The Rebellious Omega

Chapter 174

King Braedon POV

I moved towards her and pulled her into me, letting her put her head on my shoulder, while Alpha Johnathon looked on helplessly. "How do I know this isn't a trap of some sort?" I asked him. "Use your Alpha tone on me," he said wearily "As the Alpha King, even I must obey it, Alpha or not."

"Are you lying to us" I boomed, pushing my aura out and watching him willingly submit, baring his neck to me in respect. He gave one single answer "No."

I relaxed. Blair eyed me. "What do we do now? Do we still save those in the Lunar Sky Pack or do we take down the Dark Rising Pack?" she whispered.

"I guess we change our plans," I told her grimly, "there's no use going to the Lunar Sky Pack if we know where they are going to end up," I said honestly.

She nodded in agreement. James looked thoughtful. "How many warriors does your pack currently have?" he asked Alpha Johnathon.

"At least two hundred, but Ashton hasn't been making them train, so they're probably going to be easy to overpower" he admitted.

"Haven't been making them train" Blair snorted "What a useless wanker. I'm glad I rejected him" she muttered "What kind of Alpha doesn't make his warriors train?" she said exasperated "what a goddamn moron."

Even I had to agree with that. Any Alpha worth his salt would ensure his warriors trained consistently to keep themselves battle-ready. Not only did you keep yourself prepared for war, but for the inevitable fight against any rogues that tried to take over your territory. It appeared Ashton didn't feel concerned about any of that. He was leaving his pack vulnerable to attack. I was stunned at his stupidity and laziness.

"It might appear stupid, but it does give us an advantage" James pointed out, looking smug "I'm willing to bet that patrol is as lackluster as the training."

"Let's just say it was relatively easy to get past them on the way to escaping," Alpha Johnathon said sheepishly "I'm ashamed of how painfully poor they have become at keeping themselves well-trained. It's going to take a lot to get the pack back up to scratch" he added resignedly. I glanced at James "I want Malcolm and our best warriors but don't keep this pack vulnerable either" I reminded him "Start getting numbers ready. I don't think we need a full-on army. I think this is going to call for stealth. Do you know where the cottages are that they are keeping the women?" I turned back to Alpha Johnathon.

"All I know is that it's on the outskirts of the pack so that the other pack members don't see. But they have to be suspicious, we have so few omegas now. Plus they are constantly building new cottages, so it can't just be a small compound they've made" Alpha John pointed out with gritted teeth "I do know they haven't stinged on security for that though. So that's going to be the most difficult to overcome."

"How many pack members guard it?" Blair asked blithely.

"No idea, they seem to have a mixture of security from various packs. At least from what I've overheard" Alpha John said nonchalantly. He bowed his head again and then looked up at Blair, his eyes shining "Blair, I know that I have been anything but kind to you, but perhaps, when this is over, you might consider, us maybe getting to know each other, a little better" he said with a twinge of hope.

I inwardly cringed. The poor man had no notion of the magnitude of what he was asking. Blair was hardly about to forgive the years of cruelty she had suffered at his hands. I half expected to hear her screaming at him, or for a loud no to rumble from her chest, but to my shock, she was staring at her father with what could only be described as a wistful expression on her face. My chest tightened. For so long, she had been without family, without the love of a parent, and now, here was one, offering to forge a relationship with her. Was I wrong? Was Blair finally going to be able to slowly let go of the past and embrace the future?

Blair's lips opened and closed. She seemed to be struggling. Alpha's John's eyes slowly dimmed and then the light faded from them. Even I felt a pang at how dismal he looked.

"It's okay, I understand" he murmured hoarsely "After everything I did to you..." he trailed off as Blair interrupted him. "When this is over, then yes, we can get to know each other. I can't say that I will forgive you because it's not that easy" she growled as Alpha John's eyes widened and began to brighten again "But I do know that I want to try, not just for my sake, but for the sake of any children I may have eventually" she said, not letting slip that she was already pregnant.

"That is more than I could hope for," Alpha Johnathon said with eagerness, while I cleared my throat.

"James" I instructed "take Alpha Johnathon up to a guest room to get cleaned up and make sure he's guarded. Blair" I said turning to her as Alpha Johnathon agreeably got up and began to follow James.

"I want to go with you and James tomorrow" she blurted out, as I stared at her, my heart racing and my instinct to tell her no screaming in my head "I want to help. I can't just stay here, Braedon, while you and James fight. It's not right. I want to help the women and set them free. Don't make me stay behind" she pleaded, her eyes shining "let me help, and let me act like the Luna Queen."

"You're pregnant" I whispered hoarsely.

"Pregnant or not, my wolf and I want to fight," she said, staring at me with determination "These are our people being forced into illegal activity and I won't stay out of the way, while they are being trafficked unjustly. You made me Luna Queen, you can hardly expect me to care only about myself when our people need us."
