The Point of Fate

Chapter Chapter Sixteen

I hear a ringing and then a blast. I can hear shouts and explosions but I cant open my eyes yet. I smell something burning and I smell rain. I feel someones arms around me. I’m being carried. Finally I open my eyes and see a dark, ash filled sky. Nate is the one carrying me. I can see things on fire and people running around. I hear a siren and then another explosion takes up my vision. Nate and I fly through the air and land hard on the ground. I roll and hit a tree. I ignore the pain and get back up. I feel dizzy and there is a loud ring in my ears from the explosion. I stop after I get up because I don’t see Nate. Then I realize something else...I’m wearing an old dress. Like castle and king’s old. I can see someone running towards me and they don’t seem like a threat so I wait.

“Cordelia, thank the heavens you’re alright.” The man said.

He had brown hair that was tangled and was as short as his shoulders. His skin was covered in dirt and blood, making his emerald green eyes stand out. He wore armor and held a sword.

“Yes, someone pulled me away form the castle.” I said, but they were not my words.

Suddenly I wasn’t me anymore. I was standing between the woman who looked like me and the man who knew me. They hugged and then pulled apart when a roar filled the air.

“We must get you somewhere safe. Those leeches won’t stop because of fire.” The man said.

“What about Daniel?” Cordelia asked

“He is with the other company, we must hurry, they’re coming.” He said grabbing her hand.

They ran off, but I couldn’t move. Suddenly dark people jumped over the flames and stopped. One jumped farther and sniffed the air. He turned to where the light hit his features. I gasped. It was Jared.

“They can’t have gotten far. Bring her to me, but kill the man.” He paused and stared right at me. “Hurry, leave now!”

All the other vampires ran and jumping into the forrest. Screams rang out and roars echoed into the night. Jared walked over to the flames and stared deep into them. A mosterous face appeared in the flames.

“Do you have her?” It asked in a deep rough voice.

“Almost. And when I do, I will kill her and then I will live forever.” Jared said bowing his head.

“Drain her of her blood and burn her body. When the princess’s spirit leaves to unite with the moon, then you use your shadow abilities and absorb her power. Then you will live forever. But I must warn you, if you do not succeed, you will have to wait a thousand years until you get the opportunity again.”

“I understand master.”

“They are coming, prepare yourself.”

The face disappeared and two vampires dragged a crying Cordelia in front of Jared.

“You monster.” She spat. “I will never love you, even if we are mates!”

“I don’t need your love, you little bitch, I just need your blood.” He said and picked her up by her throat.

He bit into her and she screamed. She tried to get free but it was useless. Soon she stopped struggling and Jared dropped her dead body to the ground. Tears poured down my cheeks as they threw her body into the fire. As her body burned, her spirit started to rise. Black smoke poured from Jared’s hand and began to pull at her spirit, but it couldn’t.

“What is happening?” Jared asked looking confused. “Why isn’t this working?!”

“Because, I thought ahead of you and made a spell to protect my spirit from you.” She said. “And the other half of the spell, is your curse.”

“A curse? No curse can stop me, I will always win.” He said smirking. “I will kill everyone you ever knew-”

“That’ll be hard to accomplish when you’re locked inside a box, and twelve feet under.” She hissed.

A few vamps, who looked like they were under a spell, dropped a coffin next to Jared. Then roots from the trees pushed him inside and the lid was put on. The roots wound around it and began to pull it underground.

“No! You can’t do this to me!” Jared yelled from inside the box.

The rest of his screams faded, when the ground swallowed him. Then I realised that the other vamps were now gone and Cordelia was in front of me.

“You do not have much time. The Jared you know isn’t who he seems to be. Don’t let him know that you know. If he finds out, he will kill you as soon as possible. Nate is your true mate, but be careful, he has a poisoned heart.” She warned.

She disappeared without a trace and I just stood there. Suddenly the ground broke open and a hand grabbed the ground. After a minute, Jared pulled himself out. He looked lost and out of place. I heard voices and saw Jared attack two hikers. He killed one for blood and then tied the other up. She cried and cried. He slapped her and she stopped crying.

“Answer my questions and I’ll let you live.” He said. “Do you understand?”

She nodded.

“Good, what year is it?”

She answered. It was three years ago. He asked her a few more questions and then killed her. Then he made a fire and the face appeared again.

“You failed.”

“You didn’t warn me of her spell.”

“You should have looked for it.”

“The past, is past. Where is she? The new princess.” He asked.

“She is not far from here. But first there are things you must do before you make yourself known to her.”

Then the face told him of who I was and who my future mates were and how to get what he needed this time without failing.

“Instead of hurting and hunting her, you must love her and let her love you. You have Cordelia’s strength and with Louie’s power, you can trick her into letting you control her.”

“I will not fail this time.”

I watched him poison Nate and turning him into a blood lusting monster and about changing Damon into being basically an ass. Then I watched him watch me from a distance. He was at the lake that night that I found out that Damon and Nate were my mates. He swam right next to me and I had no idea. The picture changes and I’m in the cave. Jared walks in with the other me in tow. As he kisses the memory, he stares right at me. His eyes pierce into my soul. His fangs extend and he bites into her. I scream and jolt awake.

“Whoa, whoa, Lou, are you okay? What’s wrong?” Nate asks sitting up and rubbing my shoulders.

“N-nothing, just a n-nightmare.” I shudder.

“Will you be alright?”

“Yeah...I’ll be fine.” I say and lay back down.

Nate looks unsure but accepts my lie anyways. He wraps his arms around me and falls asleep. I stare into space thinking about the horror I just saw in my sleep. I needed to be careful or Jared will be unstoppable.
