The Omega Best Friend

Chapter 10

Chapter 10

Moon Cave–Gabbie

We were waiting on betas today. Omegas were supposed to be soft and caring. They practically cleaned up after the pack and took care of the needs of everyone else. So, the betas were our test dummies. Mom taught me how to cook, clean and sow so this class was a breeze. The betas were difficult to handle because they were determined to make this class difficult for us.

Everyone else took their crap because there was nothing else they could do. I wanted to kick at beta in the shin, but that would land me in detention. So, I kept my head down and did my work. Where were at the Beta Squad? The smaller castle that housed the betas. That’s where we did the cleaning, the waiting and even folding their laundry.

I carried a pile of clothes to take to the rooms on the second floor.

I sighed, “Can’t wait to get back to the quarters.”

“The redhead. She’s hot bro.”

I paused and nearly choked on my saliva. The only other redhead among the omegas was a boy named Greg. A couple of the betas were in a room talking. If I continued walking they would hear me and I was sure I was the redhead they were talking about. Then again they could have been speaking about a beta female.

“I heard she doesn’t have a wolf though.”

Now I knew for sure they were talking about me.

“It’s a shame. I know I would love to smash that. One e

guy said.

“Who cares bro? It’s just sex. It’s not like I’d mate her or anything.” The other guy said.

“Yeah, who wants a mate without a wolf? Worse have a baby with one.”

My face burned in a way it never had before. I was sure pink was scattered across my nose and my cheeks.

“So, what pursue?” The rest of the guys laughed.

I left the pile of clothes outside the bedroom door and scurried down the stairs. Is that all I was good for? A good fuck? No one wants a mate without a wolf. I’m not mate material. My wolf’s dead and so I’m condemned. Tears burned my eyes, but there was no way I would let them fall. It was okay. I didn’t want a mate that wouldn’t have me for who I was anyway.

I stumbled into the kitchen and tripped on two baskets of clothes, knocking one over.

“Hey, what’s

up with you?” Blair asked.

I scowled, shoving the un–ironed clothes into the basket. She was ironing another lot while another girl folded.

“Nothing? Look at you, you’re flushed. Did one of the bastards say something inappropriate?”

I finally looked at her. She was staring at me, with the iron in mid–air expecting an answer.

“Just… the stupid betas talking.” I said.

“What did they say?” She put the iron on the floor and walked over to me.

I still found the new Blair weird, but she was the only friend besides Alex I had here. I also didn’t get my brain blasted for hanging out with Blair as opposed to when I did with Alex.

I told her what they said. I didn’t like the way my voice cracked and my hands trembled. I hated the way they spoke about me. The way they condemned me to never having a mate because of what I lacked. It hurt a deep part of me. I didn’t want to be alone for the rest of my life.

She patted my back awkwardly. “Don’t listen to them. You probably should be careful of them, but hey your wolf could still show up remember?”

“It’s dead, Blair.”

She shook her head, “No, it isn’t. It’s probably dormant. It happens. You should go to the Cave of Seekers.”

“Cave of Seekers? What is-

“It’s a cave, dumbass.” She rolled her eyes.

“I know that! What happens there? How’s that going to help me?”

“Well..” she pulled me out of the laundry room. Two more girls entered the room with piles of clothes. We walked out to the garden where my classmates were working. “It’s a sacred cave with magical powers. I’ve heard it gives wolves extra powers sometimes. It’s off–limits most of the time, but I think if you’re going on wanting your wolf to come out it just might happen.”

“So it’s not a given?”

“No, but it’s a chance Gabbie!”

I groaned. I know and chances were few and far between.

“Okay, where is the cave?”

She looked over the trees, behind the Camma mansion and beyond the Omega quarters.

“Mystic Rock. The cave’s in there, but-”

“Great! What are the risks?”

“Gabbie, wolves don’t just go into Mystic Rock, you have to be an Alpha or have permission. We

“Fine, we don’t get caught then.”

“Gabbie-”

“You shouldn’t have told me if you didn’t want me to go running there.”

She bobbed her head from left to right. “My mistake. Now I have to go to

trouble.”  Sᴇaʀ*ᴄh the Find_Nøvel.ɴet website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

“There are a ton of caves in there,” Blair said.

“Oh no! You have no idea which cave it is, do you?”

“It’s not like it’s the social centre of the school!”

Blair and I stared at a huge silver rock with wide black openings. I wanted my wolf to appear, but I wasn’t sure I wanted to go in there.

“Well, are you going to stand there staring or are we going in?” Blair bumped my shoulder.

Sensible me was silenced and reckless me took over. I rushed ahead of Blair, despite her yells for me. I darted into the first opening I came to. It was bigger than the one to the right with the spikes dangling out of the opening. The moment I was far in enough I was hit with the scent of moisture in the air.

As I walked I thought about my wolf and how I wanted it to come alive. The surface of the cave was damp and it got worse as I went along. The ceiling was high with sharp rocks sneering down at me. Seconds later a crystal blue pool materialized in front of me.

I swallowed. Blair didn’t mention getting into a body of water. I turned and she wasn’t there. She’d gone into another cave or chickened out on me. I wouldn’t let her live it down if she chickened out. As I neared the crystal blue water I noticed it was unstable, the current

I was rough and rushed toward a small opening through the rocks.

It felt too dangerous to go in, but if I wanted my wolf I was going to have to take the risk. What if this didn’t work? A hand popped out of the water and gripped the edge of the rock. I screamed and hit a solid wall

A guy with black hair covering his face pulled himself out of the water. He was butt naked. I really thought I’d seen enough butt–naked men, but they kept coming. He pushed his hair back and stood tall. He revealed a set of perfectly blue pale eyes.

“You? What the hell are you doing here?” Kade blasted.

There was nowhere for me to run so I kept on bumping into the same sharp rock. I tried looking. away, not to look at what he was clearly packing-

Uh… nothing…I–uh.”

He marched towards me, blocking my entire view of the pool with his wet rock rock–hard abs. I swallowed, I had to face him.

“Omegas aren’t allowed in here.” His husky voice sent shivers down my spine and I didn’t like it.

“Would you believe me if I said I took a wrong turn?” I stole a glance at his face.

His brows were burrowed and he looked at me as if I were a puzzle he couldn’t put together. He was dripping wet and every part of me yearned to look at him, to marvel at each perfectly tanned. muscle and ripped body part. That would only add to the awkwardness of the situation.

“I wouldn’t be surprised. Bad luck seems to follow you. Mystic Rock’s forbidden to omegas too unless otherwise.”

I felt his rage building. My deodorant was giving out and my palms were sweating. If I ran, I doubted I could get very far. I might even slip and smash my face.

“So, Gabbie, are you going to tell me what you’re looking for here, other than looking for

trouble?”

I didn’t know what he was reaching for, something that was behind me or me… but Kade stopped. mid–air when Alex’s voice echoed through the cave.

“Kade!”

“What?” Kade snapped, turning away from me.

I exhaled and slumped on the rock a little. A mistake because I caught a glimpse of Kade’s firm ass. I shut my eyes knowing my nose and cheeks were cherry red.

Alex marched over to me in his dark blue jeans and white–sleeved shirt and yanked me from the rock I was permanently glued to.

“Why are you here? Did he put you up to this?” He barked.

“What?” I stammered.

“Of course not.” Kade spat. “I was trying to figure out why your little omega was here too.”

They both stared at me. I bit my bottom lip and stared at the wet blue–green rock beneath my

feet.

“Luh got lost?” I looked at Alex and blinked a couple of times.

me outside the cave while he stayed with Kade. I pressed myself against the stone outside the cave and listened in.

“What did you do to her? What were you going to do?” Alex barked.

My heart skipped a few beats I swear the possessiveness in Alex’s tone made my body weak.

“Are you dumb or what? She caught me by surprise.” Kade barked back.

“Gabbie wouldn’t be here unless an Alpha like you ordered her to.”

“Are you sure about that?” Kade asked.

I frowned. He didn’t even know me.

“No… still Kade. Stay away from her. She isn’t like the other girls here. You can’t play with her.”

Kade laughed. “I wouldn’t mess with an omega anyway, especially one without a wolf. Keep her.”

“Good. I trust you’ll keep your distance then. Battle season’s a month away I don’t want to deal with you early.”

“Watch it, Alex.”

“No, you watch you, Kade. Don’t forget I have the advantage.”

I pulled myself away from the wall and darted for the exit, but Alex grabbed me before I could. get within two feet of the cave opening.

“I knew you’d eavesdrop.”

I sighed. “I didn’t know he would be here.”

“Only alphas come here and that cave is where they go for… pleasure.” He gave me a wolfish grin.

I shook my head and fluttered my lashes. “That’s a sex cave?”

He shrugged, “I mean, it’s nice and private so why not? Plus, a power surge and the moon cave. powers are a pretty good combination.”

“Moon cave?”

Alex ushered me along. “Yeah, it has special healing and rejuvenating powers.”

I looked back at the massive rock and wondered which opening held the cave of seekers.

“What about the cave of seekers?”

Alex raised his brow at me. “Why would you want to

want to go there?”

“Uh… no reason. Alex… how did you find me? Where you… going to the sex cave too?”

I nodded, but when I was about to question him he dragged me along.
