Chapter 98 - Make Your Pick
"Don't come any closer or I drain your blood!"
It was the chief of Zaxson village whom Bonnie turned into his worst nightmare. Becoming a vampire is the last thing on his mind but Bonnie changed everything when she bit him.
In order to complete the transition into a vampire, the person must then consume a significant amount of human blood, at least a sip's worth, within the next twenty-four hours, or else they will die. Let's just say the chief has been busy all these while drinking the blood of his victims. He can't resist the blood lust nor does he want to die.
John glared at him and then opens his mouth to speak. "What makes you think you can kill me?"
"You may think you are a god but there are other ways I can break you."
The chief's tunic was stained in blood. John can see that but he never knew that someone like the chief will embrace his new fate. He thought he would have ended his life rather than allowing his full transition into being a vampire. "You think you can break me? You must be out of your mind or something."
"That's right, I am out of my mind and for that, you will never see her again."
On hearing this, John was enraged. At this time, he knew the chief has something to do with the disappearance of Bonnie. "Where is she!" roared John with evil in his eyes. He looks blood-thirsty. The chief just triggered something in him anyone may not want to see or experience.
John grabbed the chief and held him against the wooden wall of the cabin. He then stared into his eyes with pure evil in his eyes. "Where is she? I won't ask again."
"You will never see her ever..."
Before the chief can finish what he has to say, John drove his words back with a heavy punch on his face. John never stopped as he landed more punches on the chief's face. He punched him the more that blue flames covered his entire hand releasing a punch of fire at the chief.
After landing several punches at the chief, John held him firmly against the wooden wall, and again he stared deep into the chief's eyes. "Where is she?" Spitting out blood, the chief laughed displaying his fangs. "Vampires like her are welcome to snooze and for eternity, she will enjoy her night's rest." John couldn't make any sense of what the chief just said. He glared at the chief and said to him, "Speak what I will understand or it's gonna be your ass." The chief chuckles and then opened up to speak again. "I have put her to sleep where you will never find her."
On hearing this, John's anger burned mightily against the chief. He lifted him off the ground. "You killed her or you put her to sleep which one?"
Most vampires can be put to sleep if they are pinned with a wooden stake and locked up. Some of them may decide not to consume blood, they simply go into a deep sleep, coma-like state while their bodies mummify until someone feeds them again with blood. Could this be the fate of Bonnie? John won't let that happen. If she's asleep and hidden, he's ready to burn the world to find her. And if she's really dead, what's he gonna do?"
"If you kill me, you will never find out," the chief giggled.
John tossed the chief to the wooden spandrel of the log house and then stretched out his hand for his wand. As he was about approaching the chief who was lying beside the spandrel, it occurred to him that the sun has been out for quite some time. And then another thought came to him.
...Outside the Warlocks' Castle...
Ares seeing that the invasion with the ladder isn't working ordered his fellow fighting gods to bring in the siege tower. "Perhaps this will do," he said pointing at the siege tower.

Siege towers would allow the attackers to get near a wall or tower and possibly scale it or, at least damage it. Built of wood and assembled on-site, they had their own wheels so that they could be positioned against a wall using manpower or oxen. Siege towers were among the most effective and extensively used siege weapons. These towers, unlike most other siege weapons such as catapults, were mostly made on the site of the siege and could be constructed into various sizes. The siege tower was moved on wheels and could house soldiers of various types.
"Climb that castle and burn the warlocks!" roared Ares with his sword pointed towards the castle as the gods move towards the castle with the siege tower.
A siege tower or breaching tower is a specialized siege engine, constructed to protect assailants and ladders while approaching the defensive walls of a fortification. The gods for eons have been in the sky and after man was created, they have observed the ways of life of man and their pattern of war. It's certain that Ares has mastered every pattern of war mortals use to invade their enemies. That same pattern, he believes will help them breach the walls of the warlocks' castle. ...Warlock's Castle...
Ozenzo was observing every move Ares took. He was at the merlon observing closely. Seeing the gods pushing the siege towards the castle, one of the warlocks with a crossbow broke the silence. "What shall we do my lord?" Ozenzo glances at the warlock and replied with a soft tone, "Leave that to me."
He quickly made his way to the round towers of the castle. From there, one can have a clear view of what's happening on the other side. He climbed the top edge of the watchtower and positioned himself as one who was about conjuring. "Let's end this now!" he said putting up a fake smile.
