Chapter 69 - Back with a Troll
Eux stared down at Gerald and quickly interrupted him from speaking further. "My name is Eux and I am not just 'this.' It will be kind of you to let us see the princess. It's urgent and the information we have is delegated and will save your kingdom." "I wasn't talking to you Eux or whatever your name is. Your kind is not welcomed in Maxis."
"That will be sad and if he is not welcomed here, what will happen when I also walk away with him with the information we have?" Festus glared at Gerald.
"I will take you to the king instead," Gerald replied.
Festus stared with a surprised look and then opened up to ask. "The king? The last time I was on duty, I heard the king was dead."
"The king is fine and well. If you don't want to see the king, then get ready to embrace one another in the dungeon."
At the Throne Hall King Afa was seated right at his throne when Gerald leads Festus and Eux to the king. On seeing Eux, the king rose in anger. "You brought a troll before your king? General, I should have you throw in the dungeon. What do you say to yourself?"
Hastily Gerald bent one knee before the king and pleaded. "Forgive me, my king. They have news that will be of great interest to you."
"I will make an exception. You may rise!"
King Afa boldly walks down to where Eux was standing with Festus as he glances at them both.
"My king," Festus said as he slightly bows his head.
"I know you? You are one of the guards. What are you doing with a troll?"
"My king, I was taken by the warlocks after your mother forced me and a few of the guards to watch over Drew."
Gerald clears his throat and quickly cuts in. "This is correct, my king. He is the guard the princess told you about that have not been found. He's newly married but your mother forced her into service. She went against the law of the land." Gazing at Festus the king asked expressing curiosity. "How did you escape the warlocks?"
Festus gave a sigh of relief and open up his mouth to speak. "After a warlock named, Kalth condemned Eux and I to death. He set the stake I was tied to on fire in the name of a warlock lord known as Gux. As my feet were burning a man walked in. One could tell he is not a human because he has fangs and red eyes. He ordered Kalth to release us to him and then handed him a parchment. Basically, he bought us off from the hands of the warlocks and took us to his arena to fight werewolves and other beasts. We managed to escape after weeks of staying there."
"Does this vampire that bought you have a name?" the king enquired expressing curiosity.
"His name is Ambrogio." Eux cuts in.
Festus was able to convince Eux to use his skills to get them out of Ambrogio's dungeon since the day he discovered Eux has the skill of becoming invisible. Eux was scared of doing what Festus wants. But after much persuasion, he obliged and escaped with Festus.
"My king, Ambrogio is gathering an army of different kinds of creatures to wage wall not only on Maxis but to the entire four kingdoms that surrounds us."
Festus was able to gather much information from Ambrogio. He was made the special cleaner of Ambrogio's chamber and any time he goes there to clean, Ambrogio might be discussing with someone about his plans. He often leans on the wall and pays close attention to listening to Ambrogio's conversation.
"Why does this vampire wants to make war on the five kingdoms? Any idea?"
"My king, Ambrogio wants to get his trapped soul in the underworld to reunite with his love. And for him to do this, he must kill thousands upon thousands of souls and send them to the underworld. In exchange for this, Hades will be pleased to release his soul to him."
"This is insane. A demon prince is after my sister. A god called Set, after us and now a vampire is raising an army against us. What has Maxis done wrong?" the king cried out.
"My king, if I may speak?" said Gerald as he walks close to the king.
"You are free to speak, Gerald." The king replied with his eyes fixed on Gerald.
"We should alert the other kingdoms and team up with them to resist this planned attack on the kingdoms. It is clear that they are not coming for us alone but also to the entire five kingdoms. It's time we put our differences aside and resist these monsters like our forefathers did in the past.”
"You have spoken wisely General. Send word across the kingdoms and alert them. Let them know Maxis is calling for a truce and treaty. We need to oppose these creatures of the dark and put them where they belong for good."

"My king, what about my companion and I?" Festus turned to face the king with his head slightly bowed.
"Your companion can stay with you if he swears allegiance to be on Maxis' side."
Hastily Eux walked up to the king and bend a knee. "I swear to be on Maxis' side."
"You may rise," said the king. Turning to face Festus the king asked. "We can trust his words, yes?"
"Yes, my king. His words won't fail." Festus replied as he lightly lowered his head as an act of reverence to the king.
"Very well then. I will inform Adrian to get a place ready for our friend here."
The princess and Eva make their way into the throne hall and as they saw the king standing with a troll, they screamed in a horrifying voice.
