“Why’d you follow me?” Tristan asked.
“You really think I believed you when you said you were going to have breakfast with Kade?” Alex
barked.
“Why would you say
that?”
“I had to come up with something!” Tristan threw his arms up.
“Gabbie, we’re going.”
“Enough Alex. I’m not going to be your omega. You won’t use me for pleasure ever. I’ll take any punishment you give me but I won’t be yours.”
“No one’s punishing you. The only way you’re taking her is if I’m dead.”
“That can be arranged.” Alex stepped forward.
“Whoa, whoa, guys.” Tristan stepped between them.
“He disrespected my mate,” Kade blasted,
“You’re fucking crazy. Admit that you’re only using her.”
“I love her. Look at that mate mark. She’s mine!”
“Stop. Stop fighting! I’m not going and that’s final Alex.” I flopped on the bed and lifted my chin.
Alex ran a frustrated hand down his face. “I can’t protect you if you choose him.”
“Kade’s been protecting me for a long time, Alex.”
Alex’s brows furrowed. “When?”
“Like when your mate attacked me in the woods and when she conspired with Cole to humiliate me! Kade stood up for me. Not you.”
Alex stepped back as if he had been punched. “When did that happen? You never told me?”
Fair. I swallowed. “I couldn’t. Understand that I love Kade and he loves me. Can’t you two just get along
“No!” The exclaimed in unison.
“You heard her Alex. Renounce your claim on her immediately.”
I tugged on Kade’s arm but he only tensed.

“I’ll handle it. Leiah isn’t a saint either.”

your Dad?”
My heart slammed forward and my mouth went dry. Alex’s brows dipped.
“What? What did you say?”
“How will you know about your Dad if you’re in Sanders pack?”
I shook my head no. I barely remembered my Fathers face but I knew he was a mountain of a man. He had a booming voice and he always made him feel safe.
“Don’t do this Alex. You’ve hurt me enough. You don’t know anything about my Dad.
“My Dad’s the Alpha and he knows a lot of things.”
“Is he alive?”
Alex shrugged. “I don’t know. Ask Kade.” Alex turned around and walked out.
Kade put a hand on my shoulder and prevented me from following him.
“If you declare Gabbie as your fated mate now it’ll make a difference when Leiah reports her,” Tristan. said.
Heat rushed to my face. The whole academy would know Kade was my mate. Harlow would be humiliated and she wouldn’t take it lying down. I’d have to be more careful than ever before.
I should have walked with a higher head I was an Alpha’s mate but the Omega’s at the quarters hated me. Because the Alpha I was mated to was the one who supposedly hated omegas the most. They didn’t know the Kade I knew. Blair knew I was fooling around with Kade but she didn’t know I was his fated. mate. She hadn’t said anything to me since the announcement rocked the school. Emery was glad but everyone else’s anger towards me made her nervous so she kept her distance. I didn’t blame her.
That was
just the omega’s reaction. I had to deal with the gammas and the betas. I don’t have a good relationship with the betas anyway. I left the quarters early so I could find a nice corner in a dark room and hide but I was tackled from the side and embraced instead.
Panic rose in me but Harlow would never hug me.
“Gabbie! It’s been so long but I wouldn’t miss your green eyes!”
“Alma?” I gasped.
She released me and I enveloped Alex’s little sister in a hug. Alma was the spitting image of her mother. The same plump cheeks and pink lips. Her brownish blonde hair was the same but it ended on her shoulders. Her cool blue eyes were an inherited feature too.

“You’re not starting here are you?” I asked.
She tucked a strand of hair behind her car and grinned. “I’m not
going to McGregor Academy.”

Alma was on everyone’s lips a few years ago when her wolf came out to be Alpha Female. Some wolves. thought she would rival her brother for the position of Alpha of the pack. Though the title goes according to birth and Alma is three years younger than Alex.
“I’m visiting Alex with Dad and I heard the news. wow!”
Heat rushed to my cheeks. “It’s a lot more than that. Rade’s a good guy but your brother won’t see it
that way.
“Duh, he’s had a crush on you for a while. He expected you to come here sooner.
“Things didn’t turn out that way Alma now he’s messed things up.”
She pouted. “Don’t give up on him. He’s a total mess right now it’s because of you isn’t it?”
“I don’t know. He’s got things to sort out like his mate
Alma rolled her eyes. “Alex does not know how to pick them. I’ll talk to him okay? He’ll apologize, I
swear.
I nodded just to please her but a part of me wondered if an apology would be enough.
“I’ll see you later.” I gave her another squeeze and we parted.
I entered McGregor Castle with the library in mind. Kade asked me to join him for breakfast which was in thirty minutes but I was nervous about eating among the Alphas.
“Miss Chambers,” Athena’s cool voice stopped me.
“Yes?”
“I’m afraid you’re in a lot of trouble.”
I swallowed. Leiah of course.
“I was only defending myself she attacked me.”
“It’s your word against a Luna elect.” Athena shook her head. “But due to Alpha Kade’s recent declaration things have changed. My orders were to lock you up.”
“Oh gosh, what do I do?”
“Sanders pack is responsible for your defence now. This is a warning to you Gabbie once Kade’s Father learns about this. There will be another target on your head.”
