Chapter 41
The Omega Best Friend

Chapter 41
“Gabbie! Oh, you are so dead!” Emery hopped on top of me.
“Ouff,” I rubbed my eyes to meet my friend’s bewildered friend. “What did I do?”
“You disappeared, that’s what you did,” came Blair’s voice.
“Right… long story?” I chuckled nervously.
“Uh–huh, we have time. Maybe not as much we have to be at the castle for breakfast.” Blair slipped into her blazer.
“At the castle?” I turned to Emery.
She shrugged, “Yeah, well outside the castle. The cafeteria caught fire here and messed up storage space and most of our food.
“We’ll be eating scrap for months,” Blair mumbled.
‘Crap, I said.
“Come on ladies,” Blair walked out.
I kicked my sheets off so I could hurry and have a quick shower.
“Wait,” Emery put a hand on my shoulder. “I thought something bad happened to you. I thought Harlow or Leiah…”
“It wasn’t either of them. It was Kade’s Father. He wants me out of the picture.”
Heat rushed to her cheeks and water to her eyes. “I’m sorry Gabbie. I didn’t know what to do I just hoped you were okay. Alex, he went crazy looking for you which made his girlfriend mad as hell.”
“Oh great now she’s going to make sure I disappear for good.”
tray. I
The girls and I walked to the castle grounds. We passed the cafeteria high–rank cafeteria. The one Leiah embarrassed me in. I felt him close. I paused for a second before grabbing a bun off the could never feel Kade before. Maybe it was a thing that came after having sex. I received a bowl of chicken soap. I sighed and walked to the table with Emery and Blair. I didn’t miss the food here.
We were close enough to see the others laugh while they ate. Alex wasn’t in there. I had to have a conversation with him sooner.
“What’s going on over there?” Blair asked.
“Whaட்going
Emery and I leaned forward. White cotton–like hair waves around. I recognized Leiah and Eva on the table the girl with white hair sat on. I couldn’t make out what Harlow said but it was loud enough to capture the attention of the omegas:
“Is that Alpha Kade?” Emery asked.

I swallowed.
“Trouble in paradise.” Blair cast a glance at me.
I bit my lip, Harlow pointed at the tent, my heart skipped a beat, Kade stepped in front of her. He was big enough to hide Harlow entirely.
“That doesn’t look good,” Emery whimpered.
Leiah stood, a fat grin on her face. This didn’t look good. I pushed my bowl aside. Everyone was captivated by the drama no one would notice me slip away.
“I’m going to kill her! Harlow stormed from her table. Leiah flipped her hair and followed behind Harlow.
“Go, go,” Emery nudged me.
Kade grabbed Harlow’s arm and stopped her mid–march.
“You’ve lost your mind if you think I’m going to let an omega make a fool of me.”
“You’re not going to defy me. Let’s go, Kade barked.
“No.”
Kade tightened his grip, “I’m not going to ask again. Move Harlow. You, Leiah, won’t move beyond this. point.”
“For now Alpha Kade, for now, Leiah smiled.
I picked up my tray with trembling hands and left the table. Harlow wouldn’t stop because Kade told her to. This just gave Leiah fire to go after me again.
“Things are really strange around here,” I heard a girl say.
“You’re telling me. Alpha Kade denounces Harlow as Luna’s elect because of an omega.”
My food tray landed heavily on the table, carning me a nasty glare from the cafeteria lady. I balled my hands into fists and walked off. I kept my head down and marched off. The omega quarters were empty which made me an easy target. I turned to the main castle. I could hide in the labyrinth of the library.
“Gabbie,” Eva appeared out of the hedges on the walkway to the castle side entrance.
I screamed and clutched my chest. She cringed and fiddled with her hands.
“Sorry. Are you okay?
I looked over my shoulder. “Fine. Your friends won’t stop, will they?”
“Of course not. I can’t believe Kade thought that was the perfect time to denounce Harlow after being gone for days. Men are impossible.”

I nodded. “Now she’s going to kill me.”
Eva sighed that didn’t give me hope. “You have to be careful. Kade can’t monitor Harlow and Leiah all the time.”
“You’re right. Gosh, what do I do?”
“Gabbie,” Alex’s voice came from behind me.
Every nerve in my body shook. I whirled.
“Alex? What are you-
“Eva told me you were in trouble.”
I glared at Eva. She shrugged. “I’m going to leave you now.” She scurried off in her three–inch heels.
Alex and I stared at each other for a minute. A question that needed an answer hung in the wanted me and I vanished without giving him an answer or the truth.
Alex, I-
“Stop.” He wrapped me in his arms.
He kissed my neck and I trembled. I circled his waist.
“What the hell Gabriella? Where did you go.”
I chuckled nervously, “Long story. I’m sorry.”
“Come on.”

Alex locked my hand in his. He opened the side door entrance to the school. We emerged into a cold. hallway with brown marble floors and locked doors with golden frames.
“Where are we going?”
He opened a door with a golden knob revealing a set of silver stairs. The last time I used a crappy set of stairs I ended up in a medieval chamber. Alex raised his brows, prompting me to proceed. Expecting the room to be lit by candles I was disappointed when Alex flipped a switch at the end of the short stairs.
“What is this place?” I asked.
“Used to be an Alpha lounge but the school refurbished another room for us.
Instead of plush couches and maybe a bar, there was a long wooden table with six chairs in the room. with royal blue wallpaper.
“Look I have a lot to tell you but I’m scared.”
He took a step forward. He shook his head and before I knew it I was caged between his chest and the

“You don’t have to be scared of me.” He pressed our heads together. “You know that.”
“I..I know but I’m scared of what you’ll do.”
“What did Eva mean when she said you were in trouble?”
I swallowed. Damn, Eva.
“Harlow’s got it out for me and your girlfriend might too.”
He pulled back and raised his brow. “Leiah would never hurt you.”
I frowned. Alex didn’t know about the incident in the forest.
“Harlow, yes but why? What happened that you haven’t told me about?”
I swallowed the lump in my throat. Alex waited expectantly. It was now or never Gabbie before I spoke a shape pain in my abdomen formed and I buckled. The pain turned into a throb inside me. I cradled my middle and panted.
“Gabbie, what’s wrong?
“I have no idea.” I knew Kade had something to do with it because I could smell him. I could see him in my mind’s eye and he was looking for me.
