The Missing Princess

Chapter 7 - Explanation

Alpha Aaron

We were waiting for Kodi to show up. I knew the moment that Nay found her room empty that she ran. I knew she would. Reign was panicking when he found out she was gone. I was fucking thankful that she had finally been found, but I was not happy that we found her where we did. Not to mention those bastards kidnapped my daughter and Ellie. We all jump when the door to Reign’s office slams open and in walk Rory and Vance. They look pissed.

“What the hell is this?” Vance asked.

He waves his hand around and in it is a letter. I am positive I know what that letter says and who that letter is from. I knew Jasper and Estella had left some type of explanation for the boys, but I thought their grandparents would tell them. I never thought they left the boys a letter. I closed my eyes and said a prayer. I knew sooner or later that I would have to tell Kodi about her brothers, but I thought I could cross one hurdle at a time. I guess this proverbial band aid is getting ripped off. Before I can say anything Mauku walks in followed by Kodi. Kodi stoped just inside the door. Her eyes are huge and I can see fear starting to seep into them. Before she can bolt Naydeen walks over to her grabbing her hand and dragging her over to sit by her. She relaxes slightly, but will not look at anyone beside me or Nay. Rory and Vance are staring at her like they are trying to figure out who she is. I am sure they can feel their family connection throbbing with her being this close.

“Someone needs to start talking.” Rory hisses.

“Dad, what the hell is going on?” Reign asked.

“Twenty years ago Randy, Jasper and I met at Randy’s house to talk. Jasper told us that Estella was pregnant, but that the child wouldn’t cooperate enough for them to find out what they were having and it remained that way until the child was born.” I answer.

“Yeah, we know that. Our little brother is still missing.” Vance comments.

“You don’t have a little brother. Your parents were visiting the pack when your mother went into labour. Your mother and father placed a glamour on your baby sister as soon as she was born. The child would appear as a boy that looked very similar to your mother. Beside Naydeen and I there is no one alive that knows this.” I added.

“Okay, but what does this have to do with me?” Kodi asked.

“That little girl was you Kodi. Your father and mother were attacked as they travelled back to the kingdom they were ambushed. Your mother was killed, but your father was able to make it back to the castle with you. However, he was injured in the attack.” I say.

“No, my parents didn’t want me and left me with Uncle Randy. No other members of my family came looking for me because I was unwanted.” She growls.

“Kodi, your parents did want you. Your father met with us while your mother was still pregnant with you and made us promise that if anything happened to them that Randy and I would protect you. He took you to Randy because everyone knew your father and I were friends. They knew your father and Randy were friends as well, but they had no idea where he lived or that he was a powerful warlock. I showed up the night of the fire, but you had already been forced by Randy to flee. I have been looking for you for the last 8 years. I went back to both the Texas house, even though I knew that Randy had sold it, and to the Oregon house thinking you would go there, but with no luck. I knew that necklace he had given you would let me find you, but for some reason it no longer worked.” I explained.

I had no idea that Randy had a secret house here on the big island. He never told anyone about it.” I added.

“The house isn’t Uncle Randy’s. It belonged to Aunt Lorena’s grandmother, but it was in Aunt Lorena’s will for Uncle Randy to get. He told me to go there and that I would be safe there. Uncle Randy had placed a spell on the necklace, but when he died the spell was broken.” She told me.

“That is great and all, but I would like to know what the fuck that was at the house we rescued Dani, Ellie, and Kodi from.” Kekipi says.

“That was me.” Kodi whispers.

“How?” Reign asked.

“Our great grandmother was raped before she married her fated mate our great grandfather. A banished and disowned dark fey prince was obsessed with her. Our grandmother is half light fey and half dark fey.” Rory explained.

“Our father and his family are direct descendants of Hecate the goddess that granted them their powers and ability to perform magic. Light fey are patriarchal people, while dark fey are matriarchal people.” Vance added.

“With the dark fey the magic is passed down from mother to daughter with their power and abilities sometimes skipping a generation or two. Both our grandmother and mother were powerful, but it appears that it skipped them mostly and was gifted to Kodi.” Rory states.

“Which means that she is probably the most powerful being on the planet.” Vance added.

“I would like to know why you smell human though.” Rory points out.

“I went back to the house in Oregon and grabbed everything Uncle Randy told me to. While I was there I came across a box that belonged to who I am guessing was my mother. It contained several books including two that were dated back to what I can only describe as the beginning of our family. It was a spell that if done right could change a person’s scent.” Kodi quietly explained.

“Kodi that spell is dangerous. Everyone who had attempted that spell either lost their power, magic, immortality or died.” I comment.

“That is true, but that was because they were missing one key part of the spell. In the book I have it clearly states that for this spell to work one must use the blood of a human, to cover the scent, and the blood of a witch or warlock for the magic. I have the blood of the most powerful witch/warlock lineage running through my veins. All I needed was the blood from a human which was easy to obtain.” Kodi replied.

“Okay, all this makes sense, but why don’t you want to be Reign’s mate?” Kekipi asks.

Leave it to that boy to ask a question like that with no tact. All eyes turn to her and I can tell that Rory and Vance are shocked by this announcement. Kekipi’s father smacks him on the back of his head.

“I am afraid.” She whispers.

“We can personally vouch for Reign; he is a great guy.” Rory and Vance say in unison.

“He would never hurt you.” Nay told her.

“You don’t understand. I know who and what I am. He might be the best person in the world but when presented with someone like me it could change. Power changes people.” She exclaims.

“Kodi…” I start to say.

“No, you have no idea what I have done to keep myself safe and what the fuck I have seen. I was there unknown to everyone else one night when three girls were rescued from some sadistic fucking alpha that was fucking power hungry. He kidnapped them to use them for their powers so he could destroy other packs and be the largest and most powerful in his area. He lied to two of them telling both of them they were his fated mates when it was bullshit. The third had only been kidnapped three days earlier and fought him every step of the way. The other two had been his captives a for a while, and had been used and raped by all the ranking members of the pack. They wanted powerful heirs. Those girls told me everything and warned me never to trust anyone. They both found out they were pregnant and ended up killing themselves because they couldn’t deal with carrying the children of those monsters. I was fucking 14 and I swore that day that I would never let that happen to me. I swore to myself no matter what I would never have a mate and if I did I wouldn’t let the bond snap into place. Everything I have done to keep that from happening went to shit that day when you found me in that house and touched me. Ever since that day I have been gathering information on any and every ring that I learn of so no other girl has to go through that shit.” Kodi screams as tears pour from her eyes and down her face.

Naydeen wraps her in her arms as they sink to the ground as Kodi continues to sob. None of us know what to say and are absolutely horrified with what she just told us. I watch as Reign slowly makes his way to where they are sitting on the floor.

Reign

-Go to mate.-Blade

-I am not sure that is a good idea.-Me

-I am not sure if our touch or presence will be wanted or accepted.-Me

-We need to try. Mate is sad and terrified.-Blade

Going against my better judgement I slowly make my way to where Aunt Naydeen and Kodi are slumped together on the floor. I want nothing more than to find that fucker and beat him until he dies, but I know for a fact that him and his ranked members are dead. That pack was raided and that shit was found. The fucking werewolf council had the all the ranked and high level wolves put to death. The rest of the pack was given the option of turning rogue or going to other packs. I think most went to other packs, but I know a few turned rogue and haven’t been seen since. For the last fifteen years or maybe longer the werewolf council has been cracking down on shit like that and doing what was done to that pack if it is found that a pack is doing shit like this. I sit down by Aunt Naydeen leaning against the desk as I slowly and gently rub up and down Kodi’s back. She peeks at me from Aunt Naydeen’s shoulder before lunging at me and burying her face into my chest as she continues to cry. I won’t lie, I wasn’t expecting that reaction at all. It makes perfect sense how she has been acting since I saw her at the surfing competition.

“You have nothing to worry about in this pack Kodi. We are one of the packs that helps the council find and serve justice when shit like that is found. I was there the day that raid took place.” Konor states.

“Why would Mom and Dad hide the fact that we had a little sister from us? We wanted a little sister more than anything.” Rory comments.

“You two were six and couldn’t keep a secret for shit.” Chiron deadpans.

Everyone laughs, even Kodi lets out a giggle between her sobs and hiccups. Rory and Vance are glaring at Chiron who is ignoring them. Everyone knows Rory and Vance were, and still are, terrible at keeping secrets. She has stopped crying but a hiccup escapes every now and then. I really thought she would jump out of my lap when she calmed down, but she is still here and isn’t making a move to leave which is fine with me. Kodi’s face turns bright red as she buries her face in my chest when her stomach lets out a loud roar.

“Come on young lady, let’s feed that beast inside of you.” Dad comments.

Rory helps her stand up as I push myself up until I am standing behind her. She smiles at me but I think reality has bit her in the ass as she realises what she just did. Konor tells us that he linked our head cook Gaston letting him know that we are on our way down. I place my hand on her lower back causing her to tense until she sees that it is me and relaxes. This gives me hope that I can convince her to give me and our bond a chance.

“I am sorry for crying on you earlier.” Kodi says.

“You have no reason to apologise, my little copper flame.” I replied.

I can see the indecision in her eyes. I grab her hand letting my thumb rub the back of her hand. I hear her take a deep breath. She keeps her head down looking at the ground. I place a finger on her chin pushing up her face until her stunning eyes lock with mine.

“I know you’re terrified and you have every right to be, but all I am asking for is a chance.” I say.

“I..I…I am not sure.” She stutters.

“What does your heart say? I know what your head is telling you.” I asked.

“I want to give this a chance but with everything…” She states.

“That alpha was lying to those girls. I am not sure how he convinced either of them that they were both his mates, but it was all a lie. This is not a lie.” I told her.

I let my finger along the apple of her cheek. She lets out a little gasp as the sparks course through her body. Her eyes close as our bond calms her heart rate down and eases her fears. I let out a gasp when her eyes popped open locking with mine. Our little bubble pops when shouting is heard from inside the house. Fucking Rory and Vance. They are arguing about something. I swear for two royal born fey, lets not forget they are also kings now, they fight and argue like any pair of siblings would.

“Ignore them. They are idiots and if I have to I will break their cat fight up.” Kodi hisses.

That earns a laugh from me which causes Rory and Vance to glare at me. I stand up and make my way into the house to break up a fey fight. This is how ridiculous my life is at times.
