The Reckoning of Love ( Sophia Yancey )

The Reckoning of Love Chapter 46

Chapter 46 Those Words Were Meant for Him

Joseph frowned. Then, he climbed to his feet and walked over to Louise.

“It’s fine. I was just feeling thirsty and wanted some water.” Louise sounded rather flustered.

“Lie down. Leave that to me.” He walked over to the water stand and poured a glass of water for her.

Unexpectedly, she stood beside the bed and did not return to bed. Taking the water from him, she hesitated briefly before she steeled her resolve. Joseph, can we talk about Miss Yancey?”

He subconsciously scowled at the question.

She hastily explained, “Just a talk. I don’t mean anything

“What do you want to talk about?” Although he responded, neither his expression nor his tone could not be regarded as friendly.

“When she was injured the other day, I noticed how worried you were about her. You also seemed very restless and uneasy.” She smiled helplessly, seemingly not very bothered by his reaction.

“She is certainly very important to me.” He bluntly admitted to the truth. “Miss Hathaway, I will not stop you from having a relationship with other men in the future. So….

“So, even if you marry me, you have no plans to separate from her?” She finished his sentence for him.

“Yes.” He nodded.

She looked understanding. “You’re quite straightforward.”

He remained silent.

“Alright then.” She nodded. “It’s good to be frank with each other from the beginning. I don’t want to be restricted by our marriage either. We can each go our own ways in the future, but we need to keep up the facade of a loving couple in front of our parents and the media. That won’t be a problem, right?”

“Yeah.” He agreed.

“Let’s get engaged as soon as possible. The faster we finish these matters, the faster we’ll be free again.”

“Okay.

Louise took a gulp of water and lay down on the bed once more.

On the other hand, Joseph was in high spirits. Now that he had discussed these matters with Louise. everything else would be easy to handle.

Sitting down on the couch, he excitedly sent a message to Sophia.

“Come back immediately as soon as you finish your business.”

It was nearly 1:00AM, so he did not expect Sophia to respond to his message immediately.

He clicked on her Instagram again and abruptly discovered that he could only view her Instagram posts over the last three days.

Those Words Were Meant for Him

Therefore, he was extremely confused by the sudden change:

In order to explain what had happened, it was necessary to trace back the events to when Joseph pressed the “like” button on Sophia’s Instagram post.

The night owls of the president’s office had taken full advantage of the president’s recent absence to indulge to their hearts content.

Hence, they went clubbing until late at night.

Just as they were enjoying themselves to the fullest, one of them turned on their Instagram and happened to notice an unread notification. Thus, she clicked on the notification.

When she realized that Joseph had pressed the like button on Sophia’s Instagram post, she immediately turned sober and called Sophia.

Sophia was sleeping at the time, but she answered the call, nevertheless

Before she could speak, the other party shouted in panic. “Miss Yancey! Mr. Lynch pressed the like on one of your Instagram posts! Didn’t you restrict his access to your Instagram?”

Upon hearing those words, she immediately became wide awake.

She ended the call and bolted upright in bed. Then, she hastily adjusted the privacy settings of her Instagram so that only her posts from the last three days were visible to the public.

A short while later, she received a message from Joseph asking when she would be back from her trip.

Staring at the message, she clicked on her own Instagram and scrolled down to one of her previous posts -it was the post with nine pictures.

The dark night was probably the reason why some of the deeply hidden emotions could no longer be suppressed. Through the memories of the past, these emotions surged turbulently in the dark.

That was the day her grandmother had been cremated.

On that day, the overwhelming sense of helplessness and fear of the future had practically drowned her entire being.

Like a drowning man, she had been desperate to clutch at something to keep herself afloat.

Hence, she posted those pictures on Instagram. It was a post that was only visible to Joseph alone.

This incident was the only time she ever overstepped her boundaries throughout the five years she spent beside Joseph

She had waited all day and all night-until the moment her grandmother’s ashes were buried in the ground.

Fortunately, she had waited in vain.

It was from that moment onward that she no longer entertained any of her delusions. In fact, she had never been more clear headed in her life

Nevertheless, she did not expect Joseph to scroll through her Instagram feed in the middle of the night after more than half a year had passed

Those Words Were Meant for Him

He probably saw this post too… right? Too bad… He will never know that the caption Tmiss you’ was actually meant for him.
