The Mystical White Wolf

Chapter SEVENTEEN-DATE NIGHT GONE WRONG

Staci POV

I was sitting at my vanity inside my closet while Monica curled my hair and told me about her date with Carter last night. Monica told me that Carter had taken her to the movies and an Italian restaurant called Angelo's. Afterward, Carter took Monica to a bakery called Bellaria's, where they taste-tested different desserts.

"He sounds like a true romantic," I told Monica.

"Oh, he is. Where is Antonio taking you tonight?" Monica asked me.

"He wouldn't say, just said it was a surprise and wear something comfortable," I was deep in my thoughts, thinking about my date with Antonio and where he was taking me.

"Done, babes," Monica said, smiling.

I looked in my vanity mirror and gasped. Monica had curled my hair and pinned it up, leaving a few strands hanging down. It was beautiful; I thanked her and took one last look in the mirror at myself.

I chose to wear a light white fabric sweater, some skinny dark jeans, and matching white boots.

"I hope this is comfortable enough," I thought as Solaris hummed.

"You look beautiful, Staci," I heard Monica say as she stood to the side to admire her work.

"Thanks, babe. I owe you one," I said, blowing a kiss at her as she blew one back.

"Don't mention it. Just have fun tonight," Monica said as she waved bye and left the bedroom.

"Woah," I stumbled and grabbed onto the dresser for support.

I grabbed my head as my temples throbbed and closed my eyes. I didn't understand why these dizzy spells happened more frequently now. I would ask Solaris what the hell was going on with us. She would always dodge the question or say I will know when the time is right.

It was starting to piss me off that she was keeping secrets from me about my life. Solaris is my other half, and we are supposed to talk about stuff like this when it concerns the both of us.

Once I could control my dizzy spell and focus, I straightened up and checked my outfit and hair. I left the bedroom and headed toward the elevator. When the doors opened, I stepped inside and pushed the button for the first floor as the doors closed.

When the elevator stopped on the first floor, and the doors opened. I stepped out as Liam stepped forward and bowed.

"Luna," Liam said.

"Uh, hi, Liam," I said and giggled.

"The Alpha sent me to escort you for your date," Liam said.

I smiled and nodded as Liam bowed and signaled me to follow him. We exited through the side of the castle. We walked down a set of steps and headed toward the forest. The sun had already set, and the full moon rose in the night sky.

I smiled as the stars set the sky, smelled the fresh, crisp May air, and felt the breeze against my skin as I followed Liam. I noticed we were walking farther into the forest and became alert. The scents around me seemed different.

"Don't worry, Luna. We are still within the pack's borders," Liam said, making me sigh with relief.

This part of the forest was thick with trees and fallen logs. With my werewolf hearing, I could hear a rush of water nearby. I also listened to the various wildlife nearby and smelled a deer. I looked ahead as we came to a clearing surrounded by giant oak trees and vines.

I could hear what sounded like a waterfall nearby as Liam stopped and bowed.

"The Alpha awaits," Liam said as I looked at him confused.

Liam pointed toward the vines. I sighed, stepped forward, moved the vines out of my way, and gasped as the view became clear. There was a massive waterfall with water splashing from rocks and a pond. I looked again and saw a cute little table with two chairs before the pond and waterfall.

"Do you like it?" Antonio's deep accented voice said from behind me as his strong arms wrapped around my waist.

"It's beautiful," I said, admiring our date night scenery.

Antonio gently pulled me toward our table and pulled my chair out. I graciously sat as Antonio pushed my chair in and walked over to take his seat. Wine glasses and food-covered plates were before us. The scent hit my nostrils, making my mouth water. I wondered what was prepared for dinner.

"Shall we see what's for dinner?" Antonio asked after he finished filling our wine glasses.

I nodded excitedly as Antonio smiled and grabbed the covers, lifting them. I looked down at my plate and smiled. There were prime-cooked steaks with mashed potatoes and gravy, cooked asparagus, and some buttered rolls. I squealed delightfully. I picked up my fork and steak knife and started digging in.

Antonio chuckled and began to eat his dinner as we made light conversation. I picked up my wine glass and sipped it, and the sweet and sour taste hit my tongue, making me moan.

"Mmm, delicious wine. Where did you get it?" I asked, staring into Antonio's lust-filled eyes.

"After my Uncle, Ricardo, retired from being the Alpha, he and his mate Alicia brought a vineyard in the Nappa Valley."

"He sends me wine every few months as gifts," Antonio said, tilting his wine glass to me.

"Wow!" I thought.

"That's incredible, baby. Can we visit sometime? I would love to see the Napa Valley," I said.

"Sure. Maybe this weekend," Antonio said as we continued our dinner date.

After dinner, the omegas brought out some desserts. It was a fresh-baked Oreo cake that looked heavenly-filled and delicious. Antonio and I were given a slice as the omegas collected our dinner dishes and left.

I picked up my fork, scooped a piece of the cake, and put it in my mouth. The flavors exploded on my tongue as I moaned. I heard a low growl, and Antonio's eyes were pitch-black. He licked his lips.

"Sorry. It's just so good," I said and scooped another piece.

While I was enjoying my slice of cake and scenting my mate's arousal and lust for me. I had the strangest feeling of being watched. I looked around but didn't see anything. Call me crazy, but it was like a sixth sense, and I could feel the mysterious person's eyes on me.

"What's wrong, my love?" Antonio's voice filled my ears.

"I don't know. I feel like someone is watching me," I said.

Antonio growled as I grabbed his hand to help calm his wolf. Antonio took a deep breath as his eyes returned to normal, and they glazed over. A few minutes later, Antonio's eyes cleared, and he looked at me.

"Liam and Alphons are checking the border," Antonio said, but the feeling didn't disappear.

Antonio stiffened, and I watched his eyes glaze over again. It was a while before his eyes cleared, and he looked at me.

"The border is clear, my love," Antonio said as Solaris paced inside my head.

"Come with me," I heard Antonio say as he stood up from his chair and walked to my side of the table with his hand out.

I graciously took his hand as he led me behind one of the massive oak trees. He let go of my hand and started taking off his clothes.

"What are we doing?" I asked and admired his beautiful body and works of art.

"Letting Ares out. He and Solaris need their time to bond," Antonio said as he stood straight, making me blush.

Solaris was prancing and howling inside my head. She wanted to spend time with her mate, and I was happy to let her bond with Ares.

"Babe, please! Oh, please!" Solaris begged, making me laugh.

"Alright, calm your tits. You horny wolf," I said as Solaris snorted and swished her tail.

Antonio quickly shifted into Ares as he stalked toward me and sniffed my scent. As I stared at his massive form, Ares whimpered and sat on his hunches. Ares licked my face and pawed at me, making me laugh.

"Ewe, gross," I chuckled.

I stepped back, removed my clothes, and quickly shifted into Solaris. Ares was panting and wagging his tail as his mate came forward and purred. Ares rubbed himself against Solaris's side as the tingles traveled all over, making her purr and wag her tail.

Ares barked, getting Solaris's attention as he titled his head, indicating to follow him. Solaris barked as Ares took off at top speed into the forest. I took a back seat as my wolf followed her mate.

Antonio POV

After I let Ares take over, I took a back seat and let him spend time with his mate. It was long overdue, and our wolves needed to bond as we did, so this was a perfect time.

Occasionally, I would take a peak and find them chasing each other through the forest, hunting rabbits and other small critters, and mating.

"Oh, My Goddess, really, dude," Ares snickered.

"You're one to talk, Hooman. I watch you, mate Staci, all the time, and I don't complain," Ares howls a laugh.

I mentally rolled my eyes and went back to my quiet corner. After their eventful evening, Solaris and Ares lay by the pond to rest; not long into their rest, someone pushed at our mental block.

"Alpha! We are under attack! Rogues!! at the southern border!" Atticus shouted through the link.

Ares jumped to his feet and let out a fierce growl. Solaris was on her feet in no time.

"What's going on?" Staci asked in our link.

"We are being attacked; we need to move to the southern border now," I snarled as Ares howled.

Solaris and Ares took off at top speed, heading to the southern border as I mink-linked my warriors.

"I need every able warrior to the southern border now! Rogues are attacking us!" I sent a massive link to my other warriors as Solaris and Ares raced to the border.

Ares looked over to see Solaris keeping pace with us. Ares and I were amazed at how fast she was; we couldn't wait to see her fighting skills. I wasn't one of those Alphas who told his Luna to sit back and hide while I fought the battles; my Luna is my equal and should be fighting by my side.

Solaris and Ares burst through the trees at the southern border. Ares let out a mighty howl, letting our warriors know their Alpha and Luna had arrived.

There were at least forty rogues. Solaris and Ares charged into the fight as more of our warriors joined. First, I saw Juliano's wolf, Jackson, fighting two rogues, realizing he was holding his own.

I saw one of my warriors being cornered by four rogues and charged into the fight. Ares bit down on the hind leg of the rogue in front of him and ripped it off as he howled in pain; he tried to limp away.

Ares jumped on his back, clamping my jaws around his neck, and squeezed hard until I heard the crack of his neck snapping. Ares dropped his lifeless body on the ground and attacked his next victim.

After Ares killed the next two rogues, Ares looked around and realized these rogues were too coordinated and working together like a pack. Rogues don't work together or be this coordinated; something wasn't adding up.

Ares looked around for Solaris and saw her fighting off a smaller rogue; she was so focused on her fight that she didn't see the other three rogues rearing from behind. Ares let out a howl and charged into the battle. We recognized one of the rogues as Grayson, which made Ares angry that he would try to kidnap our mate during a rogue attack.

"I'm going to kill him!" Ares roared.

Ares charged at the first rogue closest to him and knocked him into a tree as we heard a crack indicating his back was broken. Ares fought the second rogue as he tried to slash him with his claws. Ares sidestepped him as the rogue attempted to charge at us.

Before the rogue could turn around, Ares jumped on him, clamped his jaws around his neck, and tore his throat out. Ares heard a howl as we saw Grayson's wolf trying to bite and scratch Solaris.

Ares was enraged and charged toward them, but four rogues intercepted us. One rogue snapped his jaws at Ares while the other tried to claw at him.

Ares was doing his best to dodge their attacks while trying to get to our mate. The other two rogues seemed to be guarding while Ares fought the other two. Before Ares could clamp his jaws into the rogue closest to him, we saw a flash of gray fur fly past us and realized it was Grayson's wolf.

We saw his wolf hit a tree, and he shifted back, falling unconscious. I turned just in time to see the other four rogues floating mid-air as they kicked their legs and howled. Before I knew it, vines appeared out of the ground, wrapped around the rogue's necks, and twisted as the snaps echoed through the air.

"What the fuck is going on?!" I shouted as Ares stared.

Ares watched as the rogue's bodies fell to the ground in a hemp. We heard a whimper and looked at our mate as Solaris shifted back to Staci as she swayed to the side and fell unconscious.

We shifted back. I ran over to Staci and pulled her to my chest. I ran my fingers through her hair and looked down at my precious mate.

"Staci? My love?" I called out and felt her skin.

She didn't respond, but I heard her heart beating and saw her chest rising and falling as her breathing was normal.

"What the hell just happened?" I thought and heard movement beside me.

Atticus linked the southern border is clear, but a few rogues disappeared. I quickly linked him to check the borders and find out how those rogues got onto the territory.

Carter and Juliano ran over to me as I picked Staci up.

"What are our casualties?" I turned to my Beta and Gamma.

"A few injured, no casualties."

We have two rogues alive, including Grayson," Carter said.

"How's the Luna? Is she okay?" Juliano asked.

"I... I felt her fear, Alpha," Juliano said as he looked at his Luna.

I growled as Carter and Juliano reverted their eyes. A warrior quickly passed me some shorts and a blanket for Staci. I set Staci on the blanket and covered her up while I put the shorts on and picked my mate back up.

"She's alive. I can hear her heart beating."

"But I can't explain how those rogues' floated mid-air after I saw Grayson hit that tree."

"Ares looked back over at Solaris, and her eyes were glowing as if she was in a trance," I told the guys as they stared at me wide-eyed.

"Do you think she has powers?" Carter asked.

"I don't know, Carter. I've never heard of white wolves before, let alone if they had any powers," I said.

"We should research and find some answers."

"But first, let's get our Luna to the pack hospital," Juliano said.

From the Luna/Gamma bond, I knew Juliano could feel Staci's feelings. He was my Gamma, but his loyalty was with Staci. No matter the circumstance, he could disobey my orders and follow hers. I carried my mate toward the castle and turned back to address my warriors.

"Lock up Grayson and those two rogues in the dungeon. I have questions that need answers," I said, looking at my warriors.

"Yes, Alpha," the warriors shouted.

I turned back toward the castle and continued walking with Carter and Juliano flanking me. On our way toward the castle, I quickly mink-linked our pack doctor, explaining the situation concerning my mate.

As my parents, Monica and Marcie, came out, we made it to the castle in record time.

"What happened? Is she okay?" my Mother asked with a look of concern as my Father held her.

"She's alive, Mother, but I can't exactly explain what happened," I said.

"What do you mean?" my Mother asked.

"I'll tell all of you later. Right now, I want to make sure my mate is okay," I said, and I entered the castle with everyone behind me.

We piled into the elevator and went up to the fifth floor. The doors opened, revealing Dr. Scott and a nurse waiting with a stretcher.

"Alpha, set her down here," Dr. Scott said.

I lay her body on the stretcher, and they wheeled my mate into the pack hospital as we followed. We entered a room where they started hooking Staci up to various machines.

"Can you explain what happened, Alpha?" Dr. Scott asked me.

"I don't know, doctor; one minute, she was fighting off a rogue."

"Then I saw her eyes glowing, and the wind picked up fast. Then vines suddenly sprouted from the ground and killed the rogues," I said as Dr. Scott looked at me with wide eyes.

Dr. Scott straightened up, fixed his glasses on his face, and looked at me.

"We will run some tests and find out what's happening."

"She doesn't have any major injuries, so that's good. Just let us work, and I'll keep you updated, okay?" Dr. Scott said.

I growled at him for trying to kick me out of my mate's room.

"Please, Alpha, let us work to better care for your mate," Dr. Scott pleaded.

Putting my possessiveness aside, I sighed, exited the room, and walked toward the waiting area. Everyone saw me coming from the back and ambushed me with questions. I growled as everyone stepped back and ran my fingers through my hair.

"I just need some space right now," I said, sat down in one of the chairs in the waiting room, and placed my face in my hands.

I felt everyone sitting around me as I looked up, and everyone was looking at me. I sighed and started from the beginning as Carter and Juliano filled in the gaps. I would hear gasps from my parents, Monica and Marcie.

"I'm calling the elders. We need answers about what the hell is going on," my Father said.

"Let us know how she's doing," my Mother said and squeezed my shoulder as she and my Father left the hospital.

I sighed and leaned my head back against the wall. Carter, Juliano, and their mates stayed for a while. Ares whimpered in my head as he worried for his mate.

"Please, moon goddess, let my mate be okay," I silently prayed.
