The Rebellious Omega

Chapter 162

Braedon POV

"I don't know" she admitted "I don't even know who she visits in the pack house."

"Well somebody had to summon her here," I said with exasperation.

Josie looked at me as though I was an i***t and then paused, biting her lip. "I don't like to make assumptions King Braedon," she said in a harsh whisper "but how well do you really know Julia?" "I've known her for years" I protested.

Josie raised an eyebrow "Do you know that she watches you when you're not looking? That she finds any excuse to be close to you? That she glares at Blair whenever she thinks nobody is watching her?"

I shook my head in denial, even as my gut started churning. Josie gave a bitter laugh "Then think about this King Braedon" she said with some confidence in her voice "The only ones who have the authority to summon anybody to the pack or make an invitation to another pack member are yourself, the beta and..." she trailed off.

"Julia and Blair or a family member" I supplied, with a low growl.

"We both know it wasn't me and Stella has no other family members here" Josie continued "Blair doesn't know who she is, so that leaves her out and I doubt James invited her, which only leaves you and Julia." "What purpose would Julia have inviting Stella?" I asked perplexed.

"Maybe you should ask her because clearly she knows Stella and she's not being honest with you about everything. Stella takes orders and she'll do anything for money, who is to say that Julia's not the same? How far do you think Julia is willing to go, to get what she's after?" James came walking in. "I heard everything," he said grimly as Josie merely nodded to him, not surprised to see him there "and I agree with Josie. Stellas's been spotted in the northeast quadrant attempting to flee and patrol has already secured her" he informed me "she's refusing to speak though."

"Not surprising when she knows that the punishment for harming a Luna queen is automatic execution," I said nonchalantly "Have her put in the dungeon and secured with silver. I want answers. I want to know her connection to Julia and why she was sent here. Something is off about all this. I don't think this is all just Julia's doing. There's more to the puzzle."

James nodded and I saw his eyes go cloudy as he mind-linked the patrol, informing them of my orders. I exhaled.

His eyes returned to normal. "When's the last time anybody laid eyes on Julia?" I asked and everybody glanced at each other.

"I don't even remember her being in the pack house when we left," James said with a thoughtful expression "and I just mind-linked Sarah and nobody has seen her."

"Well she hasn't been in this part of the forest" objected Josie, I've been out here walking for the better part of an hour before I stumbled on you, supposedly drunk" she drawled, rolling her eyes.

"I guess now I know the arguing between you and Blair was false" she added with a growl.

I shrugged unapologetically. "Patrol hasn't spotted her either so she hasn't left the grounds" I snarled "She has to be here somewhere."

I attempted to mind-link Blair but the connection between us was gone. I sensed something had to be amiss. She knew not to put a block up, not while we were out hunting Josie and Stella. I put a hand to my head and looked at James with a sense of foreboding.

"She's in the pack house" I growled, shifting to my wolf form, my clothes tearing to shreds as I hit the ground with a thud, my paws automatically beginning to race forwards, James doing the same, while Josie changed into her smaller wolf. Damnit, we left our mate in danger by assuming the culprit was Josie.

We also told her to keep safe and stay in her room. I don't understand how Julia was able to get past everyone without being seen.

She's spent years in the pack house Braedon. She knows the ins and outs of it like the back of her hand. There must be all sorts of passageways and hidden corridors we don't know about. Your father was paranoid about being able to hide during an attack remember? He put all sorts of hidden things in the pack house in case he needed to make a quick escape, coward that he was.

s**t. I had forgotten all about that. I thought I had found all of them and had them closed over.

There must be one that was missed or maybe she was just able to sneak past undetected because she blends in with the staff so easily.

Run faster, Lucian. I have a feeling that Blair is in deep trouble, Alpha Wolf or not. If Julia is obsessed with me as everyone seems to believe then...

She won't be keeping Blair alive, because, in her mind, Blair is the obstacle that is preventing you from being with her. I know Braedon, I'm running as fast as I can. All we can do is pray that Blair manages to fight her until we can get there. Our mate is strong. She won't go down without a fight.

We reached the grounds and skidded to a stop in front of the pack house. I shifted back to human form and lunged for the door, sending it slamming open. I was racing for the stairs, taking them two at a time in my panic, James behind me, when I heard screaming coming directly from the bedroom that I shared with Blair. My heart dropped and my panic grew as I lunged forward, a growl in my throat, seizing the door and ripping it open, to find that Blair was crouching over Julia who had a knife plunged deep into her stomach, Blair holding Julia's neck with her other hand, her eyes flashing between dark and her normal color, her hand shaking violently. Sarah was knocked out cold on the floor and James rushed to her side, while Julia whimpered, her eyes darting to me as she begged silently for my help.

"b***h" Blair snarled, "you dare try to harm me and my unborn child?"

I watched as she pulled the knife free and right in front of my eyes, slammed it into Julia's hand, pinning her to the floor and letting go of her throat as Julia screamed out loud, the silver dagger causing her flesh to bubble and burn, her hand wildly trying to grasp the dagger, only to pull away in pain.
