Chapter 398
Michael shouted angrily. James laughed and said, "Michael, are you drunk? Miss Cook is your future sister-in-law. How could
she be your woman?"
"James, I'm not joking right now. You had better get someone to look for her. If anything happens to her, I won't let you off!"
Hearing Michael's ruthless threat, James scoffed. "Mr. Davis, you are threatening the wrong person. If anything happens to Miss
Cook, it's her business. What has it got to do with me?"
"James! Are you trying to piss me off? If you're not going to help me, I should just call Joseph. Are we even friends? Why are you
making things hard for me!"
"Don't, there's no need for you to disturb Mr. Dawson! I'II tell you where she is. The Wolf Group hotel has just called to say that
Miss Cook asked for a room with two guys."
"Get someone to stop her!"
"I'm afraid that I can't agree to your request. The Wolf Group is open for business. How can we stop our customers from
entering?"
"D*mn, James! Are you being serious? Don't push me!"
"Of course I'm serious! Mr. Dawson hates people who are unfaithful in relationships! I can't help you with this."
"Who's unfaithful? I didn't do anything wrong!"
"Didn't you? What's going on between you and Azalea Cook? Everyone can see that you guys are together. Weren't you
showing everyone how sweet you guys were?" After being under Joseph for so long, James was also someone who spoke
viciously.
Michael was furious, but there was nothing he could do as he was asking for help. So he softened his tone and said, "There was
nothing I could do then. James, can't you just turn a blind eye to this? Just once, I'll treat you to a meal another time."
"No, thanks. I wouldn't dare accept that meal. I need this job to provide for my family!" James was persistent.
Michael was furious. "I'm going to call Joseph.”
"You don't have to. Mr. Dawson has turned off his phone and went to sleep. You won't be able to get through to him. Even if you
do, he won't help you. He's said it, Miss Cook is Miss Anderson's best friend. She's like her sister. She would definitely not
tolerate anyone that bullies her. So to avoid being punished by Miss Anderson in the future, Mr. Dawson asked me to adhere to
the rules."
"That useless Joseph! This isn't the way to pamper a woman! Does he even treat me as his best friend? I'll remember this!"
James laughed, "There's no point remembering anything, as Mr. Dawson doesn't like men anyway. Michael, Miss Cook has
already brought two men to Wolf Group hotel. Maybe later... if Aiden finds out about it, oh no! Thinking about it makes me
shudder!"
"Stop it. James, just tell me straight. What does Joseph want me to do?"
"Mr. Dawson doesn't want you to do anything. He said that if you are a true man, you should figure things out between Azalea
before getting into a relationship with Miss Cook. He even said that his nephew, Raymond, likes Miss Cook and misses her a lot.
Such a good lady should be with his family member. Raymond is returning soon. By then, he can only help his nephew with his
relationship, and there would be no time to care for his best friend."
"D*mn it!" Michael threw his phone angrily.
It was obvious that nothing would happen to Abbie in the Wolf Group, so Michael was relieved. However, he got angry when he
thought of how Joseph chose not to help him because of Paige.
He'd met so many disloyal friends who only listened to their girlfriends. Joseph was never going to hear the end of this from him!
In the morning, Paige was still in a daze as she heard the ringing of her cell phone. She reached out to pick up the phone, but
her hand was stopped by Joseph. He said with a hint of humor, "Honey, it's my phone."
"Why are you using the same ringtone as mine?" Paige muttered as she opened her eyes.
Joseph said with a smile, "Because I think yours sounds better, so I changed it."
He answered the phone as he spoke.
Meanwhile, James was on the other end, "Mr. Dawson, according to your instructions, Michael could not do as he wished. He is
now waiting at the lobby of the Wolf Group."
Joseph answered in a light tone, "Ignore him! He's a piece of sh*t! We should just let him suffer a little."
"Then I shall just ignore him. You had better not believe him if he speaks ill of me to you in future."
"Don't worry. I am clear of what's happening."
Paige looked at Joseph curiously. "What did Michael do to provoke you?"
"Nope, he didn't provoke me but Abbie. For your sake, I made him suffer a little."
"He provoked Abbie? What do you mean?" Paige was shocked.
"You'll know later." Joseph looked at the time and said, "Get up, we need to collect our marriage certificate!"
As he spoke, he pulled Paige up. Paige circled her arms around his neck and said, "Joseph, are you sure you won't regret this?
Do you want to think this over again?"
"No, I've already thought it over!" Joseph looked at her suspiciously. "Are you regretting this? Are you playing with my feelings,
Paige? If you go back on your word, I'm going to be really unhappy."
"I'm not going back on my word. I will never regret marrying you, Joseph. But can you promise me something?"
"As long as you promise to register for our marriage, I will promise you anything."
"Can we do it secretly? I don't want anyone to know about this."
"Why should we do it secretly?"
"Because... because your father is unhappy about me marrying you. Uncle Saunders doesn't seem to happy about this either.
Anyway, this is between the two of us. So there's no need to let anyone know about this. Let's just go secretly without letting
them know."
Upon hearing Paige's words, Joseph was pretty sure that something was amiss. But since Paige didn't refuse to register for their
marriage, all was well with him. All the other stuff could be discussed after their registration.
He pinched Paige's face in adoration and said, "Alright! I approve of it!"
"Shall we go there in the afternoon? We can go secretly then..."
"Alright. Don't worry. I'll ask James to take care of it. No one will know that we're getting our certificate today." Joseph was not
dumb, and he knew that something was going on by the look on Paige's face.
Thinking back to the teacup on their table yesterday, someone must have come over. It wasn't Lamont, so it must have been
Hayden.
So that meant Gavin asking him over yesterday night was just a cover. He didn't know what Hayden told Paige to make her so
worried.
Joseph narrowed his eyes. Could it be that Hayden told Paige that his mother died because of Natalie?
"God, they are truly very despicable to do such a thing!"
Since they wanted to play dirty, he had to do the same. But first, he had to keep his wife safe. If he didn't pay attention, she might
very likely be taken away by them.
