The Rebellious Omega

Chapter 170

King Braedon POV

"I think it's more than that" James argued "I think it's important."

Sarah bit her lip. Blair looked thoughtful. "Can I see the paper please Braedon? I'll be careful with it" she added, looking a little weary.

I hesitated. She pleaded with her eyes. I shrugged. It couldn't hurt to have Blair take a second look at it. Maybe she could decipher the puzzling code. I gently handed her the paper and she smoothed it out, frowning as she glanced down at it. Her lips moved as she began to mutter to herself.

Blair's eyes widened. "I, I think I might have it, but I could be wrong," she said biting her lip.

"Well, what is it?" I asked eagerly.

She pointed at the 14 and the O. "I think this might mean 14 Omegas" she explained as I looked at it more closely. Now that she said it, it seemed so obvious. James looked annoyed with himself and Sierra looked impressed. Josie was quiet, listening closely. "If that's 14 Omegas," I said slowly and then pointed to the other number "then that 2 must be..."

"2 Rogues" Blair finished triumphantly, waving the paper at me "This must have to do with the trafficking. There must be a supply of women either being delivered or picked up, from the Lunar Sky Pack at midnight on the night of the full moon" she concluded. "Yes," I snarled.

This was it. This was what we had been waiting for. Some clues to bring down this trafficking ring. Stella had been privy to some of the information, which meant that it had to have come from her pack. Blair was coming to the same conclusion, her body shaking. "If this information came from Stella's and your old pack," I said tightly, as Blair's lips tightened and James nodded in agreement "that can only mean that Luna Bianca and Alpha Johnathon are behind all of this."

"Or" interjected James "they are supplying the women to the traffickers which could be another pack. They could simply be part of the chain," he said "It's all a possibility."

"So not only are my parents horrible shifters and cruel, they might be traffickers as well," Blair said heavily "I think I liked it better when I didn't know I was blood-related to them" she whispered.

"Oh honey, blood means nothing" Sierra winked at her "We're your family now. Although, I'm the favorite sister" she added quickly, causing Blair to let out a huff of laughter "Remember that when you're naming your unborn child."

I turned to James "We need to make a plan. The Lunar Sky Pack is at least half a day's travel in wolf form from here, from memory. I want our best warriors coming with us and I want guards on Blair. Ones I can trust."

"Hey," Blair complained, "I'm not completely useless."

"I'm not taking chances with your safety," I told her tersely "so you're going to have to indulge me this time sweetheart." She looked mutinous. Josie gave her a sympathetic smile. "Blair, it's better if you stay. Braedon will be fine" she assured her.

Blair deflated. "If they're taking women from the pack, they'll be doing it under the cover of the forest or on the outskirts of the pack" I instructed James "We need to surround the perimeter of the pack and be on the lookout for a large truck, like the one that was escorting Blair before."

He nodded. Sarah looked concerned "James," she said softly "what if this is a trap?"

"Then we'll plan for it" he reassured her, taking her hand and squeezing it "We'll explore every possibility of what could go wrong and take the initiative to plan for it. We won't take unnecessary risks," he told her, cupping her chin and staring into her eyes while the rest of us watched, Josie and Sierra looking wistful.

"I just want you to be safe" she breathed.

"I want the same for you. Stay with Blair and remain under guard" he said quietly and then kissed her passionately on the lips, causing me to look away, while Sierra fanned her face and Josie blushed bright red. "We're not going to war" I grumbled.

James pointedly ignored me. So did Sarah. Her cheeks were flushed a becoming pink as she kissed my Beta with a passion that shocked me, before pulling away, looking breathless. I turned and walked to Blair, giving her a kiss on the temple, before she grabbed me by the chin and pulled me down, kissing me longingly as I reciprocated in kind, only pulling back when James pointedly cleared his throat. "Sorry, your kiss kind of got me a little ahem heated," Blair said awkwardly.

I grinned unrelentingly. Josie and Sierra sighed. "It's not fair" Sierra murmured and Josie nodded. "Is it too much to ask for a hot-smoking man to kiss me like that?"

"Wolfsbane" Blair said suddenly and we all turned "Be prepared for Wolfsbane" she repeated "and silver. They have to be able to keep the women in line somehow and prevent them from shifting. Sixteen women seem like a lot to handle at once, and last time there weren't too many men to keep guard, with none of them staying in the trailer part."

"We go to your old pack after we've been to the Lunar Sky Pack. We can't risk the women being taken elsewhere or the pack getting wind that something's gone wrong" I growled and Blair nodded, not surprised by my statement. I waved at James who looked reluctantly at Sarah "Let us go to the study and begin our preparations. I don't want us to miss a single step or a single scenario where something could go wrong. I won't leave this pack vulnerable either while we're gone" I told my Beta "and we have three days until we need to leave, so let's make the most of them."

I looked apologetically at my mate but she waved a dismissive hand at me, Josie and Sierra already beginning to crowd around her. I spoke to the doctor on the way out "if there's any change..."

"I'll inform you straight away King Braedon."

I left without another word.
