Chapter 113 - First Hit
Seeing its target was drawing back, the creature locked unto its target, with inhuman speed, enough to move from one place to another in seconds. The creature charged towards John.
"Fuck the hell!" John exclaimed again and jumped out from harm's way forcing the creature to crash on the ground.
The creature picked up from where it has fallen, with gnashing of his fangs, he locked unto its target again. This time, the creature moved faster than it moved at first. As the creature was about to ram John over, Bonnie moved faster than the eye could see and pushed John away from harm's way. The creature crashed again to the ground.
"What are you doing? You would have been rammed over."
"What the hell is that creature?"
"It's a wendigo and we have to leave now!"
"What in the hell is a wendigo?"
"A windigo is a supernatural being belonging to the spiritual traditions of Neena's clan."
Wendigos are exceptionally strong, even by monster terms, and grow incredibly stronger as the full moon approaches. They can tear humans apart limb from limb without effort, snap necks and carry two people at once and even drag them up a tree with ease. Wendigos have powers along with superior strength and durability.
What Bonnie just said didn't make any sense to John. He cast a searing gaze at her. "I still don't get it."
Bonnie saw the wendigo stands to its feet; she moved closer to John and held him by the hand. "It's not safe here for us now. We need to get to safety. Forget about the horses, do the magic."
"I only have a place in mind."
John snapped his fingers and then disappeared with Bonnie. They both appeared in Bonnie's cabin, the very first place Bonnie brought him after saving him from Cerberus.
Bonnie glances at him with curiosity. "Why here?"
"This is the first place I met the lady that fell in love with me. Perhaps it will help me let go of my anger and think of a way of making a deal with Neena."
From what Bonnie said about wendigo coming from Neena's clan, he knew that Neena must have sent the creature to hunt him. He has no idea about such a creature but when he saw the creature, he felt the creature's power. He knew the creature must have not come without wanting to put up a fight with him.
As they both walk into the cabin, John fired a couple of questions that has been bothering him about the wendigo. "Are will safe now from the creature? Does it mean that creature came from Neena? She has taken her first shot in wanting to kill me, yes?"
"My love, I do not know much about wendigo but whenever wendigo is sent to hunt a witch or wizard, Gypsies and Shamans will always place their powers in the wendigo. And at the full moon, the full powers placed in the creature will manifest. The creature will be stronger and faster."
"Gypsies and Shamans, who are there?"
"They are the children of Neena. They came from her line."
"What the hell are you talking about?"

John can't imagine an ancient witch that has brought forth children lusting after him. If she has people from her line, that makes her ancient. How can a young blooded man like John allow an ancient witch to have a taste of him sexually? This has brought concern to John learning for the first time about Gypsies and Shamans who are from Neena's line and what they can do to please Neena.
"Neena is the first witch. She is well as the brother of the lines of witches, warlocks, wizards, sorcerers, shamans, and gypsies. So I believe that the wendigo is acting on the Gypsies and Shamans order who also are following the orders of Neena." "That's bullshit." "What?"
Bonnie can't make sense of the phrase 'bullshit.' Seems like John has forgotten he's Strange Land and should always avoid using certain phrases if what he's saying will be understood. Although Bonnie has learned some phrases from him and understands some but the phrase 'bullshit' is new to her.
"Oh, my bad! But whether they are following Neena's order or not, it's all nonsense to me and this gives me more reasons to get back at Neena and spear her to the rock with Eris' spear and see if that kills her."
"If you can disappear at will, why not disappear back to your world?"
"I have tried that severally and it didn't work. I wonder why?"
"Neena knows why."
"Can this wendigo be killed?"
"To kill a wendigo, you have to freeze its heart and then pierce the heart with a silver blade or stake carved from an oak tree."
A wounded wendigo simply regenerates. The trick is to employ silver bullets, or a pure silver blade or stake, and strike right through the wendigo's ice-cold heart. This can kill a wendigo no matter the power it possesses. Since John is away from his modern world where he could find silver bullets, he can use a silver-covered silver blade or stake to end the wendigo by striking through the wendigo's ice-cold heart.
"How am I supposed to freeze the heart of a wendigo. It's not winter."
"Your powers can do the trick. Just focus!"
As they were about to discuss more on this matter, they heard the whinny of horses. John glances at Bonnie. "I don't think we are expecting any visitors." He then started walking towards the entrance door of the cabin.
Peeping through the edge of the door, he saw two men climbing down from their horses. The first man wears a blue cape around his shoulders and the second man wears a red cape. Each has a sword strapped around their waist. "Lady Bonnie!" the first man called out as they both started approaching the cabin.
John quickly slammed the door open and kicked the first man down. He drew out the man's sword and held it on the neck of the second man. "Where is Neena? Talk now or I slit your throat."
The man raised his hands up. They are both terrified. He opened his mouth and spoke in a quivering voice. "We are scouts sent by Lord Ramsey to fetch Lady Bonnie, the daughter of late King Gilbert."
When they set out for their journey to find Bonnie, they met Rabi on their way and Rabi in good fate told them where they could find Bonnie. However, Rabi didn't dare to disclose Bonnie's identity as a vampire to them even though he knew the King to whom he's loyal, is dead.
Bonnie who has been listening from inside the cabin, on hearing the man use the phrase 'late' in referring to her brother couldn't help but walk out from the cabin. She cast her gaze on the man and asked sternly. "What did I just hear you say?"
