The Omega Best Friend

Chapter 16

Chapter 16

Gabbie- Intended mates

Finished

I was up just as the sun seeped into our room. I had a massive hoodie on that covered my ankles. I hadn’t stopped thinking about it. The way he kissed me. Like he owned me. Did all wolves kiss that way? He held me like I was his, but at the same time as if I was fragile and I would break. I felt powerless in his hold like all I had to do was let him bend me to his will. At that moment I would have let him. Gladly I came to my senses quickly.

I have no idea why Kade kissed me. I doubt he knew either. Maybe he did it just because he could. What a jerk. Then he had the guts to storm off on me after insulting me. If I could I would stay in

my room forever. Some wolves pinned me and kissed me out there against my will.  Sᴇaʀ*ᴄh the FindNʘᴠᴇl.nᴇt website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

“You’re up early,” Blair said as she suppressed a yawn. She walked out of her bed and over to the closet.

“So are you. We don’t have to be at school until noon today.”

“I know. I have plans with Dexter”

“Dexter?”

She looked over her shoulder and blushed. Blair blushing

“Dexter’s my mate….my intended mate anyway. He hasn’t marked me yet.”

“I had no idea you had a mate.”

She dipped her head to the side and placed a hand on her hip. “He was my date to the Gamma ritual.

“Right…” I thought he was just a date. “How long have you two been together?”

“We’re heading for two years. Everything feels so right with him. He’s an omega too and more than anyone understands me and what it’s like to live in this world.”

I gave her a half smile, but it came from a place of truth. She found her other half and it was beautiful. He liked her for her and not any power she possessed. It had nothing to do with rank just how they felt for each other.

Give it time Gabbie. There are lots of other things you can do before you start dating.”

I was kicked out of bed. “Ugh, I don’t think I want to yet Blair. The wolves here are…. ugh. Never

mind.”

“Yes, I know some are complete airheads, especially the upper ranks. Some gammas are okay, but here. Blair pulled out a mini blue sundress from the closet and pressed it against her

“How about pink?” I asked.

She scowled and shoved the dress back into the closet.

“I know I’ve softened, but I’ve not gone completely to mush.”

I snickered. I might as well get ready for the day too. Incognito was how I was feeling for the day. A black cap with a massive hoodie and plain pants. If I could disappear I could. I managed to mail my letter yesterday after Kade left me kissed and shaken. I reached for my phone under my pillow to check if I didn’t have any messages from Mom. Though, the space under my pillow was empty.

“What?” I flipped the pillow away. “No.”

I ran to my laundry basket to check yesterday’s clothes. Maybe I left it in my jeans. I must have. My clothes were clean. I tossed everything out of the basket, but there was no sign of the smartphone with a pink phone case.

“You’ve got to be kidding me.”

I retraced my steps from the omega quarters and the surrounding areas. I would have noticed if I dropped it. I fretted until I found myself about to walk into a lake. My head was so clouded 1 hadn’t realized how far I walked. I couldn’t even enjoy the serene flow of water. I even went back to the scene of my first kiss. Omegas were rushing to our first class of the day, making it difficult for me to inspect the grass.

“Oh, no what if somebody found it?” I said. “How would I get it back?”

“Gabbie? Come on we have to get to class.” Emery shouted, dragging my arm as she bounced ahead of everyone.

I couldn’t even tell her I lost my phone. No one knew I had it.

“What’s with the hat?” She asked.

“I wanted to lay low today.” I replied.

“Hats aren’t allowed in class. The teachers for this one are difficult.”

Just what I needed. A difficult class. When we got to class I aimed for the back seat. Maybe the teacher wouldn’t notice me sitting in the back. I sat next to a couple of boys who looked like they belonged in the class clown category. Emery and Blair sat in the front row. I would have to take my chances with a couple of silly wolves.

“Listen up omegas.”

My eyes went wide. Oh no.

“We’ve got to set up some ground rules before we start. Obey the rules and no one gets hurt.”

I hunched down in my seat as Leiah and her crew pranced to the front of the class. When Emery

this class? Leiah and Harlow stood in front of the class of about twenty omegas.

Leiah wore a mini skirt that would show the world everything if the bent over to pick up a pen. She discarded her rank shirt and wore a plain white shirt and tied it into a knot at the bottom, exposing her belly button. Her shirt was see–through enough for the class to see her black and white bra. Harlow on the other hand let her cleavage fall out of her shirt. She hadn’t gone with the dramatic skirt, but jeans that shaped the curves of her legs perfectly. She let her perfect white hair fall over her shoulders. Even without trying Harlow looked deadly. She stared at us as if we were worthless. I didn’t want to think about what she would do to me if she knew her mate had kissed me. I shrunk some more in my seat.

The door opened again and this time Kade walked in. His head held high, shoulders rolled back. He carried an aura of confidence and arrogance. He didn’t even notice me. I breathed a sigh of relief. A part of me ached because of what happened yesterday, but it shouldn’t have he stormed

off on me and insulted me. He got to the front of the class and stood next to Harlow. His

I cast my eyes to my lap. It shouldn’t hurt. Get yourself together Gabbie. He didn’t matter. What mattered was getting out of this class alive.

Leiah planted her hand on her hip and smirked, “We can start. I like to call this class Pack Service. and Survival. As you know Alphas teach according to packs and your Alpha isn’t around. As his mate and your future Luna, I’ll be overseeing his class. As with protocol my Alpha and his future Luna have to be here, When t

packs are joined with matrimony pack customs tend to blend.”

The room was dead silent. Everyone paid attention to Leiah’s words. The sound of her heels. clicking against the stone floor was the only sound in the room.

“Omega. Hats are not allowed in class. Rule number one of survival in the pack; always do as you are told. Hat off now!” She barked.

“Shoot,” I whispered.

I pulled the cap off my head slowly and my bundled–up hair rolled down my shoulders. I fisted. the cap in my hands and kept my head down. The sound of her heels got louder and before I knew it she was beside my desk.

“How ironic, the little cunt finally did as she was told. Nothing to say? Good.” She spat.

I wouldn’t lift my head to face her. I didn’t like what she did to me, but I was in no way afraid of her. She was a power–hungry bitch who hid behind her rank. I wouldn’t provoke her I wasn’t looking for a fight. Not yet.

“All omegas should know how things work. There are consequences for your disobedience, you take what you get and remain silent. Our little omega here hasn’t been obedient. So, I’m going to show you what happens when omegas don’t do as they’re told!”

I looked at us just as her claws stuck out of her fingers and aimed right at me. I wouldn’t be able to withstand her wolf strength and her venom would surely kill me. Alex wasn’t here. I didn’t react quickly enough but thank goodness. A large hand grabbed Leiah’s wrist before she could make contact. Gasps filled the room.

happens when omegas cross the line.”

“I didn’t sign up for this. I’ve got things to do and you want to waste time attending to your vendettas?”

“I’m teaching a class.” She cried.

“Fuck this. Class dismissed. I’m sure to give Alex a good report of what happened.”

“Fuck you, Kade.” She puffed and stormed out of the room.

Finished

I placed a hand on my aching chest and tried to calm my shaking self down. Kade eyed me for a second before he turned and walked out. The class began to scatter. I got up too on shaky legs.

“Hey,” the boy seated next to me said.

He held out my black cap. He had a boyish smirk on his face, “You’re too beautiful to wear it

anyway.”

My breath caught in my throat. Did he mean that?

I reached out for it as if it were a portion of a cloud. “Than.. thank you.”

He smiled brighter, “I’m Cole.”

“Gabbie.”

“Well Gabbie, see you around.” He walked out leaving me caught between shaken and flustered.

I dashed out because I had to see Kade. I needed to talk to him, not about the class. About my phone instead. I knew I had it when I was with him. He was standing outside when I walked out.

Kade.”

He rolled his eyes at me. He was kidding if he thought I would call him Alpha Kade

“What?”

“I need to talk to you.”

The door slammed behind me. When I glanced to see what it was I came face to face with Harlow.
