The Palace Beast

Chapter 70 - The Gathering

They both stared at the troll standing afar. "What is he doing here?" Bonnie asked as he glances at the king.

None of them have seen such a creature in their life. This is because the kings before King Afa dedicated their reign to fighting such creatures and sorcery. Although they have heard stories of creatures like. "Be at peace sister, he is with us." King Afa glances at Bonnie.

"My princess, I heard you visited the warlocks. The news is everywhere in the land of Yizi."

Walking up to Festus, the princess asked, "You are the guards taken by the warlocks?"

"I am." He replied with a soft smile.

"It's good to have you back and well with us again."

"Thank you, my princess. But I am still scared of what the queen will do to me for leaving Drew to the angry villagers."

"You have nothing to worry about. She will not be able to do anything to you?" King Afa assured Festus and then asked him to go and be with his wife.

Since the return of King Afa, he has locked up his mother and Drew since Princess is resisting him from executing their mother. Not that he has any power to but he never fails to listen to his sister's opinion even though he's king. ...Isis Palace...

Four of the gods gathered before Isis to seek answers to what's happening. For the past few hours Set has been causing chaos in the entire land of Egypt and Horus has not done anything as the king of the gods.

They feared Horus and that's why they have come to meet with his mother Isis. They believe she alone can speak to her son to do something about his uncle, Set.

In attendance were Amun, Hathor, Bastet, and Thoth. They all stood before Isis who was seated before them as Amun broke the silence. "Haven't you heard the chaos Set is causing in the land of Egypt nor are we the only one that shows concern? It's time you speak to him to do something."

Isis rises to her feet, she glances at them all. "It has never been heard that the gods will tell the king of the gods on how to discipline his subject. I'm not in the position to tell my son, our lord on what to do with Set. He is wise and will dish out Set's punishment at the right time. We should protect our worshipers from Set and not trying to look for a way to blame Horus."

Amun was not pleased with Isis' response as he opens up to speak. "We have not come here to seek counsel from you but to help us talk to Horus to quicken his actions against Set, lest entire Egypt will burn to the ground."

The rest of the gods with Amun supported him as they all look intently at Isis in expectation of a change of heart to her first answer. But she opened up again to speak but this time in a calm way. "I am sorry if my response has not pleased anyone of you. But it will be in our best interest we protect our worshippers. Set can't be so powerful than us all."

"We are trying to do this in an orderly manner but since you can't talk to Horus to act now, we have no option than to kill Set," Thoth spoke up.

Isis fixed her eyes on Thoth and spoke in a harsh tone. "Killing Set will not bring the solution to this but will incur justice of Horus upon you."

"The only injustice we seek now is to discipline Set. He has brought much chaos to Egypt within hours. And if this is not done, we will take the law into our hands and face the consequences." Amun replied glaring at Isis.

The argument was hitting up as Hathor and Bastet kept calm, leaving Amun and Thoth to do the talking. However, Isis was already fed up with the argument as she turned to leave.

She caught a glimpse of Set standing beside the tall curtain that demarcates her palace and inner court. "What are you doing here?" she yelled.

The rest of the gods turned to see who she was talking with only to see Set approaching them with fake smiles on his face. "I have stood here for a while and have heard all you filthy beings have said about me."

As Isis took her stance for a fight, the rest of the gods, Amun, Thoth, Bastet, and Hathor positioned too for a fight.

"Come on, you think you all are a match with me? Of course not!" Set snapped his fingers and immediately his canine-looking creatures walked out from the walk of Isis' palace. They were ten in numbers. "Eleven against five. Do the math Thoth; you are the wise one amongst us all."

The canine-looking creatures seized Isis, Amun, Thoth, Bastet, and Hathor. Set approaches Bastet. With his eyes fixed on her she giggles and then whispered into her ears. "Tell Horus I said hi." He then kicked Bastet so hard in the lower abdomen.
