
That was 20 million dollars! Reeves Group was determined to find out Skyy’s and Magnate’s true identities.
Christine replied to Xenon hastily.
[Sure!]
Xenon, on the other end, was shocked.
They had received plenty of offers to find out who the hackers Skyy and Magnate were, but his Boss never accepted any of
them.
Xenon always felt that his Boss had some relationship with Skyy and Magnate, but he had no idea what kind of relationship
it was.
He did not even know if his Boss was a male or a female behind the screen.
[Boss, you’ve never taken up any offer to find Skyy and Magnate. Why did you agree to accept it now? Do you have a relationship with Skyy and Magnate, or is it because of the Reeves Group?]
Christine’s fingers danced promptly on the keyboard.
[Impressive! You’ve improved your professional ability and investigated me. Is there any offer of finding me out?]
[Boss, you’re the head of Phantom Net, the most mysterious information organization in the world. Of course, there are people curious about your true identity. You’re more valuable than Skyy and Magnate!]
[Are you short of money? I should probably assign more tasks for you.]
Xenon sent her a meme of kneeling and begging for forgiveness.
[Boss, please don’t. I’m sorry! I want you to know that you are worth so much money. I want you to know how priceless you are.]
[Okay. And I want you to have some extra work.]
That was his Boss‘ order, and Xenon could only do as demanded.
Xenon sent Christine a lot of emojis of loudly crying faces. He would never forget not to pry into his Boss‘ privacy again.
But he was so curious about his Boss‘ gender.
“Mommy, here comes your soup.”
Xenon, across the ocean, was thunderstruck.
He wondered if it was a delusion or if he had heard a kid calling his Boss “Mommy.” His Boss was a female, and she was married?!
“Boss”
Xenon gave a tentative call, and his voice was a bombshell to Christine.
She accidentally pressed the Voice Call button when she choked on the water.
Christine turned off the computer immediately and even unplugged the network cable.
Oliver and Milo witnessed her weird action.
Milo asked in perplexity, “Mommy, did you lose your game again?”
Their mother was poor at video games and would get furious and act weirdly if she lost her games.
Oliver said coolly, “Mommy, which server are you at? I’ll carry you! Trust me. You’ll soon be incredible.”
“Oliver, our Mommy is already incredible!”
Christine’s heart once again burst with joy at her son’s praise.
Chapter 22
Christine had wanted to settle accounts with her two sons, but now she forgot to be angry.
Her two sons were clever since they were younger and had their ideas. It was difficult for her to change their minds.
She had explained to them that Randall was not their father. Yet, her sons pretended they believed it but secretly planned to retaliate against their scumbag dad.
It was useless to explain to them verbally. Christine thought she should find an opportunity to take a paternity test for her two sons and Randall.
