I unlocked the door and threw it open. If it was a trick I would have been killed on the spot. My chest heaved as I stared at Kade standing on my doorstep I flew into his arms. Kade encased me in his arms A series of sobs rattled my body.

1 shook my head and my hand went to the silver pendant on my chest. “She was all I had. My Dad disappeared years ago. I’ve never heard of any other family.”
Kade’s gaze went to my necklace. Something paced on his features. It went as quickly as it came.
“Have you always worn that?” He asked.
I nodded. “Under my uniform. It was my Dad’s why?”
“Nothing, it looks custom–made.”
“Really? You think we can figure out who made it?”
“I can,” he swallowed. I frowned he hadn’t taken his eyes off the pendant or was he looking at my
breasts?
“Hey! My eyes are up here?”
Kade blinked then chuckled, “You have beautiful eyes Was your Dad a wolf?”
“Yeah, but I don’t remember much about him. When he was around he travelled a lot but when he was around we were really close.”
“Did he work for the Alpha?”
I tipped my head to the side, “Now I can’t remember, I think so because the Alpha was here a lot. They were friends”
Kade nodded, “So that’s how you and Alex became so close.”
A lump formed in my throat. I had to tell him. Kade was a hothead and he didn’t like Alex already. My body went stiff thinking about what would happen when Kade found out I kissed my best friend and when my best friend found out his enemy was my boyfriend. I was screwed.
“Are you sure you’re okay?” Kade asked.
I cleared my throat and got to my feet. “I’m sorry I don’t have anything to feed you. You can imagine the horror I found in my fridge”
I regretted opening the fridge the second I did week old milk smell hit my nostrils. Kade palmed the door shut. I whirled and smacked into Kade’s body.
“What’s up?” I winced.
His eyes narrowed, “What’s up with you? Something you want to tell me?”

His eyes turned to saucers faster than I anticipated. He grabbed my arms and rattled me. I sucked int my bottom lip and cowered at the rage I’d never seen on Kade before.
