The Omnipotent Mrs. Ranford By Darlene Wright

Chapter 78

Chapter 78

Alexandra said so in fear that Julian would be annoyed at Marco’s and Frank’s calling her that..

After all, she and Julian were not a real couple.

Julian remarked indifferently. “They love to call you that. Do I have the right to shut them up?”

Alexandra muttered with her head low, “… Then you’d better not get mad.”  Sᴇaʀᴄh thᴇ (ꜰind)ɴʘvel.nᴇt website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

“Why would I be mad?”

“Just…”

Alexandra was rendered wordless.

Anyway, ever since she found out that the contact number Julian had left for her was Marco’s number, she understood that she was nothing special in Julian’s eyes.

To avoid embarrassment, Alexandra had been playing games on her phone.

Julian read the business news nearing. Something occurred to him suddenly.

He had left in a hurry on Friday night and had yet to settle scores with Martha.

The headline on Highclere City’s business news section was that the Connolly family’s company will make its capital listed in the domestic stock market tomorrow. New shares would be offered at 3.776 dollars a share.

Reading this message, Julian narrowed his eyes slightly, got up, made his way to the window, and made a call.

After Julian walked away, Alexandra hurriedly fished out a piece of chocolate from a bag, tore open the packaging, and stuffed the chocolate into her

mouth.

She was starving!

After getting through, Carson’s elegant voice came. “Wow! Mr. Ranford! You finally reappear after having been disappearing for a few days? I heard that the Ranford family’s private plane was mobilized last night?”

“Cut the crap. I’m here to patronize your securities company. Help me check who the major shareholders of Lapson Group are. Also, I want to purchase its shares.”

“Lapson Group? John Connolly’s company?” Carson asked.

“Yes.”

“Why did you buy that company’s shares? His company is worthless even if it will be listed! It basically operates a sunset industry! The price of shares. will definitely drop below its issuance price within half a year!”

“I have too much money. And I want to buy them. You can buy some too.”

“What…? Did you get your head hit?”

“Bye.”

After hanging up, Julian turned around, only to see Alexandra leaning forward to take the chocolate.

Feeling a hot gaze at her, Alexandra turned her head and met Julian’s eyes.

A little flustered, she slowly sat up straight and withdrew her small hand from the bag.

When Julian walked over, Marco, wearing an apron, came out of the kitchen.

Alexandra chuckled at the sight of the gray checked apron over Marco’s blue shirt and tie.

Even Julian glanced at him in disdain.

Marco said to Alexandra with a faint smile, “Mrs. Ranford, dinner is ready. Let’s prepare to enjoy the meal!”

“Great.” Alexandra put down her phone and stood up slowly with her hands on the arm of the couch.

With a pink slipper on one foot, she left the swollen foot bared.

Julian stood there without moving.

Watching his boss standing impassively with his hands in his pockets, Marco was helpless with anxiety and disappointment.

Alexandra had just started her long journey with a single hop.

Merco rapidly stepped forward and said loudly, “Oh, my God, Mrs… Ranford, let me help you over! I’m afraid you will fall again!”

“It’s fine. I’ll do it myself” Alexandra declined Marco’s offer to help her up, for it made her look delicate.

“No, you need my help. You can’t get injured a second time!”

Chapter 78

“Go away.” Julian marched over and darted a cold stare at Marco.

Marco stepped aside without hesitation, secretly delighted that he had succeeded in provoking Julian to help Alexandra.

Then, he saw Julian bend down and scoop Alexandra up in his arms.

“You don’t have to do so. I’ll walk on my own…”

Alexandra blushed scarlet.

She was filled with embarrassment to be scooped up by Julian in front of Marco and Frank!

When coming out of the kitchen with braised fish on the plate, Frank could not help clicking his tongue at the sight of Julian’s walking over with Alexandra in his arms.

He then looked back and gave Marco an approving look/

Marco returned him with a V sign.

Marco then quickly ran forward and pulled out a chair for Alexandra. Julian placed Alexandra on the chair before sitting down beside her.

Marco and Frank began to serve the dishes and rice from the kitchen. Before long, the table was filled with various kinds of dishes.

With her eyes sweeping around the delicacies, Alexandra exclaimed, “Frank, you’re amazing! Whoever marries you will be blessed!”

Frank took off his apron and placed it aside before sitting down. “Mrs.. Ranford, I’m not in a hurry to get married. I’m still young”

Marco chimed in smilingly, “Mrs.. Ranford, do you think Frank is willing to cook? He only did it because Mr. Ranford asked him to! Frank is always the laziest guy!”

Not to be outdone, Frank rebutted, “Then don’t eat the food cooked by a lazy person!”

Marco answered with his head high, “I’ll eat it! What are you going to do with me?”

As he spoke, he picked up a piece of braised fish and stuffed it in his mouth.

Alexandra found them funny and cute as she watched Marco and Frank bicker the moment they met.

Eying Alexandra’s bright smile, Julian felt inexplicably relieved.

He silently took a large piece of fish and picked out the bones.

He decided not to interrupt Maroc and Frank. After all, they were always bickering with each other whenever they met.

Alexandra felt that although Marco’s personality was remarkably different from Frank’s, both of them were approachable.

Therefore, Alexandra voiced out the long–lasting question in her heart. “May I ask why are both of you surnamed Ranford? Does the Ranford family hire you because of your surname?”

Hearing her question, Julian couldn’t help but move up the corners of his mouth.

Marco explained excitedly, “Mrs.. Ranford, you don’t know about this, right? Frank and I are both orphans. Mistress Josephine and Master Deacon. opened an orphanage where we later lived. Mistress Josephine raised us up and encouraged us to grow stronger. Now, most of us stay and work for the Ranford family”

“Oh, I see.” Alexandra was quite touched, and her respect for Josephine increased.

Frank also said, “Mrs. Ranford, there are many things you don’t know about the Ranford family! Maybe Mr. Ranford will tell you in detail later.”

Alexandra felt a little awkward, wondering whether Marco and Frank meant to embarrass her.

It seemed that the two of them always wanted to push her closer to Julian.

Alexandra had no choice but to change the topic. “But I wonder who gave you the names? To be honest, the names are not that nice.”

Julian’s hands picking up the bones froze.

Marco and Frank had eye contact silently.

Alexandra then realized that she had said the wrong thing.

Several seconds later, Julian’s slow and deep voice came from beside her. “Grams gave them the names”

“Oh.” Alexandra was sorry for the mistake and added, “What beautiful names! Grams is really good at naming!”

Then, the atmosphere around Alexandra grew more awkward.

Mortified, Alexandra lowered her head to eat.

Then, a piece of fish without bones was gently placed in her bowl.

Alexandra turned to look at Julian with a dazed look. Julian was silent for a moment and said, “What fish is it? Why are there so many bones?”

Then, he acted as if nothing had happened and picked up his fork.

Chapter 78

Alexandra was delighted, surprised that Julian was so considerate in taking care of the patient and picking out the bones of the fish for her.

Other than her late grandmother, no one had treated Alexandra so well.

Marco and Frank snickered beside Alexandra.

Marco said despicably, “Golly! It’s such a big surprise! The fish looks so nice after the bones are picked up by Mr. Ranford!”
