Chapter 10: The Breakout at Blackwater Hold, Part 1
Over the next few days, the rest of the gangs started to arrive at the warehouse. They all dressed to represent which mob they belonged to, red for the Drake Gang, green for Basilisk, and purple for Hydra. Just like the Manticore Gang, the others had around a dozen men.
I let everyone rest and settle in for a day. The following morning, I got up early to gather them all. It was time to strategize our break out at Black Water Hold. I stood in the center of our little campsite, within the warehouse.
“Spara,” I cast the Speaker Spell. I placed the tip of my wand up to my throat. “Arise my brothers and sisters,” I said with an amplified voice. “The bells of liberation are tolling.”
I waited from all of them to fully wake up, get dressed, and to come out of their tents. As they gathered around, I ceased the spell and used my normal speaking voice. “Good morning,” I started. “I hope you are all well rested, for we have a busy day ahead of us...
The time to free the others is upon us. Are there any among you who are familiar with the layout of Black Water Hold?”
“I am...” Damien spoke, raising his hand. “The prison is strict but my mother and I are still allowed a monthly visit with father.”
“And the security, what is like?”
“All wands all surrendered upon entry. They have a magic detector that you walk through. It will trigger a small alarm, just stating to the guards if your carrying a wand or any enchanted items. If cleared, you continue to the jailing areas of the prison for your visit.”
“You visit with your father while he is confined in his cell?”
“All prisoners at Black Water Hold are shackled with enchanted chains and are to never leave their cell.”
“Barbaric of them, forcing you to see him through bars...in chains. But freedom is close at hand for him and the others. Tell me, what are the chains enchanted with?”
“A Suppression Spell, preventing its captor from casting magic. My father complained of feeling drained and tired from them.”
“A Suppression Spell...” I uttered thinking on a possible plan. “And what of the prisoner’s belongings? Are their wands kept within the prison as well?”
“The wands are locked away in the basement storage. The guard, who works the front desk, is the only one with access to it. He is given a list of prisoners, due for release that day. I have seen him retrieve them at the same time, eleven in the morning...an hour before the prisoners are set to be freed.”
“That is good to know,” I said, forming a solid scheme. “Are the enchanted bags still in our possession from the heist?”
“Yes,” replied Micah. “We all dumped the gold out and brought them back.”
“Then, I have a plan...we storm the prison. Half our men will retrieve all the wands in storage, using the enchanted bags. They will be led by Damien and Micah, since Damien can recognize the guard at the front desk. Hector, Benjamin, and the other half of men will be with me...freeing our brothers.
After the wands are gathered, they will be brought to us in the jailing area. Once we have released our comrades from their shackles, they will be able to retrieve their wands and help us fight our way back out of the prison...together.”
“What about the enchanted chains?” chimed in Thrasher.
“I believe Brakios should work. Using the Breaking Spell should remove the anti-casting Suppression Spell on the shackles, turning them into normal chains. Upon which, we will use Invada, the Invade Spell, to unlock and remove the chains altogether.”
“Your plans holds,” stated Thrasher in surprise. “It could work...”
“It will work,” I corrected.
“When do we move upon Black Water?” asked Damien curiously.
“In an hour’s time,” I said boldly. “We will depart here right before eleven, when the guard at the front desk is about to go retrieve wands from storage.”
“And how will we get in?” Thrasher chimed back in. “Are we just waltzing through the front door?”
“I will get us in...do not worry about that. So, take the next hour to prepare yourselves and make sure to wear something...black. You are no longer part of individual mobs, but are now a part of my family as a whole entity. Therefore, we must looked unified.”
I left them, walking over and sitting upon my throne. They returned into their tents to eat breakfast, redress in the color I instructed, and armed themselves before rejoining me. As they started coming back out of the tents, I stood back up.
“Today, we set in motion the fall of the Council of Magic,” I started, noticing everyone was present. The men cheered at my words. However, I raised my hand to silence them shortly after.
“After we set our brothers free, we will have the numbers to begin direct assaults against the council members and their Inquisitor forces...Stand by me and no longer will you fear the names Wynonna Wiccen, Kalvin Krowley, Everett Summit, and Lucian Von Castle. Instead, it is they who will fear us...up until they met their bitter end, by my wand.”
They gave another joyous applause. “Come, to Black Water Hold!” I yelled to penetrate their cheers. As I stepped down from my throne, I watched as, one by one, they teleported from the warehouse.
I quickly removed my wand from its holster. With a slight wave, “Varos, Black Water Hold,” I cast. I disappeared from Goblin Goods, resurfacing with my men. We were standing roughly thirty yards away from the high security fence surrounding the prison.
There were two watch towers, one on each side of the main entrance onto the prison grounds. Guards, in the tower, saw as we appeared and began sounding their alarms. They could tell by the look of us that we weren’t here for mere visitation.
In the distance, past the fence and near the prison, we heard loud bangs like a series of explosions going off. I peered around the prison and noticed stone sentries, similar to Hammer Vault’s, were lined outside Black Water Hold.
The stone sentries, resembling knights and armed with swords, were stationed along the rooftop. When the alarms were sounded, it must have activated them. Now they were jumping from the roof and landing in the courtyard. This caused fear amongst my men, not me though.
I stepped forward, walking closer to the watch towers. Upon approach, I raised both my hands high above my head. “Crushendio,” I chanted. I felt as the spell activated, intensifying the force of gravity on the metal fence and watch towers.
As I lowered my arms slowly, the gravity increased. The loud sound of creaking metal could be heard as everything started to bend toward the ground. One of the guards sprang into action. He cast Incendia, a fireball toward me.
However, lucky for me, Damien stepped up. He countered the fireball with an ice one, using Faralies. The two evaporated one another in the air, next to me. Sheesh...that was close.
I continued to lower my arms, applying more force. When my arms came down to my waistline, the watch tower beams snapped as the fence began bending more towards the ground. The towers fell over to the ground, right beside me and I stood between the two.
I lowered my arms even further, now next to my thighs. The force was so strong that the fence flattened upon the ground as the towers, too, crumbled to rubble. With our entrance onto the prison grounds now paved, I ceased the spell for it was time to face the stone sentries still headed this way...
