Chapter 32
Dear diary, none of us is able to put Lola out of our minds. We’ve only seen her that one time, after that she didn’t come back to the building. It was clear she was high in the hierarchy of the company, but it wasn’t clear why. Rei is convinced it’s a clone, just a figure head, not really making all the decisions but its only there to intimidate. So who is above her and why she is there, are the questions we soon must answer. Quin thinks no one. She also thinks she’s a clone, but a perfected one, a better version of the original. With improved intelligence. To me her theory sounds more plausible, but for some reason, I still think it’s really her. Ian doesn’t know what to think anymore. A month has passed since we lost contact with Stan and he is nowhere to be seen. We are down to one last camera and even this one will die soon. We have learned Mary’s real name, Belinda Cecile, an official president of EasyWay, the one in charge of everything. Which wasn’t true, so they are hiding Lola or whatever she is. Ian is getting anxious and feels it’s time to take action. Something I wish as well, but I think we should wait. We constantly argue if it’s time to go in. Do we have enough information? And what will we do anyway? “We can release the footage of them watching the murders.” He suggests. “It would make a difference and would effect a lot of people. But what about after? They would know they are being watched and security would immediately go up. We wouldn’t be able to get any more information.” Quin says. “Not necessarily.” Rei suddenly says, after days of keeping silence. We all stared at him, with anticipation in what he will say next. “I’m close to decrypting their security system. When I do, we are in.” He tells us. “Nice plan and then we do what exactly?” I ask. “We go in. Including me. Everyone who is able, goes. We take them hostage, meanwhile I break in their main computer and steal everything I can.” We thought about his proposal when Ian adds to his plan. “We release the footage of them watching the murders. While it airs, we go in. They will focus all of their energy to take down those videos, we’ll have an easier job.” He tells us a very intriguing plan. “I think it could be done.” I say. “But we need weapons.” Quin adds. As I am the only one here who is not presumed dead and can still roam the public safely, I’ll be the one who will buy our weapons. I will start tomorrow, in small purchases, over the period of few days, in different store, so I don’t raise any suspicions or unnecessary attention. Rei will rig my chip, so I’ll have plenty of money for that. Ian and Quin will be in charge of preparing the group, as many of us will go. Everyone who isn’t a child, elderly person or disabled. Rei will unlock the security system and try to find out more. He explained all about how he will encrypt the system, but not a word stuck to me. I was never one for programming.
