The Reckoning of Love ( Sophia Yancey )

The Reckoning of Love Chapter 47

Chapter 47 Overnight Call

A few seconds after Sophia exited the Instagram app, Joseph sent her a text with a single question mark and she ignored him, but he called her right afterward.

I merely blocked the spoiled brat from my social media, but look how anxious he is, Sophia thought and didn’t want to answer his call. Well, I’m going to leave soon, anyway. I should just calm him down now.

Picking up the call, she asked, “Mr. Lynch, would you like to check what time it is now?”

“What’s wrong with your Instagram? Why can’t I view everything?” he questioned.

“I changed the settings.” Sophia lay down, and drowsiness rolled over her again. “Mr. Lyneh, just hang up if there’s nothing important. I’m very sleepy.”

“You’re sleepy, but you stayed awake enough to change your settings?

“Yeah,” Sophia muttered.

Her voice was soft, and it stroked and tickled his heart like the fluffy tail of a cat.

As he licked his lips, she suddenly asked, “How’s Miss Hathaway?”

“Fine,” he answered.

“That’s great. Otherwise, I would have committed a great sin…” Maybe she was too sleepy, she was in a laze and said anything that came into her mind.

Joseph felt his chest tighten, and he frowned as he asked in a deep voice, “What are you talking about? What sin did you commit?”

There was no answer from her, and he listened as her breathing gradually slowed into an even rhythm. Since that day she brought up the breakup, he had been frustrated and nothing seemed to suit his liking. Until yesterday when he held her in his arms and felt her breathing and heartbeat against his, all of his negative emotions slowly dissipated, as though a wanderer had found a place where they belonged.

Listening to her breathing, Joseph couldn’t bring himself to end the call.

The next morning, Sophia woke up to find her phone still engaged in a call. It took her a moment to react. and the first thought that came into her mind was, Thankfully the phone is on charge, or else it would have a flat battery because of this overnight call. Then, the next thought she had was, Joseph has really lost his mind, hasn’t

he?

“Are you awake?” Joseph asked from the other end of the line. Right before she answered, another faint, gentle voice echoed from the phone. Joseph, what would you like for breakfast?”

Sophia stiffened, and before her mind could react, she instinctively hung up the call. Immediately afterward, she placed Joseph’s number under the reject call list in a quick, smooth move without any hesitation.

Wearing a bewildered look, she held her phone and thought, Not only is Joseph a douchebag, but he also has such a disgusting fetish. Last night… while on the line with me, he was with Louise, and… All of a sudden, her stomach churned, and she dashed into the bathroom to puke, but all she experienced was retching.

When she was out, she saw that she had received several WhatsApp messages from Joseph.

‘Did you block my number?

‘Unblock me right now!

Sophia Yancey, you’re getting bolder now!

If she wasn’t concerned about work, she would love to block him entirely from all the chat and social media platforms, but for now, she simply ignored him, changed into her outfit, picked up her laptop bag. and went downstairs.
